I sent an email to DirecTv about adding HD programming, and specifically mentioned them adding a channel that would carry the prime time OTA networks HD content (much like Express Vu does). Here is their response with my original message at the end.

I urge everyone to send a note to them and let them know there is a strong interest in HD programming!

Dear Mike Knoebel,

Thank you for your interest in high definition television (HDTV) from
DIRECTV. DIRECTV will expand HDTV service based on demand, which is
difficult to forecast. DIRECTV customers will be able to access all
DIRECTV programming using HDTV-compatible DIRECTV PLUS Systems, some of
which are built-in to HDTV sets. As the leader in digital home
entertainment, we will continue to offer more options by remaining on
the cutting-edge of broadcasting technology. You can contact RCA and
Proscan (800) 679-4776 and Hitachi (800) 477-1212 for more information
about HDTV-compatible equipment. Please continue to visit our website
for news and updates.

message: DirecTv, I am writing to give you a suggestion about
programming to add to DirecTv. I have a High Definition TV, so I am
interested in DirecTv adding HD programming. Has there been discusion
about adding a channel that would carry the programs that the networks
are broadcasting in HD? For example, much of CBS' lineup is in HD, so
you could have a channel that broadcasts these shows. But on Tuesday
nights, ABC has NYPD Blue in HD, so you could switch over to that. Or
when special events are broadcast in HD, you coulde show them (Super
Bowl, The Masters Golf, The Final Four College Basketball, etc). There
is a growing demand for HD programming, and I sure would like to see
DirecTv become a leader! Mike Knoebel DirecTv Subscriber
