I think the episode last night could very well possibly have been the worst CSI episode ever.

Seemed like a 'fuzzier' production this week; (man with two wives). Looked like they slapped some extra filtering behind the camera lens, making most shots softer. Puzzling since about last week a lot of shots seemed to have noticeable 'deep focus'--keeping objects in the background in focus. Wonder if they're switching photographers or equipment? Right. They kissed on the last episode, I think.
It's like.. their inlove with each other, but don't want to progress things into a serious matter.

Tonight's episode will feature that Russian? mobster again. Andrew Divoff (Ivan Sarnoff)

Viewed the doctor-in-the-chipper episode--a new grisly high!--on a new plasma (Panny TH-65VX100) and decided CSI Miami will need a special memorized color setting, assuming upcoming shows are similar. The familiar cartoonish color required lots of toning down. But everything was crisp and focused, perhaps with less camera filtering; something I wish other producers/cinematographers would emulate.

Which reminds me of cinematographer Nestor Almendros's ( "Days of Heaven," etc. ) comment in "Visions of Light: Art of Cinematography," a documentary periodically aired on the Ovation network, (and on DVD). "The moment I start seeing a movie that has a fog [diffusion] filter," he said, "I usually stay about 10 minutes and I leave. I think that's enough." -- John

So.. is Dr. Tara Price really gone from the cast?
I wonder if they will find a replacement for her.

I would think so, or they can pull a "wolfe" she does rehab and comes back, although the damage she may caused Horatio would be unforgivable.

Another show's season that ends in a nuthouse.. mmmm if there was a wedding it would be ridiculous (Calleigh and Delko perhaps?)

Then a "wedding" is possible? I think that's the only thing left to wrap-up in the show now..

This season finale was more "Eventful" than CSI's was.

So what, Calleigh Duquesne shot Eric in the chest? ha
I hate to be continued season finales, you gotta wait all year to see what happens.
(Unless this was made to be a "I wonder" type of episode.)

I'd like to see Zack from Bones do it. I would absolutely kill to see at the very beginning of the show Horatio look away and ask Zack "who is this person" and Zack go "How do I know?"

See from a recent Variety article , mentioned in a cinematography forum, that they'll shoot CSI: Miami digitally (DV) for the upcoming season. It's for cost savings, and many other dramas are switching from film, too, according to the article.

It'll be interesting to see whether DV capture and post processing will deliver Miami's familiar extra-saturated color. My preference: drop most of the camera filtering, go for deep focus more (don't defocus backgrounds), and down-convert from 4k+ shooting to boost effective resolution as much as possible. It'll be a struggle, but suspect I could still follow the story line. -- John

How did they get the cast to look younger? Was it make-up, digital effects or dynamic noise reduction? However it was done, it looked convincing.

Weird episode tonight. Taking it back to 1997, it was cool to see how Delco and H knew eachother.
I did not recall a motive for the homicide.

No motive; peeping toms tend to up the ante over time and finally decided to do the deed but killed her in the process. I would have liked to have seen Speed, but at least they mentioned his name. Great episode (although I wish they had used Dennis Franz as Horatio's old boss -- would have been great to see them together again, even if only for an episode).

It was done with digital effects, like in Benjamin Button and the last X-Men film.

I thought the fact that they addressed the origins of Caruso's "shades" was a nice nod to one of the more cheesy aspects of the show.

anyone watch the eppy last nite? suspect assaults lab, takes 4 people hostage, shoots 1 of them then eludes police.. Turns himself in and doesn't get handcuffed.. He is allowed to hug his son goodbye then walks into police car. Come on, where is the Police consultant on this show? I know its Hollywood, but please don't insult our intelligence..

It was a great episode. Note: I don't watch the show for realism, I watch it for Caruso's seemingly intentional campy performance -- it's a hoot. I call him Batman; everytime he shows up, head tilted forward, arms akimbo, one rested on his gun I say, "Batman"! Last night's key Batman line: "Let's roll" -- Batman! I guess the new guy is okay; he's a pretty-boy, but he didn't play the roll that way. Plus, it's the most beautiful HD show out there now that Pushing Daisies is gone, although Trauma looked pretty darned nice last night too.
