It's funny that you mentioned format, as I just watched the 2 part "spinoff" episodes from JAG that were just shown on HDNet. The characters of Gibbs, Abby, and DiNozzo were pretty well set. Ducky was very strange, though and the other member of the team (Vivian Blackadder played by Robyn Lively) was replaced by Sasha Alexander when the show started.

Also, from Wiki : Sasha Alexander appeared in Episode 200 using digitally manipulated CGI footage from the Season 2 episode "SWAK"; Lauren Holly appeared in Episode 200 using digitally manipulated CGI footage from the Season 5 episode "Judgement Day"

Liked the episode. Was glad my DVR has slo-mo playback for the flashback clips so could actually see what was going on.

That's the one thing I wouldn't figure now...

First, he already did that when he "retired" after the amnesia storyline a few seasons back... Second, the house down there on the beach where he and his mentor were living has been destroyed... and Lastly, that's where his mentor went to retire and now that mentor is dead.

I would expect Gibbs to pick a new place to retire now... though they seem to be setting up for the possibility that he will open up more to possibly starting a new family at some point and finally letting go of his personal pain from his first marriage.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

I agree that the 200th episode was boring. Also saw no point in the revised timeline with Tony and Kate being a couple. They never had the chemistry that Tony/Ziva had.

I wouldn't totally agree with that. The problem was they only had 2 seasons to build the chemistry and then Sasha decided she wanted off the show. So with 5-6 seasons for the Tony/Ziva build up of course there's more to it.

But there are definitely episodes in season 1 and 2 where you see it such as then they are in quarantine together, and the ongoing joke about Kate doing a white t-shirt contest on spring break etc.

First thing I thought when I saw the kid "it's Tony's son", because he looks like 9, and Tony being away for 9 years and a half.... and I thought the girl wanted to see Tony to tell him it was his.. but nope.. they didn't go there..

Her character was totally in charge, and was manipulating everyone in sight, until Gibbs just appeared at her son's school. Boy, that really unnerved her! Tables turned. She also never said the almost obligatory, "I have worked with him for YEARS, and I would never have guessed that he was even capable of such a thing" speech.

I'm 38 and I thought she looked great especially in the black dress at the formal reception.

Is she going to be a recurring character?

I certainly hope so but really doubt it.

I believe she has ageless beauty, at least so far. Seems very natural and comfortable in her own skin.

I read somewhere that she was scheduled for two episodes.

She's been a favorite of mine for a long time and has remained so as we've grown older "together". Any time I've seen her interviewed she usually pokes some fun at herself and says she doesn't understand why people would find her attractive.

Been watching this show for years. One thing I cannot comprehend is why it looks like it's filmed thru Vaseline? WTF?
Why would they decease the sharpness by doing this? What possible reason would the producers have for Vaseline Vision?
Things that make you go Hmmmmm.....

They wanted the show to have the same look when they moved to HD cameras that they were getting on film before... so while we may or may not like that (I personally don't mind), it was intentional to set the mood and look.

NCIS: LA, on the other hand, they go for the "clean" HD look that seems to please people.

Funny thing is Film has a higher resolution than video....

I look at it as a stylistic choice, plus Mark Harmon and a few others are not getting any younger.

Well, I oversimplified a bit... They were using film before and also using some soft filters to achieve a certain look. They basically didn't want the "clean" look that some HD or film-shot shows get when aired in HD... they want that soft/grainy look... so they made sure they could still achieve it when they switched over to the HD cameras.

Who in their right mind deliberately makes a program look crappy? This makes absolutely no rational sense. The producers are sitting around a table, one says to the other, "Yo dude, let's smear Vaseline on the cameras just to screw with the audience and make it look like Shiite! The others put down their crack pipes and say in unison" smashing idea Bro. You're a fracken genius!"

Things that make you Hmmmm... WTF!

In many cases the sindicated show looks much better on the cable channels, at least to my eyes.
