If those two are over rated, then why didn't their team mates beat them to the title?

I note that Jenson Button is hanging out at the NASCAR race in Fontana today. I bet Fred wishes he was with JB right now.

RB have a real talent for porking Danny. Hopefully at some point he can find his way to a competent team.

I didn't watch the recording until about 4am my time, but I am guessing anyone aiming their ear toward Albuquerque would have heard a few really loud expletives, most ending in "uck".

I dunno man, Hamilton is pretty spectacular in the rain, which has played a part.

Yeah but it's just rain so far. All I need is a tornado warning. Then I would have to move from my comfortable family room and sit in my small and uncomfortable safe room. Oh, well, at least I have a safe room. Anyway, the power just came back up so it wasn't too bad. Thanks for asking.

While I'm obviously pleased with the outcome (Seb at least), I would feel a lot better if he won on straight pace vs a bad pit call by Merc. Hamilton clearly couldn't shake him in the first stint and complained about his tires sliding around after 10 laps. Hamilton said the pit call was necessary because of his tires, so Merc didn't really make a bad call, they were forced into it. Hamilton said he thought Seb would have gotten by him anyways, even if he didn't pit, so that's promising.

I had a feeling this style of car would favor Seb's driving style more than Kimi's. Hopefully Kimi can pick it up and carry his weight. Bottas is clearly going to do his part for Merc. Although he wasn't pleased with third, he did stay close to Lewis. It will be interesting to see if he can keep up as the season goes on.

Feel terrible for DR. What a crappy home race. It's not very often you can wipe the smile off his face. As mentioned, he definitely inherited Webber's "reliability" issues.

As previously discussed, the difficulty of passing this year is going to change a lot of race outcomes this season. I'm not looking forward to that.

While Merc didn't win and the cars are quicker, we still didn't get good racing.

Which is my biggest concern. Despite Merc's domination last year, there was some good racing behind them. I fear that may not be the case this year

Watching the Nascar race today, I have to wonder if Kyle Larson could make the switch to F1.

Agreed. Just having a fight between 2 teams for the win will not make for exciting races. Especially if said win is decided by pit stop strategies and traffic instead of wheel to wheel racing.

I was reading this on the Nascar wiki page about the gen 6 car.

Quote:
The car had a low downforce package in the 2015 Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway[6] and another in the 2015 Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.[7] This package took 1,000 pounds of downforce away from the car. The cars had a high down force package in July for the 2015 Brickyard 400 and in Michigan. These races saw almost no action and the down force package was criticized by the many fans. Martin Truex Jr. told USA Today: "We could run anybody down and get to them, but it took a long time to pass cars. It was just so damn hard to pass. I could run a guy down from way back and get to him and about spin out. It’s no fun to race like that. We had a car that could have contended with the 20 [Kenseth] today and just couldn’t ever get there."
Sound familiar.

Looks like it's unlisted (listed as public but need the link to view) on YouTube, it'll fly under the radar a bit longer like that, but will likely be taken down at some point.

Yeah..
Practice I expected. Maybe quali. Maybe race highlights. But I was shocked to see the full race there.
