I live in West Texas and I have Cox Cable. We have HBO, Shotime, Starz, INHD 1 & 2, ESPN, Universal, PBS, Discovery, and CBS. I was wondering if it is like this for all Cox subscribers and if anybody knows when Cox will get more HD channels? I just wish I had more HD selections!

EDIT: I agreed to add this link to my list of the HD Channels Cox has national agreements with. Dave (DoubleDAZ) will continue to update the list as he hears of new agreements. If the hyperlink doesn't work, please use the link below:

Cox Cable Orange County CA Lineup

HBOHD 700
CBSHD 702
NBCHD 704
KTLAHD 705
ABCHD 707
KOCEHD 710
FOXHD 711
ESPNHD 715
INHD1 716
INHD2 717
TNTHD 718
DISCOVERYHD 721
SHOWTIMEHD 740

I have also heard rumors they might be finally adding StarzHD soon. It also has been said we are going to get National Geographic HD when it starts up. I just wish they would give us UniversalHD and CinemaxHD.

As for TNTHD. It is indeed very cool to have if you are a basketball fan(since ESPNHD sucks balls when it comes to offering basketball in HD). Overall I would say 50% of there programing isnt HD, yet they list 100% of there programs that way. 45% is really HD programming while the remaining 5% is a weird practice were the middle of the screen is fine but the sides seem stretched.

People stopped watching because it sucked ass. Not because they didnt know the show was on. Now they are no longer watching the shows they liked because you constantly promote other crap.

You're lucky. I've got HBO, Shotime, ESPN, Discovery, Universal, INHD1/2, PBS, and NBC. You've got Starz and CBS. I would kill to have CBS for NFL and college basketball.

It depends on your local channels. If they do not broadcast the networks in HD, you will not get the networks in HD on Cox. Apparently, only your local CBS affiliate broadcasts in HD.

Or they are having retransmission consent difficulties with the affiliates of the other broadcast networks.

The COX guy who did my installation informed me that PBS doesn't do HD(it's not carried locally by COX). I told him he should check OTA.

If COX does not carry one of your locals in HD, it's still a good idea to check and make sure it isn't in HD via OTA.

Cox in Gainesville/Ocala, FL is horrible.

700 - Special Events in HD (hardly ever on...will broadcast a 8 Tampa Bay Lightning games and 8 Orlando Magic games in HD that is it)
701 - Discovery
702 - ESPN
703 - HBO
704 - Showtime
705 - INHD
706 - INHD2
720 - PBS
722 - NBC
728 - CBS
750 - PPV special events in HD (nothing really ever on)

The local ABC affiliate broadcasts in HD but Cox does not carry it. Also notice no TNT or Universal HD yet. Rumor is we may be getting these two channels December 22.

how much more are you guys paying cox hd? I have cox digital cable and I only get 3 local channels in hd for free. But sometimes the channel looks good and sometimes horrible. Should I pay extra to get HD in espn and discovery? Is it worth it?

Does Cox send out the full stream like Comcast or do they compress it? I did a recording from CBS yesterday and the mb/sec seemed pretty low for HD.

Oh how I would love to have ESPN2 with Cox.

OMaha Cox just added CBS in HD today after a 2 year contract fight with the old owners of the CBS station (Emmis).

The way Cox Connecticut is we'll get it by Feb 2009! The date set by FCC!!

WHAT ABOUT ABC-hd( ...and who can forget LIN, another Media Monster)! Negotiations have been going on for over 3 YEARS NOW!!! WOW!!!

Yet they hold us hostage to buy they digital tier in order to receive the HD channels...not that I mind, but it would be great to get more HD content already!!

COX SUCKS!! I WISH THEY WOULD SELL OUT!! NEW CABLE COMPANY IS NEEDED!! STOP THIS MONOPOLY CRAP!!

The Feb 2009 date has nothing to do with ESPN2-HD. It is the date the broadcast stations have to turn off their analog station. It has nothing to do with cable channels.
