Holy schnikies..... so what are we thinking..... 5 or 6 wins maybe? Also, has anyone looked to see if any of the road games are in HD on other networks?

For the record, I'm not a ND fan..... just an HD fan. Heh heh...

All the other games are on ABC, except Purdue, which is either ESPN or ESPN2.
So we'll have to wait on the HD announcements.

You are absolutely right, RAMSRULE -- and not only was I wrong about the year, I was also wrong about the time of year DST becomes effective. Yikes!

From about.com:
"... The United States Congress has passed the energy bill that would extend Daylight Saving Time by four weeks from the second Sunday of March to end on the first Sunday of November.

President Bush is expected to sign the bill, making it law, next Monday (August 8) in Albuquerque at Sandia Labs. Once the bill becomes a law, the change to Daylight Saving Time will begin in March 2007. See below for the new "spring forward, fall back" dates for the next few years...."

Just wondering whether winning not a single bowl game in around 10 or 15 years will translate into a special High Def bowl in 2005-6. And.... Who will the new coach be in 2007?

Unfortunately the only way we'll be seeing the Maize and Blue beat up the Irish in HD-- is in person. I don't know what's come over me, but for some reason I'm just not all that confident in the possibility that ABC will actually have HD college football games this year.

Is there any reason you put Notre Dame in blue, fredfa? Are you implying to their emotional state of being? ;)

Nope, wolfie, just the Irish uniform color (although it probably should have been a tad darker).

TY was 8-0 to start then went to green and it all went downhill from there. Don't think Weis will bother with color changes - RECRUIT and COACH is the answer.

I think ND should don the green uni's more often! They always seem to do so well in them! ;)

I'm hoping to be at the big house this year again too, 45 yard line, row 44! :p

So all Notre Dame games are in HD, what about the Grambling-Southern game and the Gator Bowl? I feel like this should be an obvious yes, but you never know.

Bad that we lost two close games in SB, but that 38-0 spanking in AA in 2003... Absolutely beautiful!

I'm sure you enjoyed it but I'll take 2 close wins. That blow-out and the 3 USC blow-outs helped ND fans in the long run. This is a great CF tradition drenched series and almost all of the games go down to the wire. However, understand it might not go on much longer if LLLoyd gets his way!

According to http://www.hdsportsguide.com/ ABC will do three regular season college games in HD. Miami vs Florida State and two others TBA. They will do all five of their bowl games in HD.

Doesnt ABC have a few national broadcasts later in the year? Possibly UM vs. OSU? Or some of the Thanksgiving weekend rivalry games in the Big12 (texas/texas a&m for instance)? Havent looked that closely at the schedules, but I would guess that its got to be some of the big rivalry games/national broadcast games.

Why should he? He was responding to a sarcastic ? about the ND coach. Actually Brady gives Weis a lot of credit for helping him become a great Pro QB. He was a mediocre college QB who didn't win a NC like Montana. It's funny how this thread has gone from HDTV to ND fans/haters thread. Guess that's why ND was involved in 6 of the top 20 rated games on TV last year - including the #1 game.

wow, this is great news. I clicked on the thread expecting the same answer as before, a resounding no, but it sounds like this is really happening. As a life long Irish fan who just got HDTV last winter, this definitely makes my day.

So we'll have to wait on the HD announcements.
What a coincidence, was just looking today to see if ND games were going to be on HD this year ('99 Grad). Awaiting my Samsung 5668 on pre-order from TVA Powerbuy, and just got the confirmation call a few days ago. Hopefully it arrives before the season starts! After 1.5 years of researching HD tvs, I guess I picked the right time to buy! :)

I checked ABC and ESPN info....found the same that RemyM did for ABC. 3 games...one of which will be the Miami at FSU game...the other 2 have not been named. I'm guessing they'll wait until later in the season and pick the best match-ups to put in HD.

The ESPN/ABC Press release also says, and I quote "Every ESPN Saturday and Thursday prime-time telecast -- ESPN College Football Saturday (for the third consecutive year) and ESPN College Football Thursday (for the second straight year), respectively, will be offered in high definition on ESPN HD. For the first time, every ESPN2 College Football Saturday game will be offered in high definition on ESPN2 HD. " So it looks like there are going to be a ton of ESPN games in HD....good for all CFB fans! Too bad most of the ND (away) games are on ABC. :(

But GREAT news about NBC! Thanks radiocranium and George Thompson for the info and the confirmation. I'm surprised it's taken NBC this long...given the exclusive television contract and all. They spent a chunk of money to put lights on ND stadium during the renovation, you'd think they'd invest in the high dollar camera equip and trucks for their only college football presence and one of the cornerstones of their sports coverage (always mention "Notre Dame Football" when running their ads for NBC sports).

I can't wait for the start of the season!
