As mentioned in the other NFL viewing options thread here, it's very easy to get NFL Gamepass for $110 a year (all regular season games, no blackouts) if you don't mind using a VPN or proxy to get around the country restrictions. And NFL Sunday Ticket online can only be purchased if you can't get D* and live in specific areas.

Phil's son Matt is our (Jets) 3rd string QB... would be interesting to hear Phil critique his own son if the situation presented itself.

I don't doubt the Game Pass VPN option within the United States, I wasn't sure if it was kosher or not to put that info on this forum.

From what I've read online Nantz and Simms were originally supposed to do the CLE/PIT game but once it was determined that Johnny Manziel was not to be the starting QB, CBS sent those 2 to the OAK/NYJ game.

The NFL airs in many countries, I don't see why not charge other countries' customers the equivalent of $110 to view the season, this isn't movies, there should be no problem as long as the credit card is charged. Also claim is it going to be in English, no translation provided..

Countries that have contracts with NFL to do OTA maybe excluded still the will air 1 or 2 games a week, what about the rest?

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

Ah, another year, and NBC still has the useless tint under the scorebar.

I'm genuinely puzzled as to why a broadcast team that produces arguably the best graphics package in the NFL, thinks tinting the bottom portion of the screen during the main broadcast somehow enhances the presentation????

Broadcast looks good here, no motion blur as noted above, but colors are a bit muted. I'll write that off to the steely gray skies in Seattle.

WKYC OTA, Cleveland

It was clear blue skies in Seattle...the shots that NBC used of the Seattle skyline. etc. that were partly/mostly cloudy were pre-recorded.

As for the telecast PQ was okay except for the usual blur on transition shots...most notable on the graphics.
Watched on KPNX OTA in Phoenix.

Checked the game on Cox and D in S. Ca. Picture quality was pretty good, is it me or is their field a weird green color, or maybe the rug is wearing out. Very good sound, [Wendell?] liked the Seattle music bumpers. The dark grey tint at the bottom of the screen really takes away from a very good broadcast, for me. Just eliminate it, or better yet move the score bug to the top of the screen, off the field, like their Hockey broadcasts.

They do now the rule changed 2011 the new rule now is:

"Teams will be permitted an Active List of 45 players and an Inactive List of 8 players. Provided, that if a club has 2 qbs on its 45-player Active List a 3rd qb from its Inactive List is permitted to dress for the game but if he enters the game during the first 3 quarters the other 2 qbs are thereafter prohibited from playing."

"The third quarterback rule was a rule in the National Football League that governed the use of a third quarterback in addition to the starter and the backup. The rule was abolished for the 2011 season, when the NFL increased the roster size to allow 46 players to dress for a game.[1]
The third quarterback did not count towards the team's 45-man active roster. If the third quarterback entered the game at any position during any of the first three quarters, the starter and backup became ineligible to play for the rest of the game;[2] the third quarterback could have entered the game in the fourth quarter while preserving the eligibility of the starter and backup.
The full text of the rule WAS:

Teams will be permitted an Active List of 45 players and an Inactive List of eight players for each regular-season and postseason game. Provided, that if a club has two quarterbacks on its 45-player Active List, a third quarterback from its Inactive List is permitted to dress for the game, but if he enters the game during the first three quarters, the other two quarterbacks are thereafter prohibited from playing.[3]
Although it is not specifically indicated, the NFL had interpreted its rule to mean that in order to designate a third quarterback, the two on the active roster must both be "bona fide" quarterbacks, not other position players merely designated as quarterbacks."

It says that was the rule until 2011.

Right so now he can play....i made it confusing but the quote is the old rule....the new rule now is he can play:

"The owners and players have agreed to expand game day rosters from 45 to 46 active players. The No. 3 quarterback will no longer be an “emergency” inactive player.

In other words, a team can insert its third-string quarterback for a short period at any point in the game, then take him out and put the starter back in. Previously, the first and second quarterbacks couldn’t re-enter the game if the No. 3 quarterback played before the fourth quarter."

I am pretty much over Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth has gotten stale. And since there is so much lag time between the HD and even the SD transmission and the radio broadcast of my local team is too confusing, so I may have to go back to what I used to do during the old MNF games. At halftime when I couldn't take Cossell anymore and I switched to music.

If you have a DVR you could use the pause feature to sync up the audio with the TV video. This is something I do on a weekly basis for both NFL and college football.

I don't have a problem with Michaels as his voice reminds me of Frank Griffith. Now, Collingsworth? I'm so tired of his smug grinning, smirking, and talking like Matthew McConoughey. Can't you tell I don't care for MM?

I think I see the problem here. The spell checker needs a "proper noun" plug-in. If a celebrity or celebrity-wanna-be has achieved a certain Q score they're added to the database. Otherwise, the riff-raff will continue to besmirch their names on web sites. If they have a Wiki page, they should probably qualify by default.

I know somebody's going to make a zillion dollars with this idea. You're welcome.

Of all the 3rd string qbs i say rex grossman of the browns has the best chance of playing as a 3rd string qb.
1 hoyer -- ug
2 manziel -- not ready yet
3rd string qb - ??

Well i wouldve said that if the browns didnt cut him earlier this week.

I mean how many teams have a 3rd string qb thats actually played in a super bowl.
Not only is he a 3rd string qb that played in a super bowl hes a 3rd string qb that actually started in a super bowl.
Usually 3rd string qbs are players barely hanging around the roster.
So how many 3rd string qbs can say that.
Ill bet not many 3rd string qbs can say that thats for sure.

So yea i would say of all the 3rd string qbs rex grossman has the best chance at playing as a 3rd string qb.
Well again i wouldve said that if they didnt cut him.

But there is a rumour they may bring him back week 2 when his salary isnt guaranteed so theres still hope....

....for him to start as the 3rd string qb.
