Yeah Dean inside the closet was funny.

I can't believe how deep Kevin Nealon's character is willing to go...

woo hoo! the show has gotten much better of late. We need more Shane. two threads aren't making sense to me...

1) why did Nancy seek out Peter's ex-wife? I don't see the motivation here.

2) why did Dean move into Celia's house?

gotta love Doug - "there's no sushi in prison...unless you count d*ck"

The simple answer, on the surface isthey have a common bond. They are widowed moms trying to get through life.

I think the answer is easy here. It made sense to sell one house, and Celia can't sell hers since she doesn't actually own it.

I thought the show explained this perfectly at the end of that episode where Nancy and Valerie first meet. I'm talking about the scene where Sullivan and Celia are in bed together. While Nancy approaches the clinic where Valerie works, you hear Sullivan's monologue about how Celia and himself are alike, and how he has to know more about her.

I thought it was a very clever device, and it spelled out Nancy's motivations to a tee.

Nancy, you are a goddess and if you kill that arrogant woman Celia, I will build a shrine to you on my website. This episode rocked and I truly felt for poor Dean in the clutches of that horrible shrew.

I think this is the first time I see in TV a woman cleaning herself after having sex. That was too real.

tbertino - I would be inclined to agree except...
  1. Dean & Celia were well on their way to divorce
  2. Dean & Isabelle were living off her modeling career
  3. Dean would've had motorcycle insurance to cover his recovery

at least they could've spent a few moments explaining this plot development that the other house had been sold. it's a big leap that left me thinking "how'd we get here?"

AnimeNut - it's a clever device, yes, and that's precisely why it doesn't work with Nancy & Valerie. Even though he says it, you never believe that Sullivan & Celia are at all alike...he's just doing what he does - i.e. charms his way into whatever (in this case Celia's pants). in the history of the show Nancy hasn't sought out any widowed, single-Mom companionship. why Valerie? why now?

this show's narrative has been tighter than what we're getting this season. it's unfortunate because this could be a great show, rather than a good one.

God I love Doug. If/when this series ends someone should pick up Kevin Nealon and pretty much rip off the Doug character. Just the fact that he's a sleazy politician type but in a weirdly open and honest way (honest sleaziness?) is hilarious. His ******** veneer is like one micron thick and then you get the truth. That line from last night; "Volunteering is for saps, we expect to feed off the tit of local government just like you". Awesome, cuts right to the bone.

I continue to enjoy the show - a lot. It has been gratifying to see how the writers have turned around a season that started badly by killing off the unbearable U-Turn, figuring out a way to rid us of his equally wearing cousin, and getting Andy Botwin out of the Army. Clearly, the writers - finally - figured out that unpredictable violence and stupidity aren't fertile fields for comedy.

I thought the development of Nancy's relationship with the First Mrs. Scottson was well handled. There seemed to be a chemistry between them at first that was credible and the ensuing arguments over money have made sense, too. Anyway, it's good to see that the show has regained its balance.

I also enjoy the creatively profane and amoral Doug. Cankles, indeed!

Weeds is still a good show

I liked this past weeks episode. Doug was trying to sweet talk Celia and Celia did not want it. ha

Edit: I miss Californication.

The end was tonight. The pressure to snitch was too easy.
Doug in the religious circle was funny.

Is Weeds being renewed? It almost felt like it was over at the end of this Season's finale.

Obviously missed the "new episodes coming in 2008" splash. I did get the feeling that the season was truncated by the fires ...

I didn't notice the "coming in 2008". The way the show ended could have easily been the last show of all. Did anybody else notice the blow up sex doll behind the guy using the laptop in the evacuation "shelter"? Kevin Nealon was great in this episode.

Just a great episode to end the season with. Reboot coming in '08. The look of relief, even satisfaction on Nancy's face while she was torching her own house ahead of the fires (just to be on the safe side, I guess) was telling - fire purifies. And then tooling off on the Segway. Kevin Nealon was gold running around the shelter with his banjo - great lyrics if you were paying attention. And Malvina Reynolds going Old School with the Little Boxes theme. I know some folks were disappointed with the early season arc involving U-Turn, but I hope they now realize that it was necessary to move Nancy along on her journey. Me, I loved 'em all. Great season!

Interesting news about the upcoming season. Hate to see some of my favorites leaving the show but so long as they have "Doug" still in there, I will give it a chance

'Weeds' Smokes Out Cast

And wait, yes: You didn't know that Malco was gone from "Weeds"? I'm told that most of the cast is gone as creator Jenji Kohan reinvents the show with Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins, Justin Kirk and Kevin Nealon surviving the move from fictional Agrestic, Calif. which burned down at the end of last season to a new spot in the Bay Area. That's too bad: I'll really miss those characters, particularly sassy Tonye Patano (as Heylia).

Logic would say that they must move to the Bay area with the Botwins to start phase two of the family business. That's just a guess...we'll have to wait until June to find out.

Doug and Celia lived in Agrestic/Majestic, so their houses must have burned as well. I don't know that we ever found out where Heylia and Conrad lived, but it wasn't Agrestic/Majestic.

Damn, looks like Conrad's out. My wife will be very disappointed. Especially now that she's seen his bare ass on season 3.
