Excellent episode, loved it. Funny & touching. I wouldn't have minded at all if they had made this the series finale episode and had Sam/Dean driving away into the night as the final scene.

Loved the 200th episode. It was perfect.

The author and the tech did an excellent job, and Chuck shows up at the end!!!

Excellent episode, one of the best in a LONG time. The ending song/tribute of Wayward son was actually touching. Just so well done.

Very creative episode and I enjoyed it immensely. I like that they diverge like this occasionally.

I actually would have liked for this to be a slightly longer episode so they could have shown more of the play. The kids were doing a good job, especially with the singing.

Chuck was a surprise. That has to mean something.

Also, the Adam reference... I expected Sam & Dean to have a moment where they reflected on how they have completely forgotten about Adam.

It would be interesting if Adam became the next big bad they had to fight. He's been locked up in the cage for years, or decades in hell time. If he was let loose or escaped drama ensues.

Followed up a great episode with one of the worst in the series in my opinion. Pretty disappointing. Not funny, not scary, not suspenseful, just tired.

Humm ... (1/28/15) a somewhat disturbing and brutal episode ... I'm not sure how to react to it.

They are still knocking things off the bucket list... with splitting characters into good/evil and what they did tonight... still waiting, no DEMANDING, the episode where Sam and Dean get magically transformed into women.

The gender change is on the bucket list... and they have to do it just for all the cool lines girl-Dean could have when realizing he is hot

I thought this was an enjoyable, fun episode without the Mark of Cain albatross. Grimm done right.

Decent episode - lot's of great references like:

- Dave Grohl and Kurt Cobain
- Billy Bass
- Christine
- Frozen
- The Lost Boys (death by stereo)
- The Lawnmower Man
- A fraternity with the initials "STD" (though Lambda Lambda Lambda would have been better)

The episode did get pulled down a bit by the "Mark of Kane" moping that occurred, though.

I was hopeful that Crowley's mom was leaving since she packed her bags, but no such luck.

I've grown increasingly weary of the 'prince of darkness' as ordinary executive dealing with managerial and family problems just like anyone else. It was a novel approach, but after so much use, it has only served to strip away any real sense of dark mystery and malevolence about the character. I would prefer more inscrutability and more fear which is generated or enhanced by the more typical remoteness of such primary and powerful characters.

Anyone else thinking that the "Dean's in trouble" comment from Sam at the end of the episode wasn't really "earned" by the writing or the performance of the actor portraying Dean?

There was nothing obvious or even subtle resulting from the battle with Cain to suggest that comment to me. Unless Sam meant it more in a general way due to Dean's ongoing issues resulting from carrying of "the mark".

I think Jensen Ackles has done a great job as Dean through the years. Go all the way back to when their dad dies in the first season...that's when his acting stepped up.

To me, Dean was a little too normal after the Cain fight, and that tipped off Sam. When has Dean ever said "yep, that was a good one, time to catch some zzz's guys, laterz"? He's always been angry or amped up or just broken down in these situations before.

I must say that the lack of "grain" on this show is really taking away from its grit. The show feels too clean/smooth, and has been ever since they switched to the video look.

That's how I read it too... Going into the battle, they figured they would get:

1. Crazy Mad Dean that they would have to kill.

OR

2. Regular Dean who had struggled to hang onto humanity.

#1 would never have given up the blade... so that was easy... but #2 wouldn't have given it up easily... they would had to talk him down before he gave it up.

The Dean that came out of that fight was too calm and too collected and appeared to have it basically too together. As noted, Dean usually has to wind down... so no wind down means he was really hiding it... which is bad.

Dean can't be the Big Bad this season, can he? Very rare for main characters. Sort of like Willow in Season 6 of Buffy.

Not to mention, he explicitly said he was scared before the fight with Cain.

The timing was all wrong, but I thought that there might be a remote hope, if it had happened at the end of the season, that when Dean killed Cain, the mark would disappear from him. The explanation would be some kind of link between the mark and the person of Cain, so when Cain died, the mark ceased to exist. I guess that didn't happen.

Maybe they will have to amputate his arm using the blade...

Start with the last episode of season 2 and then go to season 3. I still watch and enjoy the show, but seasons 3-5 are IMO the best and most innovative.

Got better ...

then got increasingly worse, tired and lazy.

Season five should be your cut off point. It's up and (mostly) downhill from there with a rapid decline to Hell each season.

Just skip all the episodes dealing with angels, Leviathan, arc plots, Metatron, Kevin Tran ...

I think the only episodes worth recommending are the standalone comedy diversions and the few times the Men of Letters get some airtime.

Crowley isn't Satan (Prince of Darkness).
He's a demon who used his cunning to weasel his way into the position of King of Hell.

Are we sure there isn't a part of Cain hiding IN Dean now?
