Marvel's The Defenders will unite Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, as they face their biggest threat yet.

I just started watching the first seasons of Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. Will find some time to watch Daredevil soon, but I couldn't get into Luke Cage. I'm really loving the tone of Jessica Jones, and can't wait to finish the rest of the season.

I didn't know these characters were interconnected until I finished Iron Fist and started watching Jessica Jones, and I saw the connecting threads - (Carrie Ann Moss, the Luke Cage guy, references to the benevolent billionaire in the city, etc.) - and the reference to the "Alien Attack on NY" - indicating a tie in into the Avengers.

I'd love to see where this series "The Defenders" takes these characters. Netflix is crushing it with their collaboration with Marvel!!

To avoid spoilers and for optimal continuity, these shows really should be watched in the following order:

1) Daredevil, s.1
2) Jessica Jones
3) Daredevil, s. 2
4) Luke Cage
5) Iron Fist

Even if one or more aren't to your taste, or you find it otherwise weak in some way, they are all worth watching compared to a lot of other TV superhero shows.

Can't wait for Defenders!

Maybe the fighting style used in each show is to blame, but the fight scenes in Daredevil are better than Iron Fist. Jessica Jones might have the best story of them all, but Daredevil is still more entertaining, to me.

I wish Luke Cage switched actors for Mama Mabel and Mariah Dillard. The actor playing Mariah just does not fit in that role for me.

Jessica Jones is my favorite of the bunch as well, and if you like it I think you'll also really enjoy Daredevil. The two have the most compelling villains, both Tennant and D'Onofrio absolutely kill it in their roles.

Daredevil also introduces Claire Temple, and has a very strong supporting cast.

No spoilers. Mostly and interview with Charlie Cox played with some technical info on the upcoming Defenders:

Trailer looks good. Hopefully, Marvel/Netflix can wash off the stink from the Iron Fist series and keep moving forward. They need a nuanced and well developed villain that IF sorely lacked. There you had the Not-dead dad, the stereotypical inscrutable Chinese dragon lady, and some cookie cutter head honcho sensei dude.

The humor looks good - "we make a great team, bulletproof, blind ninja and whatever you are". Are they releasing all at once as usual or weekly?

All at once. 8 shows. I think they should limit all future seasons to 8 or 9 shows. Most of their seasons seem too drawn out.

I have watched Episode 1 and part of 2 of The Defenders and am enjoying it, especially Krysten Ritter, as the foul mouthed, kick-ass Jessica Jones.

On a technical note, both the video and audio were top notch. The show's UHD HDR treatment looked beautiful on my Roku Premiere+'s Netflix app and its DD+ audio was just as good. I used my Yamaha 3060's Dolby Surround DSP to matrix DD+'s native 5.1 to 7.2.4.

HT setup: Sony 75XBR X940D UHD HDR TV; Kaleidescape Strato Movie Server 6 TB; Yamaha RX-A3060 AV receiver; Sonamp 2-1 2channel 100W power amp; Crestron Control System; 2 Rythmik FV18 subwoofers, 6 Hsu HB-1 Bookshelf speakers, 1 Hsu HC-1 Center speaker, 4 Focal ICW8 in-ceiling Atmos speakers; Oppo UDP-203 4K HDR BD player; Mac Mini HTPC. I'm using an XBox One S as my Netflix UHD HDR source, and yes, it looks spectacular. I especially enjoyed the use of specific color timings for each character in the first two episodes, which communicates very effectively via HDR.

My system is still only 7.2.0, but it does sound great.

Just finished episode 3, and there is some martial arts choreography worthy of Daredevil S1 in it. Danny Rand is still a dweeb, but at least this time the writers are aware of it.

Thank you both.

My major question was going to be about the sound. I assume the surround spatial dynamics are there. Or is it front heavy like the non-Daredevil seasons?

I'm doing non-HDR 1080p and 5.1 -- state of the art like it's 2007!

Just finished episode 3 and things are picking nicely as is the humor. I watched E1 in Dolby Vision on my LG C7 OLED, E2 in HDR on my Roku Ultra and E3 in 4K SDR on the Roku. I found that in DV and HDR the image looked a bit overloaded but that in SDR it was more pleasing to my aging eyes. The DD+ audio up-scaled to 5.1.2 by my Denon AVR sounded great. It's hard to believe that there are only 8 episodes but if E3 is any indication, the ride is about to get wild and woolly.

I just started watching and had to exit. I appreciate that many have and are enjoying this.

I myself though am not a fan of the overly dark lighting and too cute by half camera panning and zooming.

For me, it is what they say about back ground music scoring. If the audience is taken out of the story by it's presence, it is not well done. Same with camera work (IMO).

I get that I may be a lone voice on this

I may pick up some Dramamine and try again at a later date

I finished the season this evening and continued to be very impressed with the 5.1 DD+ audio upconverted to 7.2.4 by the Dolby Surround DLP on my Yamaha 3060. The LFE was some of the best I have heard from lossy audiotracks. Also, the surround effects were good but I didn't notice much activity from my in-ceiling speakers. No surprise there, though, I guess, because the native DD+ was 5.1.

I finished the season and thought it was mostly okay. Really glad it was only 8 eps.

Just general stuff without spoilers:

Iron Fist is still a really weak point in the show. I would rate this about 3rd in the universe behind JJ as #1 and parts of the two seasons of DD as #2. Problems are the villains are too ambiguous and the connections with the heroes are too thin. The big danger never really seemed real. The best stuff is the team ups of both heroes and sidekicks and there isn't enough of that and too many cliches in what has to happen. So good stuff and meh stuff. The 8 eps at least kept it from seeming too drawn out even though there is still about 1 or 1 and 1/2 show too much. Sigourney Weaver is just a talent above everyone else and can make an engaging character not unlike Vincent D'onofrio's talent even if she doesn't seem physically up to the role despite the circumstances they use to justify it.

What am I missing. I searched for 4k content and this is the only one not showing up. Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and even Iron Fist all show up when I search for 4k. I am watching on LG OLED and updated to latest Netflix.
