2014 Pleasant Surprises -- What are you liking?

We have a death watch thread, lets try something a bit different. What has caught your attention? What are you watching that is new this season that you didn't think you'd like but do?

At this point I really like The Flash, it's the only new show I really like. How to Get Away With Murder was up there but I have 2 episodes sitting on my DVR so it does not bode well.

I don't know how to describe why I like it, but I do watch it: Utopia.

Maybe just hoping Dedeker, the poly-amorous belly dancer, will get naked and dance. (Uh, probably not)

Z Nation and Forever are the only 2 that have caught and kept my attention. Z Nation has already been renewed, the ratings are not so good for forever. Let's just hope it's competition on ABC are lower.

Peaky Blinders series 2, and 2 other series that I, uh... found: Our Girl and The Detectorists, all from the BBC.

US TV, hmm every new show I have now given up on. I'm liking this series of Walking Dead.

Manhattan
Gotham
The Flash

Manhattan was a sure thing as I'm a science geek and WWII buff, but Gotham and The Flash are icing on the cake.

Gotham. The penguin story line has me hooked in and the actor playing him is doing a great job

Likewise, I'm enjoying Madam Secretary as well. At some point, I do think the show has to depart from its current "one crisis emerges and resolved by the end of the episode" formula, and expand to a more serialized plotline - it almost feels like a crime procedural as it stands. And my only other 'complaint' is Tea Leoni is too damn hot to be Secretary of State

Yes, in the main MS thread I said that they need to start an arc that will run for the season. These issues are not handled in a day.

Tea is cute! This is TV, so no problem with that.

I've been pleasantly surprised at the new show, but so far I'm hooked by Gotham and the Flash for sure. I'm also liking Scorpion and Stalker, I'm a sucker for Maggie Q.

I think Madam Secretary may be my favorite new show also. How to Get Away With Murder is another that I watch but am not in love with.

Biggest suprise for me.

How To Get Away With Murder.
Didn't expect much. As has been reported, there are no "sympathetic characters". But from a cynical point of view, it's fun to see how these flawed people interact and courtroom scenes not dependent on guilt or innocence , but who knew the "tricks of the trade". At the end of each episode I find myself, saying out loud "I like this show".

Stalker, big Maggie Q fan and also liking Forever, otherwise not a lot of new material we like this year.
Well I guess the wife likes Madam Secretary but it's not my cup of tea
We tried How To Get Away With Murder, it was a one and done for me, the wife gave it 2 episodes and was done.

The pilot of "Marry Me" had the wife and myself laughing hysterically (it struck very close to home for us...). Eps 2 and 3, however, have dropped off quite a bit, and Ep 3 nearly lost me. I'll give it a few more tries to see if it can get back to the level of the pilot, but I'm starting to lose patience with it.

And while it wasn't really a new fall series, since it's 10-episode run just finished, The Knick was absolutely stunning. Best new series this year by far. I've always liked Clive Owen, but he completely owns the role of Dr. Thackery.

Marry Me has possibilities for me too, Black-ish is a keeper especially after tonight's Halloween episode.

+1 on 'The Knick' and I'm shocked at how much I like Z-Nation on Syfy.

I think we all got our wish after last night's episode. The plot has definitely thickened.

And yes, Tea is cute.
