The Last Man on Earth on FOX

The premier was last night. I have to say, I thought it was pretty funny. Surprisingly fun and awkward. What did everyone else think? Did anyone else watch?

Hecka funny, if not a little bit predictable. Didn't think a female would show up so soon, though. If another woman shows up, it'll get even crazier. I loved it, so that means this show is doomed!

Thought it was excellent. My only thought it, I wonder what they are going to do to sustain this for years to come. Is every episode just going to be them bickering about how things should be done, her telling him to do things this way or that and he disagreeing. Just wondering what is in store but so far I really like it.

Loved it. The wife was lukewarm about it, but she had her sense of humor surgically removed by the Catholic Church years ago. I thought having Kristen Schaal as the female lead was brilliant. I'm wondering how long it will be before Phil takes another crack at the bullseye in his truck after living with her for a while.

I must be the only person who thought this program sucked. I might have smiled once, but no laughs. I was especially disappointed with how he treated his world being the only one left. I can understand his travels and collecting artifacts. I would probably do something similar. But to deliberately, happily life his life in filth and disrespect was totally off-putting.

So much potential, but it just didn't pull me in.

He's obviously not the brightest bulb. He went back to where he's always lived because that's what he's familiar with. Initially, he went right back to his old house, before realizing that it was a dump and there was nothing stopping him from moving into an empty mansion.

At this point, he's put up all those signs across the country saying that he's alive in Tucson. So if he still hopes that other people might find him, he's stuck there.

Wife and I thought it was great. Very quirky... not for everyone but we shared a bunch of laughs.

Co-worker gave up on it after 5 mins, which the opening was very dark and depressing, but it got a lot better & funnier!

Yeah, a "dark comedy" at that. And as far as this poor guy knows, there's nobody left on the planet, a pretty depressing situation to be in. Who's in the mood to clean anything up?

Sorry

And think about it. If he really believes that he's the only person left alive, one man is not going to be able to clean up the whole world. Nor will any mess he makes, no matter how huge by an individual's standards, have any impact on the planet at all.

Eventually, he's going to die, and Mother Nature will reclaim the Earth. Buildings will collapse, foliage will spread, and in a couple million years there will be no sign that mankind was ever here at all.

So what the frack is the point of being "green" and keeping a tidy house? What would that accomplish?

This was better than I thought it would be. I almost ignored it... normally I would have... but I was in an odd mood, so I gave it a look.

Glad it isn't over-the-top silly or funny... seemed more realistic-funny... the way you might be if you were the only (almost only) survivor.

Though they skipped a bit of time... it made sense for him to initially try to be normal... then gradually realize there was no point in that, and then almost give up. We all react differently. I didn't identify with the near-suicide... I get being alone and all... but I don't think suicide would seem like the option in the last-man scenario unless you sustained a major injury. I could see death preferable to pain or something in that scenario... but he was managing ok, just lonely... I could see being bored and doing nothing for weeks... but giving up completely seemed a little out of character to me.

Waiting for the other "elephant" in the room... so, ok they decide to "repopulate"... that's fine... until they realize the only way for more kids is if their kids have kids together... besides the "ick" factor, her religious insistence ought to not like that thought.

Me do not have signature.

Hey, it worked for Adam & Eve. And then again for Noah's kids. So from a religious standpoint, there's plenty of precedent.

Those who really enjoyed the show should be glad that I didn't like it; I tend to be a contra-indicator on a show's success.

By the way, I did enjoy the bowling scenes, and the irony of Mr. "I would never speak to a volleyball" speaking to various kinds of balls a little later.

It's just that as a whole the show didn't grab me; there are too many shows and movies I want to watch instead. (You would think that once one retires one would have lots of time, but I am making slower progress through my Netflix queueueueue (yes, my queue is too long!) than I was making back when I worked full time.)

My very humble setup:
Man Cave:Vizio E500i-A1 "Smart TV" (50-in 1080p 120Hz LED/LCD, has Netflix app.), Sony BDP-S3100 Blu-ray player, Roku N1000 (original model), PC (Windows 7), Comcast Internet (120Mbps/12Mbps).
Bedroom:LG 32LV3400-UA TV (32-in 768p 60Hz LED/LCD), HD DVR (Motorola RNG200N), Xfinity Comcast cable (Digital Preferred Plus), DVD/VHS player.

No you are not...if the last man on earth had habits like this slob,
there would be absolutely no hope for mankind...and thank the Lord for that...wiping his hands on the Declartation, precious paintings, etc
Was bad enough, but a pool poo...

For Noah's grandchildren: his sons were already married when the flood hit and the daughters-in-law survived it on the Ark, if you believe the story in the first place.

Neither Forte nor Schaal has exhibited much range in the roles where I've seen them, and this isn't stretching either out of his/her respective thespian comfort zone, but so far it isn't too repetitive of their other parts.  Surely they both can do more than their own stock characters, and I hope TLMoE will show us some.

From what I read, most or all of the announced guest stars will appear in flashbacks or fantasies rather than playing other survivors.

I liked it a lot and quite frankly the last man on earth would degenerate into a slob sooner or later and the show brought up rarely if ever addressed issues by other doomsday productions like running water and food.

Having said that I gotta wonder about Tucson as a choice to live when there is no electricity, I suspect it would be unbearable in the summer without power hungry air conditioning.

Imagine the children these two would have, that's going to be one good looking future population unless they find a fertility clinic in the arctic.... wait I think I saw a doc about one for animals in the arctic....
