Any word on the real stars of this show(and the main reason I watch it).......the pros?
The pros are getting as thin as the so called stars

Charlie Sheen would bring ratings to DWTS! John Stamos responded to the rumors that he would replace Sheen on 2.5 Men: [paraphrasing] No, I won't be joining Two and a Half Men; however, Martin Sheen called me and asked me to be his son...

The celeb/pro pairings were announced this morning on Good Morning America. Here's a link to an article with them listed.

So the lineup is...

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff
Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya
Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke
Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel
Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani
Lil Romeo and Chelsie Hightower
Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas
Hines Ward and Kym Johnson
Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer
Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin

This lineup might be a little bit more D-list than normal, but I think it's got a lot of potential for good dancing and being more competitive than the last few seasons.I'm thinking Ralph and Ray for the guys and Petra, Kendra and Chelsea for the gals all might be decent dancers.

And there might be a lot of dark-horse candidates too, like Hines, Wendy and Kirstie.

Don't you find it bit odd that the show has never been more popular but the celeb list is about as bad as the first season?

As long as Hightower is in, I am in!

The higher one is the less they have to gain by going on the show. Add in the Michael Bolton factor (coming across rather badly) and why take the risk if you don't have to... not to mention the time commitment and hard work.

Well I don't think poor Max is going to make it into the finals this year, I wonder how Kirstie will handle maxs style
Glad to see Karina and Kym back but I'll sure miss Edyta
Poor poor Tony, I just don't see Wendy going too far.
I believe this will be the first year without any Houghs, a big loss for the show.
Glad they decided to avoid a political person, I prefer to hear about dance NOT politics.

When I first read Wendy Williams, I thought it was Wendy O'Williams!

In case producers or someone affiliated is reading this thread, Next year...Charlie Sheen, Giada, and Alyssa Milano need to be on this show!

She died way back in 1998.

I'm not too sure if Giada could even keep her balance from her extreme top-heaviness, caused by the sheer weight of the three over-sized melons on her upper body - especially that massive one between her shoulders.

With these casts they've been coming up with, they ought to just merge "Dancing with the Stars" with "So You Think You Can Dance", and call it:

"So You Think You're a Star?".

I don't watch DwTS, but "Psycho" Mike Catherwood works on a morning radio show here in LA. You can hear his co-workers, and himself, wonder how he ended up on the show: http://www.kevinandbeanarchive.com/a...2011-03-01.mp3

I think it's a safe bet that this is the first time that they've had a dude who pooped in his parent's yard on the show. lol

The uproar on the lack of star power for this season ignores the seldom used, but accurate long title of this show:

Dancing with the Used to Be and Wanna Be Stars.

Normally, the balance is skewed in terms of numbers towards the Used to Be stars. This season is an exception since the totals are:

Used to Be: Kirstie, Ralph, Sugar Ray (3)
Wanna Be: Everybody else (8)

I count Hines in the Wanna Be category because his appearance is all about him preparing for his post-NFL career.

That dude from Jackass was on the show... I'm guessing he's dropped a few deuces in odd places.

When does the show air?

Sadly, now that she's decided to belch out young'uns, Giada's once eye-popping figure has lost a few perkiness points. Still, the opportunity to witness her still impressive shape in those revealing outfits would undoubtedly add a few ratings points to ABC's sequined "jiggernaut". Heck, even I might choose to tune back in if she were in the lineup.

Nah. There's always Food Network.

I saw an article about Petra Nemcova which stated that she nearly dropped out because she wanted to help out the Japanese tsunami survivors, having been a tsunami survivor herself. Personally I found it admirable of her to consider it. The article also stated that she started a foundation to help child survivors and her appearance on DWTS would help in fundraising efforts.

Occupation: Millionaire Philanderer... I mean philanthropist

Yeah, dropping out would seem to be the wrong thing to do since there will be ~20 million people listening to her on DWTS and I doubt she can draw anywhere near those numbers on her own.

My local PBS is doing the pledge drive thing and they ran this documentary a couple of days ago:

Steven Caras: See Them Dance

I'd highly recommend it, to anyone that has a chance to see it. Interesting life story and great dance photography.

Weekly BUMP (and so it begins...) - new season starts tonight! Note: no results show this week, that starts next week.

Also, apparently the show will be rerun on Tuesday. The episode of No Ordinary Family has been bumped to Saturday night (March 26) at 10:00 PM.
