2016 MLB Playoffs on Several Channels

It's October. That means baseball is the most important sport.

I don't watch many games during the 162 games pre-season. So I like the games on TBS, they have the pitch tracker always turned-on. So I can see the progression during an at-bat.

moving to the big FOX
(Fox Broadcasting) starting tomorrow night

Cubs versus Indians (because Bears fans and Browns fans need some sports entertainment)

all games have a starting time of 8 p.m. ET unless changes are made to the schedule

Edit: The starting time for Game 2 (Wednesday, October 26) has been moved to 7 p.m. ET in anticipation of rain later in the night.

YES! and last night as well. I'm getting Ch29 WTXF via Comcast, tuned by a Cablecard in a TiVo Roamio Pro. I switched the TiVo from DD to PCM and seemed to help a little, but it's still a problem.

I checked with my son and my brother. It's everywhere. I also tried the PCM switch, but these are way past the occasional DD dropouts. These guys had the same issue throughout the playoffs. In some cases the announcers were still on, but all of the background audio was gone.

I watched OTA and noticed only two audio dropouts, each lasting less than 30 seconds. I thought the problem was with the local station. I didn't mind it that much because I'm not that fond of the trend toward constant chatter by the announcers. In the old days, announcers did not feel the need to continually yak yak yak.

I'm of the belief that those audio dropouts are to edit out bad language. If you noticed, it's usually happened near one of the dugouts and right after a big moment in the game. Joe Buck had mentioned mentioned during the LCS that they were on a 30 second delay and the dropouts were happening then as well.

During an infrequent moment audio wasn't muted heard Buck mention Lester was bleeped after a close pitch was called a ball. He explained a small mic was installed near the rubber. Hearing fielders/runners step on the bags is a nice feature, too. Video quality during the first 2 games has been very good to excellent. Too bad both games have been blowouts after some exciting contests during playoffs.

I'm hearing many, frequent, tiny audio dropouts --fractions of a second, just long enough to be perceptible -- as well as the occasional long ones.

If the long dropouts are because of language problems in the peripheral mics, they need to re-think those mics. Killing the entire audio feed is not the correct solution.

The micro-dropouts sound like the sort of thing you get from signal-strength or encoder-compatibioity issues, and may be local -- although I don't have the problem with anything else on this channel.

Yeah, sound dropping out here and there for sometimes as long as 5-10 seconds.

TBS and Fox have been great at showing the entire flight of the ball going to the outfield live. I have complained about the lack of this for years. We finally get to see what it looks like at the ballpark. Thanks for bringing your camera shots up.

MLB needs to do something to shorten the games. Four hours for a nine-inning game is ridiculous.

Agree completely, 4 hours is way too long. 2-3 hours would be fine .

Exciting contest and rousing rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." Buck and Smoltz were also in top form.

The Indians have done a great job of bunting runners into scoring position. And even though Cleveland has made some base running errors, the aggressiveness has kept the Cubs' pitchers unsettled.

Francona's teams are usually prepared. Lindor and Russell are both fun to watch.

Being a Giants fan I was really pulling for the Cubbies this time around. Doesn't look like that's going to happen. At least the Dodgers aren't in it!

Aside from jeering the home plate ump, thought I heard boos from the crowd. I would after 10-12 consecutive batters swung at the first pitch.

Anyone else think the pq tonight game 6 is particularly bad? Looks like a 480p feed to me. The long shots of the guys in the outfield are poor SD quality. Watching WJW Cleveland OTA

Audio dropouts seem DD related. I get the dropouts on my main surround setup but not on the kitchen counter tv with analog audio - I can hear the kitchen tv still going when the living room audio drops out

Agree long shots from all angles look crappy, but no audio drops on WAGA Atlanta OTA.
