looks like something happened after Ryan Lochte danced...either someone tried to attack him on stage or there were protesters who rushed the stage...they quickly cut to commercial and everyone looked a bit shook up when they returned

Two men stormed the stage of the Dancing with the Stars premiere Monday to protest Ryan Lochte’s participation on the ABC show...the men wore t-shirts that featured Lochte’s name crossed out...four women wearing the same shirt encouraged them from the audience just as judge Carrie Ann Inaba began to give her critique...Several security guards, meanwhile, stormed the stage and tackled the men — one of whom fell back into Lochte, Burke, and Bergeron while the cameras were rolling...

First of all, this thread is still active. I just chose not to do so many updates to it.

Second, WTF? What were those morons thinking? Were they up there to protest? Maybe beat the sh*t out of Ryan? Kidnap him to bring him back to Brazil to stand trial? Most controversy since Sabrina Bryan got eliminated too early (twice!).

Third, Jimmy Kimmel made his pick to win season 23. Who? Answer is .........

Laurie Hernandez. The gold medal winning gymnast. And based on what I saw of her first dance with Val, Jimmy made a good choice - she has a very realistic shot at winning.

Also, watch Terra Cole, the little person (no insult intended in any way). Her pro partner, Sasha Farber (no longer in the crab suit ) might be an excellent combo.

I almost missed this because I forgot that it was it was on and our local ABC station had the Rams-49ers game on. Fortunately, at 8 PM Pacific time, Comcast/ABC had the show ready On Demand. It was actually a pretty good opener. The best dancers were Laurie Hernandez and Marilu Henner as was expected. Derek and Val hit the jackpot with these two. The surprise was James Hinchcliffe the Indy Car driver. He was very good. Sharna has a lot to work with. Jana Kramer, the country singer was also good and sexy as all hell. Her dance with Gleb was the hottest Viennese Waltz ever seen. Ken "Babyface" Edmonds also looked good. This could turn out to be an excellent season. I was surprised that Tom didn't give props to Mark Ballas who is taking over as Frankie Valli as Jersey Boys finishes its Broadway run. This is not the usual stunt casting as actors who close out a show are usually hand picked by the producers. Good on you Mark.

Wow, just looked at my thread here. Guess this show's fallen off the AVS Forum radar - two months since anyone's said anything here.

Anyway, I did get Terra Cole right. Got all the way to the semi-finals before being eliminated.

Three of the final four for next week's two night finale are athletes: Calvin Johnson (football), James Hinchcliffe (Indy race car driver) and Laurie Hernandez (Olympics gymnast). Proving again athletes do well on this show.

With Laurie in the finals, Jimmy Kimmel still in the running for a prediction win.

By the way, anyone notice that, since Erin Andrews became co-host, all the off-ballroom stuff happening? Several proposals, a marriage (Kym Johnson) and a baby on the way (Peta Mergatroyd).

What gives? Is Erin giving off extra pheromones? I'd take some of that.

I'm still watching, and glad Terra got the boot. Don't get me wrong, she did a real decent job but her time had come, if she wasn't cut it would have had be a dancer quite a bit better than her. Not sure whats up with the judges giving her such high marks but I'm guessing they just didn't want to be the reason she was cut. I mean with the scores they gave her, she must have been really in last place AFA the voting public.
Laurie is great, what an athlete! I wouldn't mind at all if she took home the trophy.
James is by far the best male, I wouldn't be sad if he won either.
Calvin, IMO 4th of the remaining dancers but feel he may finish 3rd.
Jana, WOW! what can I say, hot! I really hope she gets 3rd but have a feeling Calvin may bump to last.....

It is surprising because this has turned out to be a very good season. The finalists range from very good (Calvin) to excellent (James, Jana and Laurie). Monday's show was outstanding and the trios were great. It will probably be Laurie for the win but I would happy if she, James or Jana won.

It took a while but Jimmy Kimmel (aka 'Nostra-dance-mus') finally got win #9. His pick for season 23, Laurie Hernandez, won the mirror ball trophy on DWTS.

You also realize that Val now has more mirror ball trophies (2) than his brother Maks (1).

Enjoyed this season. It turned out much better than I thought it would when the cast was announced. Now I have to catch up on Strictly before the annual Christmas episode.
