Fair point. I lost sight of that a little.

Which raises the point, just where is the Prince of Darkness keeping himself these days?

Curiously disappeared, just like God.

Perhaps they're off on a couples retreat.

Not curious at all, they had two seasons waffling about it! He's still in The Cage where Sam got thrown at the end of season five and was subsequently rescued from without a soul.

It was even referenced in the musical episode this season, although I never bothered to refresh my memory if Adam is in The Cage too.

Unlike last week when we wasted more television production resources on Crowley and his Mommy.

I swear, any time I see a description involving either of them I groan before hitting play on the DVR.

I know. I wish she would just go away but now that Crowley's thrown her out of hell she's going to get her vengeance on.

I still think one of the biggest blunders on the show was getting rid of Bobbie. He was a good portion of the glue that held the show together.

I always assumed the actor (Bobby) wanted to do other things... he shouldn't have been the expensive one on the show. But I've barely seen him anywhere.

Meanwhile... I like the Crowley/Mom subplot... and his mom is hot! That's not why I like it... it's character growth for Crowley... also it feels like somehow she is now going to tie into the Cain stuff... maybe in trying to screw everyone over she ends up inadvertently helping them.

I checked imdb and Jim Beaver (Bobbie) seems to have been fairly busy. Did a stint on Justified (which I just started watching on Netflix).

As far as Crowley's Mom, yeesh. To each his own, I guess.

An older, not particularly attractive man in a super competitive acting world?
Not the type of actor who can afford to be picky about roles. You take whatever you can get.
I bet he was pretty bummed when he was written off of the show, and would have much preferred to keep riding that acting gravy train for as long as possible.

I highly doubt he was pulling a David Caruso type move (although I guess that didn't turn out too badly for him in the end, finally landing that lead comedic role in CSI:Miami).

Lots of references to older episodes/storylines in this episode.

Some intriguing prospects:

Crowley's mom has the magic necessary to remove the mark. Is it hidden within her spells that were taken by the Men of Letters?

Lucifer. If Kripke can come back, and they can map out one final season to finish this show with Lucifer back in the fray, that would be awesome.

That wasn't my take away.

It sounds like she knows it's a spell but it's beyond her abilities to do anything about it. That won't stop her from trying, which means more terrible episodes with her appearing.

Personally, I think a good option would be bringing back Jesse, the kid who can make things happen if he believes it's true from the episode titled "I Believe that Children Are Our Future" (Season 5, Episode 6).

When we left off with him, he had simply wished himself off to Australia from the poster in his bedroom. Perhaps he could close the means to exit Hell once and for all, bottle up all the demons and monsters and actually become the new God, who seems to have little interest in the job anymore.

That was my take on it as well, she knew exactly what it was, but it wasn't something she could readily fix with her bag of tricks.

Ever since the musical episode I have found myself thinking (unlike the Winchesters) about their half-brother Adam...

Sam and Lucifer, Adam and Michael, all locked in the cage for eternity... but oops... Sam gets rescued... so Adam is still down there... and basically nobody gives a flip. I know they barely knew him... but the way they rage on about family and all makes me wonder why they haven't given a passing thought to Adam. My gut says this eventually will be built into something that bites them in the behind. A writer will eventually work this into things. This show has always been about consequences for actions, even if it takes a couple of seasons to get around to it.

I don't know what the "next" story after Cain would be... but they need to solve this sooner rather than later. They can't drag it out indefinitely. This season is a little odd... it's a back to basics in many ways... there is no season-long baddie they are out to get. First time that has been true in a while I think. Once they got into the angels stuff, every season pretty much had a major badguy to fight by season's end... this season is back to the weekly adventures mostly.

Yeah, Beaver's not that type of actor and wasn't bitter about being killed off. He still does acting, but is also a writer and playwright. When his wife died of cancer ten years ago he had to take care of his autistic daughter too. He wrote a book about it a few years back.

At this point I think it's safe to say his track record outweighs his youth and looks. If he's going to get cast in a role it's probably because directors and producers already know him and like him for the part.

I believe he had other commitments and wasn't available so he was written off.

I thought the first twist with the witch was good. I was not expecting that at all, although I knew something was up when Dean did not immediately react to her.

Dean had previously said the book was talking to him... I wonder why he doesn't hear it talking to him still... a proximity thing?

Also.. that clan that was tracking the book.. since it isn't destroyed, seems like whenever it is out of the magic box they should still be sending people to look for it.

And despite what anyone else says... I still like Crowley's mom!

You know what -- Dean and the Mark I really don't care. Hope the writers come up with something much better for the next and odds are last season, they are running on empty at the moment.

Not to mention all the other old plot lines still around, Crowley (sooooo over done), Castiel, etc. etc.

Season 10 (Last Season) : Adam and Lucifer out of the bag. Various past cast members and guest stars return in different episodes. After all, this is Supernatural, and no one really dies... until the Series Finale.

Series goes out with a bang.

After a few years, 8 part mini-series.

Then, RIP.

Umm... this is season 10... so next season would be season 11!

Meanwhile... for the last few years (since season 5 maybe) people have been screaming "they're out of ideas" but we're still rolling.

Every show isn't a winner... and admittedly some of it isn't as good as the first 5 seasons... but most of the time this show and the characters are better than anything else on... and certainly better than most of what's on the CW.

I haven't heard anything that makes me think this show is even in the running for "maybe"... it seems to be a solid definite every year for renewal... so I bet it's on for a few more years at least. They didn't stop at 5 when they had a natural ending... and they didn't start this season with an eye on ending it... so I think they are still planning long-term for this show.
