AVS_forum rules... and D*TV once again comes though in the clutch. I bet now that the word is out on this forum, D* will be forced to issue a press realease on this today.

Myhtical_phoenix - I am gong to Vegas next week. Do you think I can bring you along to count cards!

Now if the press release would contain the date and price we can put this one to bed.

Did he confirm the accuracy of the IE Source data as well? We'll all be pretty disappointed if it's just another HD PPV channel that runs mostly bad movies over and over again.

In anticipation of this event, I just called Direct and inquired about obtaining a Sat-C kit. The lady I spoke to told me there was a $49.95 charge for the kit, plus $8.00 shipping and handling. When I told her I had seen a number of posts on this forum that they had been providing these kits free of charge, plus the $8.00 shipping fee, she put me on hold for a couple of minutes while she "checked." When she came back on the line, she said that I would be able to get the kit after all for free and just pay the shipping. It will arrive in 2-5 business days. Gotta be prepared in case the third LNB is needed when these channels are added!

Either that or we'll find that source coding disappear soon.

If you look on page 12 of the Best Buy ad this week it shows pictures of a 3 LNB dish as standard. It looks like everyone that subscribes from now on will be getting these. If someone can post the picture that would be great.

Check out the Bat-Cade:

Room? How about 110 location. There is 1 unused transponder there, if they squeeze 2 channels onto that 1, then they could also add the third channel to 101 (since there have been times when HBO-HD moved to 101 before), not to mention doubling up the transponder that ShowHD is on. Depends on how they squeeze things I guess.

I didn't realize there was an unused transponder on 110. That would be great. All I can say is they better not start compressing HBO and SHO like they've done with HDNet lately or offer these new channels heavily compressed.

Most online sources for PRNewswire and Businesswire are 15 minutes delayed, so I would say 1:45 for it to show up on Yahoo!, etc.

Just been speaking to Directv sales person trying to get the Sat C kit for just the $8 shipping, got it after a long debate and several holds while he checked that I did not need to upgrade to Showtime to get the deal on the kit.

When asked about the new HD channels he said they were supposed to be available on May 31st and should be available any day now :D

Yeah only 2 transponders are in use on 110 (as of last night) with ShowHD, and 5 SD channels, and the Channel 90 test card. Unfortunately, I think we are doomed to have compression.

You can go to the D* headlines page, or it will probably be on Businesswire or PRNewsWire. I go to www.newsalert.com and type in their ticker symbol (GMH). It's 15 minutes delayed.

Looking at their naming convention for Press Releases, one would assume a press release for today would be located here:

http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/aboutu...id=06_03_2003A

Nothing there yet.
