Unfortunately, pro football seems to be full of guys like that. Rae Carruth, whom the Panthers wasted a first-round pick on, hired a thug to kill his pregnant girlfriend so he wouldn't have to pay child support on a second kid (and he's getting out next year). The Ravens' Ray Lewis may or may not have killed two people before the Super Bowl one year, and at the very least knows who did it because he was present when it went down. Yet the NFL made him the Face of the League and he's still commenting -- and "praising God" -- on the NFL Network.

And then you get down to the lengthy list of guys who just punch out women because they feel like it.

Violence begats violence? Who knows? We do love it though, don't we?

True, there are thugs/"murderers"/bad dudes in the game, but there are good guys as well, just like in every day society. I try to focus on the good guys.

Nope. Society creates the monsters and I'd like to know what percentage of college and pro coaches are sociopaths. Win at any cost and the end justifies the means.

No doubt that there are (too) many low character guys out there. That said, as I was reading this thread today I was coincidentally watching the Muhsin Muhammad episode of Panthers Legends on ̶T̶i̶m̶e̶ ̶W̶a̶r̶ Spectrum Sports. The story of his large adopted family was quite heartwarming and was a great reminder that there have been (and still are) a good number of high character players as well. It was nice to see one of the very good guys being profiled rather than always having attention thrown at the ugly side of the game.

Absolutely true. One of the very best is The Norwegian Nightmare™, Cats' all-pro tight end Greg Olsen. One of the "NFL Man of the Year" finalists. Oddly enough, his younger brother, also a football player, is a screw-up.

Refer them to fabric, you can't change the type of fabric but it can come in all colors.

I agree with your sentiment, though uncertain which label applies in this case.

Did you watch "The Knick" didn't work then and won't work today. Experiments with altering behavior has been tried.

And as far as the label goes let's just say psychopaths are cut from a different cloth.

As far as Hernendez goes I'm not certain what his label he would fall into. I'm certain drugs played a big role.

And have much empathy for his family.

It's sad when people put on the blinders and fail to see there are more choices in life than what they chose, no matter who tells them otherwise. Sad situation all around.

So no schedule talk? I'm having deja vu with the Dallas schedule. Opening on Sunday night versus the Giants, closing the season with Philly, a Thursday night game the week after Turkey day... seems like this has been done before. Only 2 games this season scheduled for the early afternoon start. Never seen that before.

Well, we play the Falcons twice, the Pats on week 5 (eek!) and Miami as our opener. Sorry to hand you you're first loss of the season Chad .

I am excited for the season, looks like some good matchups and if we keep improving I have no doubt we'll make the playoffs.

And we get the Bills 2 of the last 3 Sundays in December. Just because we swept them last year, doesn't mean it will happen again. Miami has a pretty tough schedule. 4 prime time games though this year.

Unfamiliar with the Knick, a cocaine and opium addled MD doesn't capture my interest. Behavior modification in Clockwork Orange had a similar outcome.

Good one.

The fact there were so many red flags raised during his college career is another example of wwfl's ethical bankruptcy. I'm certain Kraft viewed drafting him solely a business decision.

Don't understand the specific empathy for his purported family, he wasn't married to the child's mother. How 'bout recognizing the millions of other single parents who toil in obscurity raising children? On the flip side, what about neanderthal parents who bought posters of him to tape to their child's bedroom wall?

Did you have brothers? If it turns out that CTE may have caused his issues his family closeness to his brothers and daughter is a tragedy. The spotlight on CTE grows.
