Yup, that river is probably connected to an invisible magnetically enhanced island somewhere in the south Pacific... wink.gif

Caleb said more are coming so maybe everybody that died and or was buried near the river will come back, I'm still expecting Jacobs aunt to appear, I'm surprised she hasn't come back yet..

Have we determined who it was that was in the house that the guy Caleb beat to death was talking("they've found us") to towards the end of one of the episodes? At the time I was assuming it was her, but I don't remember how that played out.

It's really unbelievable that there's no outside media. Nobody is posting anything on social media either?

In the French series, at least the friends and families try to conceal the fact of the returns. Here it seems to be an open secret, but what people are concerned about is keeping the kid out of church, like he's got the measles and rather than came back from the dead.

It's not like the town is in some kind of supernatural bubble either. Immigration guy is still talking to his colleague and sheriff with othe law enforcement.

Anyway, the show isn't working well either as a mystery or a character/mood piece. Too bad because the premise has a lot of potential.

I know it's a TV show, but the pastor's wife is stupid. WTF did she talk to that lady? rolleyes.gif

I agree on the river connection. It seems to be the common bond.

And I'm going with Bellamy being "one of them." We know he has a secret in his past, and his supervisor isn't regularly checking up on him. eek.gifwink.gifbiggrin.gif

I think the actress playing the "busybody" church lady is doing an excellent job portraying her character. I find her quite detestable!

She's terrible. Really terrible (although correct: the actress is doing a great job portraying her). Really reminds me of the teacher from Donnie Darko who just wouldn't mind her own business. That same actress played a very similar busybody character on Jericho.

For me it's just eerie when there is a character who is so detestable such as these. Especially when there are real life people that behave just like that.

Veronica Cartwright tends to bring that out of people in her roles. She's good at doing that. I always had a thing for her sister Angela Cartwright when watching Lost in Space growing up. wink.gif

I got to thinking about this.

My guess, this is the very reason they explained in the first episode that people in the town are wary of outsiders. That gives them a reason to not be sharing this with the public. It's likely that it's normal for people not to be on social media in that environment. They've literally isolated themselves to the point where they likely don't know anyone else that is into social media activities.

For them, the church is likely their social network.

A town that hates even outsiders from law enforcement would hate having a swarm of media down their throats, as well. That's a lot of motivation to keep mum to anyone outside of town.

As far as the immigration guy, the person he's talking to is trying to keep him out of hot water by keeping his activities on the down low. She's likely covering for him.

Anyone else have really bad PQ on last night's episode? Most scenes, especially the ones in the cabin, were very blurry.

Looked fine to me.

Great episode last night, really drove the plot forward. I hope that people start asking the right questions, now. Kind of hard to ignore all these "returned".

One thing that I'd like to know: The earlier episodes hinted that the river had something to do with the returned. All three of the known returned died somewhere near the river (plus Caleb's cabin was near the river, although that's tangentially related). Jacob and his aunt both drowned, and Rachel crashed her car into a bridge. But one of the returned last night was wondering why he wasn't in Korea anymore. Additionally, the others didn't return to Arcadia, but elsewhere, and had to travel to Arcadia. These other folks all seemed to appear in Arcadia first.

If the writers of the TV series are taking plot ideas from the book, the commonality of the river was just coincidental. They might be planning to introduce more of their own ideas, though, so it might yet turn out to have some special meaning.

Also, don't forget that we're only seeing what's happening in Arcadia. We don't know how many ex-Arcadians are appearing elsewhere. We also don't know how many of the returned who've appeared in Arcadia actually "belong" somewhere else, although most of them do seem to be locals.

Personally, I was rather annoyed by what seemed to be a large number of spoilers in the preview of the next episode.

Not sure it's forward but they certainly changed directions to a large degree. I guess since next week is the finale they could throw everything in the fan. I found the Rachael reboot the most interesting... I pretty much expected her to come alive after dying and I was half right.

Yeah I think most if not all returned are from Arcadia.. from the 20's guy to the most recent..

Yep there's no way they could've kept it under wraps with all those folks coming back, so now we get to see the inevitable 'what happens when the government gets involved' plot arc. This has been done to death so I hope the show does a decent job with it. Certainly hasn't been the case with 'Under the Dome' but that show has a ton of other issues anyway.

That's what I'd like to know. She was in her red polka-dotted dress like the first time, not the clothes she was recently killed in. I'm going to lean towards her not remembering the last few days.

I suggested "bodysnatching" early on, but what do I know? Caleb going poof! puts this clearly into scifi territory for myself. And kudos to ABC for suckering us into another scifi series. It just better not have a suck ending!

Good call by NickTheGreat on Agent Bellamy. I would've guessed that about his boss, seeing as how she doesn't seem to track him too closely.

About the church lady (V. Cartwright): she was in the 1978 Bodysnatcher remake.

I'm no fashion maven, but that African American family that came back looked to be wearing clothes as if they were from the 50's or earlier. How the hell could Bellamy be their son?
