If I remember correctly, it's been a while. I do believe they changed this character a bit form the book. I believe that she has Agoraphobia, plus her religious tendencies in the book and she needs her husband to help her maintain some semblance of normalcy in her daily life thus why she is "keeping" him.

Yes, but what's the point of needing to do that, now that vampires are out and about killing people in the streets? Seems like a waste of time to cover up one dead vampire body when the cat's already out of the bag.

If that were merely the case, there are other ways to destroy a body. Dumping it in a river where it might float to the surface or get dredged up some other way is a very inefficient way of doing it. Eichorst, with his history, doesn't strike me as the inefficient type when it comes to the subject of corpse disposal.

Except didn't Eich say to Gus when he gave him the assignment something like "retrieve the package and dispose of it. I'm sure you know a place." or words to that effect? So dumping it in the river appeared to be Gus' idea.

That's true. Maybe Eichorst has seen a lot of mob shows and was just hoping Gus would use the river.

It's hard, if you have read the book(s), to see if they have adequately shown why the character does certain things on the tv show.

Keanu has apparently the filmography of choice for network TV.

Looking forward to the TV shows based on Point Break, Speed, Johnny Mnemonic and Little Buddha next year.

I'm surprised a network like the CW hasn't tried a Point Break show by now.

Show is starting to come off the rails.

That was a very good episode and easily the best one yet. The interweaving of the flashbacks and current events was masterfully done with utmost purpose.

The only distraction was the cabbie in the beginning who just might have been the show's dimmest bulb yet. "What is this!? What is this!?"

What is especially interesting is that the leader of that faction did not appear affected by light, whereas his cohorts were covered up. This series seems to be loaded with interesting backstory, and I am looking forward to learning it.

This was the first episode of the show that I have unreserved liked.

I only read the first book, and that was a long time ago. I remember the storyline with the lawyer's husband going to the country club and then going home and getting attacked, but I don't remember the "good" vampires. Was that in the first book, or was that pulled from a later book?

But are they vampires? Newly turned one's seem to not have much brain activity. They want to feed and that seems to be it. Even the plane "survivors" don't seem to be any more advanced than the passengers who did not survive (making me wonder what was the point).

And the Ninja had a weird face, nothing like the other vampires.

Yes I had no idea what the character was that I was looking at by the end of the episode. Hopefully they get explained in the next one. Either way though I am really enjoying this show.

I guess it's strangely reassuring that the CDC guys are incompetent both at disease control and spy stuff. "Let's lure this guy to a public place where it's going to be super hard to track him and then position ourselves as far away as possible so he has ample time to escape before we begin our pursuit!" Abraham even tried to hide behind a newspaper! What a classic maneuver.

The introduction of "good" vampires and/or zombie ninjas seems like the show jumped the shark already for me, though. That just felt like a forced cliche move out of line with the rest of the show's attempts to distance itself from other vampire-related tropes.

Abraham pointed that out to Eph when they were in the kitchen a few episodes ago. The Master allowed a few people to "survive" the attack with only minor infections that would mature more slowly so that the media would focus on the survivors and ignore the 200+ corpses that would incubate more quickly and thus spread the disease faster upon awakening.

It's the same phenomenon as we've seen with other people who have been bitten but not killed, as with the guy in jail who's going to turn into a vampire (eventually). If you survive the attack you still turn into one, but it takes longer.

But those still seem different than the German guy. He is able to control himself, while these other people that are turned seem to have no control.

My thanks to those of you who've read the books for showing restraint and not spoiling stuff like those "good" ninja guys early for us show-watchers. Still enjoying the show, really liked the turns in the latest episode, and yeah that cab driver was phenomenally stupid.
