I love being Canadian... er, sort of... south Canadian...

Boston and Seattle feeds look really good. TSN is a nice picture as well but is DD 2.0. Boston was DD 2.0 when I first turned it on, so I watched the DD 5.1 version on Seattle ABC. Then Seattle jumped in and out of 5.1 with a lot of breakups, so I turned back to Boston. Now Boston is in DD 5.1.

Neither. I think it's a great effort, the only downsides are the compromises for the analog broadcast; a few SD cameras and placement of the graphics, which are not going to change.

The bottom line is that the compromises are necessary to getting the games in HD. So be it.

I think the picture, sound and production are great. Bottom line..since there is no real reason to watch football here in Los Angeles...is that the HD telecast in 5.1 adds a lot of enjoyment to MNF.

I can live with these compromises. I switched between the HD and SD feed and it was night and day. On the HD feed you can see that the Jets jerseys are mesh in the torso and a shiny material, could be dazzle cloth, in the sleeves. There are a lot of fine details that you get in the HD feed. Maybe I am easy to please, but I am very happy with what I am seeing.

Looking good here in Central NJ from ABC in Philadelphia. Sound is 5.1 I do notice a decrease in volume for the commercials (great thing for a change). Noticed the yellow first down line moving at time. I guess they are still working on that. Now if only the Jets were winning it would be a better evening.

Very good PQ here in Atlanta; not getting the same video or audio drop-outs as the previous Atlanta viewer reported. Not the best HD I've seen on ABC, not the worst, and so very much better than last year's opening night game. As for the sky-cam, I love it. Sure it would be better in HD, but what a thrill to see (sort of) the quarterback's point of view, trying to pick out the open receiver. I love it!

Been awesome all night in West Michigan on WOTV-41. They are always on top of the HD broadcasts and the HD to SD switches at local commercial breaks are also smoother then I remember. All in all a very professional presentation locally and by ABC as a whole.

The full field graphics, while interesting and original, didn't look very good, particularly around the overlaid field objects.

Looks great here in Washington (WJLA-DT, who'da thunk it?!) but sound is not DD 5.1. Oh well, can't have everything.

And am I the only one who thought that Michaels, Theismann, Simms and Howie looked really goofy sitting around holding those microphones like that at halftime?! It looked like they were holding microphone-shaped ice cream cones.

Or, we can't have anything.

WJLA was SD for the first 5 minutes of the second half, and now the HD signal is screwed up in some way that my receivers (F38310 and MyHD) can't lock on (flashing video, MPEG artifacts, the dreaded "green dashes" and sound dropping out), despite having very high signal strength.

Do you have Off Air Guides set for Do Not Acquire? If not, try that.

Same problem on Cox HD for WJLA. Flashing and no sound. Switched to WLJA low def and PIP until the signal is consistent.

I guess that I can live with the SD skycam for a while as long as they reserve an HD camera for boobcam... :)

Way to go, WJLA. Glad to know you guys have your super sophisticated, state of the art, computerized HD facilities. There's probably no one in the master control room, and no one realizes there's even a problem.
You suck.

Should have kept my trap shut. Since the start of second half, I've had intermittent audio, and the video flickers from 16:9 HD to black about every three seconds, with spurts of 4:3 SD. The video drops occur during commercials, too.

The Starpower gods are displeased in D.C. So much for my very first post to the boards.

The gerbils in Master Control probably gnawed through a wire and now can't fix it...

This is most likely the most highly watched HD broadcast in the DC market ever, and WJLA comes through like a champ...nice showcase...

Here in Albuquerque, great pic, but audio, particularly dialog in commercials, very erratic. Sometimes Madden's level is low also. Michael's seems to be normal. Similar to other comments, must be at Network Level. AV receiver shows digital reception. You net guys listening???

Nice pic in Seattle. BUT.....major sync issues. 5.1 is producing a popping / snapping static ONLY in the center channel during game broadcast. Very annoying.

Not sure if it's the night and shadows causing the probelms, but it's almost like the bit rate is low. Not quite pixelated, but blotchy. It's decent but there is room for improvement.
I noticed the exact same thing on all three BEV channels. The turf looks to be pixelating and flashing on the close ups, same thing with the walls of the stands in the endzone. As long as I keep my eyes on the players everything looks great. And as for being due to low bitrate, i'm not sure, but it does remind me of a poor mpeg1(vcd) encode.
