Face it - this show is not going to appeal to the old-timers who long ago made up their minds on the "morality" of Mary Jane and who have bought into the whole War on Drugs. For them, this show probably celebrates the decline of civilization. But for the younger generations who know better, 'Weeds' is a certifiable hoot and a breath of fresh air.

Hmm. I'm neither old nor young; I'm dead center on the life spectrum. I know a lot of people from both ends, and I have to say your generalization is pretty weak when compared to reality. Forty years after the 60's, the older generation is the one that invented the drug culture, and most of the ones I know have neither forgotten nor forsaken it, and they absolutely love the show.

If you're young, I know it's easy to be xenophobic about a group that really is pretty alien to you. I clearly remember being that way. Heck, they're alien to me sometimes, too. However, you should do more research before pigeonholing a huge mass of people. Nancy Reagan's politics didn't define the generation.

5.9 million viewers! wow. I like 'Weeds', but now I'm afraid HBO might buy the show from Showtime and then cancel it for not having 'Sopranos' numbers.

-HBO, in a noble pursuit to crush any show with less than 'Sopranos' ratings!-

Glad I checked this thread, I missed the premire. I should be able to catch it again before the week ends, I hope. I liked Season 1. It was good, but not great. It's one of those shows where the supporting characters outshine the main character.

I would agree with that, poop. While all the other characters sort of orbit around Nancy, she's really just the anchor of a superb ensemble. I never thought I'd like Kevin Nealon this much. And Justin Kirk is a scream; it would be too easy to paint his character with too broad a brush, but he provides just enough restraint at just the right times.

There's an edge to this show that I think adds to it's appeal. You're never quite sure where they're going, and they're not afraid to mine dark situations for whatever levity they can wring out of 'em. Certainly worthy of 30 minutes a week of tube-time.

Kevin Nealon manages to be so cool (yet stupid) that I almost idolize him. He maintains the thinnest veneer of (outward) respectability while living like a true hedonist--no guilt, no apologizing for it.

I've never been a Kevin Nelon fanboy, but I enjoy him in this show. I still dont like the way that Celia (Liz Perkins) speaks to the daughter, but I'm sure some people do speak to their kids that way.

Two best parts of the show:
1. When Nancy is picking up her goods
2. Anything with Andy

Very good show.

I'm 100% not a Kevin Nealon fan, but this shows just fits him so well.

When he called Celia " a cancer c%nt " . That was hysterical.

It is awful the way Celia speaks to her daughter, but I'm 100% sure that's the way it is in some household with parents who have to much money and to much time.

All the music was good except the opening theme, that band wrecked it.

It is on right now. The guide (on Comcast) is wrong too. It says "Dirty Deeds".

So far, the first two episodes have showed, IMO, a step up from last season. What a bombshell to drop at the end too! It will be interesting to see what happens.

Ok, so I'm just now watching episode 1 of season 2 courtesy.............., and the funniest line is has to be when Doug says to Celia, Doug: "You will rue the day"; Celia: "Rue my a*s"; Doug: "There isn't a rue big enough for that"!

Or how about when Celia's daughter says to her: "You can say p*ssy, but dad can't say f*ck". Good stuff.

I saw it HD for the first time last night - it looks fabulous in HD. I've been "catching up" with the DVDs. What a great show! Andy becoming a Rabbi is hilarious. I'm addicted.

I powered through the first season in two nights (on dvd), and just watched the first 2 episodes of Season 2 (don't ask me how ) On Monday (the day after Deadwood ends), I am cancelling HBO and subcribing to Showtime just for this show in HD. I had to rewind this past episode 3 times because I lost track of what they were saying from laughing too damn hard.

Great show!!!!!...and I have been in love with MLP since her days on The West Wing.

The last show was great. When the drug dealer threw the knife into the guy's leg I died laughing. I have to say the show is better when Nancy is not in the picture.

I wonder if Domino's is feeling the impact of "Weeds" on Monday nights.

So the maid never did order that pizza, right?

Is that convention for real. I know about the one in Amsterdam, but I didn't know the had one in SoCal.

Hilarious, classic, worth saving for repeated plays, one of the funniest few minutes of TV I've ever seen.
