Actually, they do a pretty good job singing BeeGees songs, I've heard it before.

My only two overall comments on an otherwise excellent production so far:

1. Lip sync. Apparantly a local affiliate problem, but CBS might weigh-in with advice and troubleshooting until they understand and/or fix it. Otherwise, excellent 5.1 from WUSA-DT Washington.

2. Several mid/long camera shots of performers were soft. I think the camera-person was trying compromising focus between the performer and the background, and just wasn't getting enough depth of field. My choice would be to sharp focus on the performer and let the bkgrnd blur if necessary.

DD 5.1 is now the de-facto standard for live digital television broadcast in a non-sports category. :) Thanks CBS.

Nice, classy windowboxing. Again, well done CBS.

A few things I noted...

On one of the Dixie Chicks acceptance speeches a member mentioned thinking of giving the album away for free on the Internet. In hindsight, especially seeing the accolades the album is getting, along with the current RIAA despise for the Internet, I am sure a few label folks are wincing at that comment.

Just saw a toothpaste commercial in Espanol...interesting....

Oh, and, FWIW, the BeeGees tribute is going to be done by NSync, if I am not mistaken. Wonder if that will upset the BeeGees fans.

What's the mention of Enimen like you never expected? I don't like him especially but that seemed like an odd comment....

Also suprised I haven't seen more political statements. I mean, after all, these folks are artists (supposedly) and earn a living expressing themselves. The network must have em on a short leash...

That's all for now.

No 5.1 out of orlando, how dissapointing, the mix sounds like the Rf and Rl signals only, the center channel (main vocals) seems to be missing.

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Personal taste, I guess.
Same thoughts here, although I can think of at least three or four songs that I like better than Politik off of their last album, not to mention off of their first album. Coldplay is really, really, really good (if not great), but it's hard to convince people of that fact if they have only heard 'Yellow'. Unfortunately, I don't think tonight's performance will win over many more converts...

The BeeGees tribute was actually very respectful. I was surprised. Elicited a few tears from me.

I must say that, now that the wind has died down in Baltimore and the damn multipath is not killing the signal every 2 minutes, this telecast is AWESOME.

I really can't wait for Comcast and CBS to get their ^**&^% together so I can loose the attic antenna.
