Many screenings of Forrest Gump were cropped. Tonight on ABC Family, which has cropped it in the past, FULL OAR EVEN on the SD channel.
Titanic on Oxygen 4:3 cropped even on the HD channel. Admittedly James Cameron himself did the pan/scanning on this title but it was been shown OAR in the past on other channels including HBO

Last year when I first had this happen I called and complained about this, here was the ladies response, "We show all our movies full screen, if you don't like it, then rent the cheaper movie in SD which is in 1.33:1 and you won't have to worry and complain about not seeing all of the movie, you'll know you're not seeing all of the movie!"
...finally retired and spending time in my HT!!!
Equipment consists of: Epson 9500 UB Projector(Avical ISFd);110" 16x9 JKP Affinity Screen;Panny BD30 Player,Tosh HDA1 Player;Definitive Speakers (Center, Towers, Rears);Earthquake P12 sub;Onkyo 608 A/V Receiver;Nevo Q50 Remote;TWC-HD Cable Box;5 Bello chairs;Coaire Mini-split A/C.
Personally I'm still amazed Disney allowed Frozen to be cropped to 16:9 for Starz!
Nice little bonus, and good movie if you are looking for something a little introspective.
Unfortunately, the El Rey feed I have is SD 4:3 that is letterboxed of the 16:9 that the El Rey Network is apparently using, with "Ghidorah" letterboxed in that 16:9, meaning I am watching a twice-letterboxed movie on an SD feed: the story is there, but not the fine detail. At least by doing a zoom on the TV I expanded what detail there was to where the movie fit the width of the screen and had the letterbox bars I would expect from a 2.35:1 feature.
Earlier in the evening I watched "Stargate" (1994) on Blu-ray, another 2.35:1 feature, on my 50-in, and I am still amazed what detail can be seen when watching the appropriate media on an appropriate screen (as contrasted to watching a subset of an SD signal zoomed in on a 32-in screen).
My very humble setup:
