Yeah, I'd been trying to figure out if Kirk had met Spock before he became Captain of the Enterprise. Appears their academy records don't match up either. While they were there at the same time, they were assigned to different ships (and Kirk was assigned much earlier).

Kirk:
Quote:
2250 — As a first-year Academy student with ensign rank, assigned to U.S.S. Republic NCC-1371

2254 — Upon graduation, promoted to lieutenant and posted to U.S.S. Farragut under Capt. Garrovick
Spock:
Quote:
2252 – As cadet, assigned under Capt. Christopher Pike, U.S.S. Enterprise

2253 – Commissioned as ensign, still aboard Enterprise under Pike

Great...then when they are finally rescued, it is a Minbari ship piloted by Delenn.

That would be a challenge. It has been a while since I saw the the series so my memory is probably a little fuzzy on the details but:

  1. Didn't Sisko get stuck in the wormhole with the wormhole aliens?
  2. Dax (the real one: Terry Farrell) died
  3. Odo joined the link
  4. The Louise Fletcher character died
  5. Gul Dukat died?

Not to mention Brock Peters died (he played Sisko's father). And then there's the crew all going their separate ways.

I so much would of preferred a DS9 movie. But there is so much back story it wasn't like any of the other trek series where you could almost watch them any ol order and it just wouldn't matter.

It would end up with a small hard core following like Serenity which would be very cool for us but no one else...

The character, not the actress.

Exactly. Even though it was Terry's idea to leave the show (to work on Becker, Lord knows why), she was always my favorite character. Once the Jadzia character died, Dax just wasn't the same (although Nicole DeBoer did an OK job as the new host).

Without breaking any forum rules....
Can anyone suggest as to where I might be able to download (for $$ or free- whatever) a few episodes of Enterprise in HD?
I just picked up the season 3 DVD set at FYE last night for $59 (used :D ). The PQ is really great, but I'd like to compare it to real HD.
Thanks!

Before the end of the year, all of the Star Trek TV Series & Movies will be re-released in one of the 2 new HD DVD Formats.

Glad I only paid $59 for the season 3 DVD set!
I guess I can wait for the HiDef DVD sets. Hopefully it will be HD DVD not BD because I don't intend to shell out $999 for a BD DVD player.
Amazon sells the Enterprise season sets for around $100/season on SD DVD. Hopefully, the HiDef DVD sets won't be too much more

I seriously doubt that, considering four of those series were finished on standard definition video.

Don't you mean three of those series, not four?

TNG, DS9, and Voyager were finished on standard definition video. The original series from the sixties was finished on 35 mm film, and not on any type of video...and, of course, "Enterprise" was finished in high definition video.

You forgot the animated series. But now that I think about it, it's old enough that I don't know if it would have been done on film or video.

My bad, the animated series was finished on 35-mm film. It would be interesting to see how that translates to HD.

A bit OT, but what's with the crazy list pricing of the Trek DVD sets anyway?

Star Trek The Original Series - The Complete First Season (1966) List Price $129.98
Star Trek The Next Generation - The Complete First Season (1987) List Price $69.98
Star Trek Deep Space Nine - The Complete First Season (1993) List Price $69.98
Star Trek Voyager - The Complete First Season (1995) List Price $129.98
Star Trek Enterprise - The Complete First Season (2001) List Price $129.98

In view of the above pricing, I couldn't begin to guess at the range for the Hi Def DVD sets...

What's crazy about it? The older releases are cheaper than the newer ones.

Not to mention that it is unlikely that Paramount would flood the market with 20+ seasons of Trek television programming and 10 features all in an 8 month period.

Those prices are cheap compared the the Star Trek TOS on VHS for $9.99 an episode.

TOS, Voyager & Enterprise series for $129?
TNG & DS9 series for $69

After TOS, TNG is generally considered the best spin-off (and DS9 after that)... so why the discount?
.. Or, why so much for Voyager and Enterprise which are considered sub par?

Where's the logic in the pricing??
