The map shows what game your NBC station is broadcasting.

DETROIT @ COLORADO, 2p ET ( 33.334%)
PHILADELPHIA @ PITTSBURGH, 2p ET [HD] ( 50.83%)
SAN JOSE @ LOS ANGELES, 3p PT ( 15.94%)

On the map there are five regions separated by pink lines and labeled 1 thru 5. Do they regions have anything to do with the NHL or are they a NBC thing? Either way, why are they separated that way and what does it mean?

Should I be concerned that only the Philly/Pitt game is listed as HD? I thought they all would be??

Only one game in HD. NBC has said they may show more game in HD during the playoffs, but note the word 'may'.

I am glad I get these games even in SD via Center Ice, my local NBC wasn't even showing any NHL

I hate these saturday 2:00PM network games that start in Jan every year

I would be very surprised if LA or any other west coast city saw a NBC game in HD this year. The way things are regionalized the west coast will most likely never have the game that is going to the greatest amount of viewers.

Well I'm not going to even bother watching the game in my region, the Red Wings and Avalanche. I have Center Ice so I can watch hockey whenever I want. The only incentive for me to watch the game on NBC is for the HD.

I guess I should be excited to see the Pens in HD, but with 8 straight losses and such a poor season thus far, the luster is off.

I wonder why the Reno,NV market isn't getting the SJ-LA game? They see all of the other Sharks' games on FSN Bay Area and also have an radio outlet that is on the Sharks radio network.

WNBC-DT NYC Cablevision.
The HD cams look good, even the remote controlled center ice cam is HD and looks very good.
The SD 16:9 cams look blah.

Not having all those red jerseys is helping also with the PQ.

HD is macroblocking too much here. I predicted this, and anything with even a little bit of fast-motion looks like crap on NBC.

The Olympics should be crap-tastic.:(

Ken H. and Dr. had posted that NBC will be using a new delivery method for the Olympics that is not being used now to improve the picture quality.

Here's his quote from the NBC Olympics thread:

My pregame was COL-DET SD  . Right after the "In the Glass" segment it switched on me to HD PIT-PHI with 2.0 audio  . 5 minutes into the first period it switched back to COL-DET in SD again  .
What the hell is going on???!! Guess I'm not watching hockey today :(

At the start of the intermission report the video was breaking up and now the HD and SD feed have switched to a bad low quailty digitally compressed SD 4:3 feed.

The HD feed no longer has the NBC sports pillar bars.

the other 49.17%...oh well.

Yep. two-thirds of the way into the game and the PITTSBURGH affiliate has yet to go HD. How is it possible that they don't know about this yet?

just got home and got all excited for HD NHL. Turn on the tv and sure enough the Pittsburgh game is SD here in South Florida on WPTV 5.1

I'm going to fire up the recorder that picks up 6.1 out of Miami and see if they got it working.
