Loved the premiere! PQ is nothing to write home about, but I loved the way it was written and played. Very funny!

In shots without motion, the PQ was quite stunning at times. NBC did a great job with the PQ. My local screwed it up. Lots of blocking with motion and flashing lights.

For me, it's caused locally by multicasting. Before they started multicasting, I saw none of this.

Generally though, I was distracted by Jaime Pressly.:O

IMO this show is horrible. The same old cliched crap they try and push every new season.

This wont last the whole season.

Everyone has their own opinion, I just don’t agree with yours.
I think this was the best new show I’ve seen this season. It was

Yeah, it made me laugh a few times. I'll watch a few episodes before I decide.

I agree with MITS55, I thought it was very original and clever. The absence of a laugh track is a big plus in my book. Kind of had a "Raising Arizona" feel to it.
TV needs more comedies like this - clever, funny, and with heart. I'll keep watching.

I didnt hate the show at all, but I expected it to be alot funnier than it was..

I watched OTA (with 1 sub) and thought PQ was a little below average but not bad..

Ill record it next week and watch it Im sure, but its gonna have to make me laugh a little bit harder before I commit to the season...

The maid is obviously smoking hot, that cant hurt the chances of me sticking around for the season :)

Amen. That is my biggest pet peeve. I watched 2 and a half Men last season and stuck with it, despite the canned laughter. However, after not having watched sitcom's all summer and seeing the premiere on Monday, I nixed it off of my Season pass. I can't take it anymore. A good comedy shouldn't have to tell you when something was supposed to be funny.

i couldn't agree more...what's funny to me may not be funny to someone else, whether it's intended to make you laugh or not.

Arrested Development, The Office and Scrubs are all good/great comedies and the absence of a laugh track really adds to them...nice to see Earl and Kitchen Confidential following suit.

I think a bigger threat would be American Idol. I liked the show. Some one else mentioned it, but I loved the "Raising Arizona" feel. I think Jason Lee really captures the likable low life well. The problem I had were the previews on Universal HD. They show most of the laugh out loud moments early in the episode over and over again so they weren't as funny.

LMAO, the GF and I compared it to Raising Arizona and the writing/joke punch style of Scrubs. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going.

I typically enjoy anything with Jason Lee. The absence of a laugh track is a plus for me. With Earl and the Office back to back it makes for an enjoyable hour of television viewing.

I kinda of liked it, but I thought I would be funnier. I don't know I just love the character of Jason Lee from Chasing Amy and I expect him to be like that in every movie and show :p

I didn't like Jaime, too trashy for me, even with different clothes. I think Nadine Velazques should be interesting to watch.

I LOL'd with the thing about the song the brother liked a lot.

Earl averaged more viewers than House last night...

I didn't think House could be beaten on tuesday nights..Is the novelty wearing off already?

(From Marc Berman’s Programming Insider column of Thursday, September 21, 2005 at Mediaweek.com)

My Name Is Earl at 9 p.m. debuted with a solid 10.3/15 in the overnights (#1t), 14.94 million viewers (#1), and a 6.4/16 among adults 18-49 (#1).

Season two of The Office kicked off with a disappointing 6.3/ 9 in the overnights (#3), 9.16 million viewers (#3), and a 4.3/10 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 9:30 p.m., with retention of just 61 percent in the overnights and total viewers, and 67 percent among adults 18-49 out of My Name is Earl.

Fox’s House was on the winning map with a 11.0/16 in the overnights (#1), 13.50 million viewers (#2), and a 4.9/12 among adults 18-49 (#1) at 9 p.m.

Guess that's why we have Tivo. I watched both. I am also trying Earl for a few episodes.

My only problem with it is that they've set it up with lots of potential, but then it's just a 20 minute sitcom, so no time. Take the pilot....he does all this work to give Kenny some help, then they do the "big, happy ending" with Kenny giving this little monologue about changing his life. A little sudden. And yes, there wasn't much point to watching the episode after the 5 minute commercial gave us every scene already.

Why are comedies a half hour and dramas get a whole hour? Can't we handle laughing for 40 minutes? Must not be smart enough.

That show cracked me up. I'm hooked. Added it to my season pass list last night.

Jason Lee has been on my radar ever since the Kevin Smith movies. That guy is great.

The narration made it seem very similar to Arrested Development to me. That's a good thing, if it can be as good as that show they've got something. I enjoyed it. Speaking of House, did anyone catch the MAD TV premiere this weekend, they did a spot on parody of House, very funny.

The DVR is working overtime this week.

Probably the first Season Pass for the new shows this season that I did not delete after watching the first episode.

I really didn't expect much, so I was surprised at how funny it was.

(Okay, that 200+ "jobs" to do thing is... Well, I guess they don't expect themselves to last more than 15 years :p)
