Directv guide shows the OLN-HD Boston/Philly game on channel 98 Tuesday at 4:00 pacific. Hopefully this is a sign that Directv will air more HD games each week. Enjoy.

Well it's a start. Now they have to work on getting some NBA HD.

iluvtv 11-07-2005 11:10 PM

maybe its nesn hd broadcast?

ps: just checked hdsportsguide.com and only shows oln carrying the game, wonder if it will be available to everyone who gets oln and hdpak?

I'd rather they didn't, if it means they won't carry future OLN-HD hockey games.

No, OLN has exclusive rights to their games.

According to the hdsportsguide, NESN is not doing that game in HD.

yup just realized only oln carrying the game, wonder if it will be available to everyone with oln and hdpak?

Gary Murrell 11-08-2005 04:13 AM

This is obviously a blatant move to try and steal E* customers, other signs are the up front commercials aired even on E* that state they(D*) are the only provider with OLN, and then there's D*'s main website homepage

give me a break!!

switch from E* to the evil that is D*?? Is that what they want me to do??
that is a good one (even though I have missed 3 Red Wings games already)

Man, some of you around here take all of this a little to close to the heart.

MSilla 11-08-2005 08:27 AM

D* Showing a OLN HD game? Sweet - I'll be watching. Overall I am so frustrated with the NHL HD situation here in the US that I'll take the breaks when I can get them.

Michael.

guffy1 11-08-2005 08:42 AM

Screw this third world crap :)

Wheres the NBATVHD?

If things continue at this rate (2-3 HD hockey games per week, zero NBA HD games per week), I am going to have to consider converting myself to a hockey fan..

It sounds painful, but hey, I need my HD sports!

perilous 11-08-2005 08:43 AM

If this is true...AWESOME!!!!

JMartinko 11-08-2005 09:07 AM

I noticed the listing last night as well. I hope this is a signe that D* will carry all future OLN HD games too. Now if D* can get around to carrying the HD games from CBC on Saturday I will be a 'almost' happy camper. Eventually they had better get around to carrying the regionals such as Comcast Philly, Altitude Sports, NESN, and FSN regionals games in HD as well, but I will give them a chance to get the new sats with MPG4 going first. In the meantime, this is at least a start in the right direction.

I agree with most of those, but according to Comcast, the Philly RSN will only get to D* if they give up the NFL Sunday Ticket.

Ken H 11-08-2005 09:55 AM

Looks like the HD game of the week is Tuesday, as opposed to Monday. INHD will also carry tonights game.

Topic title changed.

Ken H 11-08-2005 09:58 AM

Not to get too far off topic, but I'd bet we'll see NBA HDTV on D* in the near future.

Or, if Hell freezes over, which is probably more likely :p

iluvtv 11-08-2005 10:07 AM

so anyone know for sure if this game will be available in hd on dtv if i do not have centre ice pak?

The OLN deal is separate from the Center Ice arrangement, so it ought to be available outside CI.

What's not clear is if you must subscribe to the HD package to receive it.

RoyGBiv 11-08-2005 10:24 AM

After seeing this thread I went to try to set my HR10-250 to record it. I also have a Samsung 360 and the same thing is happening on both. If I tune to channel 98, I get a banner saying: "Upcoming Boston at Philadelphia 7 pm." If I put on the guide, channel 98 doesn't appear. Using the TiVo I tried to manually set a recording. The channel is listed, and the game appears as starting at 7 pm, but if I try to record it tells me that "This program is not available on DTV. If you receive this program from cable, please contact your cable provider." How's that for a crazy message from D*! I am perfectly willing to believe that D* is ****ed up and things will eventually get straightened out, but I am sure hoping I can record this game. BTW, I subscribe to both NHL CI and the HD package.

iluvtv 11-08-2005 10:29 AM

i do sub to the hdpak but not ci, i also noticed this game is not listed under ci anyways as its a national telecast so i would presume its avilable to everyone, you'd think they might have a banner somewhere announcing the game is in hd like maybe on 609 or 607 close to oln's 608.

You've got to be doing something wrong. There's no way that message is coming from DirecTV, and my TiVo is perfectly willing to set up this recording for me (albeit for six hours, which would wipe out several of my Tuesday SPs).

I would imagine after Sunday Ticket is over those games will become available..

Same thing with YESHD and the Nets games I bet...

dg28 11-08-2005 10:47 AM

To those of you COMPLAINING about this game being available on D* - get a life!

guffy1 11-08-2005 10:50 AM

This is sure to stop any complaints...

Brilliant idea :)

I am not in any way complaining about this game being available on D*. I am just complaining that so far my TiVo won't let me set it up to be recorded.

I don't see what one has to do with the other - except on Sundays, of course.

For Sunday Ticket, they shut down a bunch of PPV channels to get the bandwidth for more HD football. They probably don't see the financial benefit of doing so for HD hockey or basketball - for which they can't charge extra.

I was under the impression that the bandwith taken up for those ST channels was being taken up all throughout the week, not just on Sundays.

I could be totally wrong on that though..

Maybe Ken can elighten us as to why he thinks that the NBATVHD games may become available soon?

I would definatley be interested to hear his take on it..

Most of the Sunday Ticket bandwidth is taken from pay per view, but a small portion is reserved (on A-15, A-25, and B-28)
