Scream Queens on FOXHD

Anyone check out this new horror/comedy series Tuesday night? Basically it's a campy take on slasher films and mainly takes place at a sorority which covered up a death 20 years earlier.

I wouldn't go so far to say it was great or hysterical, but I did have a couple of laugh out loud moments. First being Niecy Nash's first scene. Normally I can't stand her, but her explaining the rules of how to get in touch with her and what to do if they couldn't was funny to me. Second was when the reporter guy cut a hold in the glass of Jamie Lee Curtis' door so he could reach the doorknob and when he did the whole glass cracked and shattered.

I'm sure this won't last, but I'll ride it out just to see who the killer is.

I hated it. Never been a fan of camp, but it was just terrible. Maybe 2 laughs through the entire 2 hours. I know it is suppose to be satire, but making a generation I know is horrible look more horrible, does not work for me.

Almost like Clueless and American Horror. I will give it one more shot.

I thought it was great fun. It's American Horror Story as a comedy. I'm a fan of Emma Roberts ever since season 3 of AMS. And Jamie Lee Curtis is great as a dean pulling off sardonic humor. Hope they can keep up the pace.

I'm a sucker for serial killer movies/TV shows/books...I actually enjoyed MTV's recent Scream reboot as well so I recorded Scream Queens although judging by reviews and trailers it's a little too campy and focused on comedy instead of horror which is disappointing...I want something like the Agatha Christie book '10 Little Indians' and less campy winks at the audience

The first time I tried to watch it, I dozed off at about the 45 minute mark, which doesn't seem to bode well for this type of show. I finished watching it the next evening and the pace of the second hour seemed a lot better. My favorite scene was the one with the riding lawn mower.

It feels like a show like this demands killing off at least one or two characters per episode in some new gruesome way. You can maintain that pace for a two-hour movie, but it seems like they will run out of characters before they reach the end of the session. Of course, perhaps the last man standing will be, by default, the person in the red devil mask.

The killer is either Jamie Lee Curtis, one of the Jocks or the barista guy.. (of course the latest was too obvious as he has the exact same costume)

I'll give it a couple more episodes before making a decision. I've always been hooked on Jamie Lee. I suspect that she's the Red Devil.

I could barely make it through the first hour of this and I expected to quite like it. Wildly inconsistent tone going from Mean Girls to Scary Movie and neither was very well done.

Far too much Emma Roberts as well. Murphy obviously likes her, but making the show basically focus on the most ingratiating character instead of making the new girl the heroine and someone the audience can view the world as was just really tiring and annoying.

Should have been a half hour, but even then the characters and writing probably wouldn't save it. Surburgatory this is not and even in it's worst season that's the kind of tone that would have worked better.

Haven't watched yet but it can't be any worse than the rest of the new shows. At least it's something different. I am actually hoping for 2 or 3 of Fox's shows to crash and burn to give Gotham some breathing room...

Another "NO" vote here. I watched about the first 15 minutes of the show. Then I deleted it. For my tastes, it was stupidly boring.

Or a red herring.

I think if folks were looking for an actual slasher movie this won't do it for them because it is more of a comedy and the pilot had some good laughs. Movies and TV shows are for "mood adjustment" and if a show isn't the adjustment you were looking for then it doesn't go down well.

I had ZERO expectations for this show--hadn't even heard of it until I saw a commercial saying they would re-broadcast the pilot--but I found it HILARIOUS! That was a really fun 2 hours. Not sure what the harsh criticism is about because it doesn't seem like a show to take seriously...it certainly doesn't take itself too seriously--it's just goofy awkward fun. Of course there's always something a show could do without, but you have to take the good with the bad...for now.

Lots of LOL moments in the premiere, we enjoyed it, but I'd really like to see more of a half-hour show filled chock-full of gags and less Murphy-eske angst. An hour a week (and a 22 week season?) may be too much to sustain the premise.

I finally watched and didn't hate it but I doubt if I'll continue with it. There were some good lines but too few and far between. More than anything else, the new girl and her father reminded me of Tessa and George on Suburgatory vs. Chanel/Dahlia. Seems like it could have been a good enough story to watch, or it could have been funny enough to watch, but it didn't quite pass the test on either score. It's right there with all the other new shows so far - not terrible but no better than all the ones I've lost interest in recently - OUAT, AOS, Wayward Pines, Mr. Robot...

Mr. Robot is definitely worth your time and AOS is not bad if you like the superhero stuff.

I'm surprised that I actually liked this. By all rights, I should hate it....a lot. It's totally not my typical show to watch.

Granted, it took me a bit to settle in to the show (I stopped at the first hour and came back to it the next day) and embrace the style, but once I did it grew on me.

Long term, who knows, but for now, I'll stick with it.

The MR pilot was good enough for me to stick with for a few more episodes, but by 5 it just seemed like a waste of time.

I don't have any particular interest or disinterest in superhero shows. AOS was OK at first but S2 lost me with a mishmash of worthless new characters. Constantine looked promising but it was DOA after the pilot fiasco. I did slog through Arrow S3 but that's also pretty much over for me. Gotham is the best of the superhero bunch IMO - good cast, interesting characters and story threads.

I see that SQ got a good DVR bump so its outlook is pretty good...

I did that same thing, watched over two nights, ready to pull the plug the first night, but the second night(hour) was funnier(definitely not the target audience either). Silly and ridiculous fun, but funny enough, for now anyway. It was pretty much the one-liners and JLC that kept me engaged. I'll watch next week, but I have a strong feeling I won't last very long with this one, it's teetering on the cliff right now so it won't take much to knock it off.
