Yeah, that's the way I saw it too. Something else is going to have to tip him off about his sister's boyfriend. And I fully expect to see Dexter's girlfriend's ex taped up on the table very soon; he's going to get what's coming to him.

He doesn't feel the pain of his victims.

It's been awhile since that episode aired, but I believe he mentioned in voice over that fear was new to him. He even had a nightmare. He felt out of control. Those were all new to him. This seems to have opened him up to the possibility to feel other emotions as well. If that's the case, he couldn't be a true "sociopath" because they are just "wired" differently, and can't be reformed.

The direction this is going seems to indicate a childhood incident that greatly influenced his lack-of emotional development. (Pure guesswork on my part, not having read the book/s.)

I saw it that way too. Dexter put the house up for sale, so he'll probably have to go back to it at some point. Then, he will find out that the old lady was murdered. That will be the final clue that he needs to know that the sister's boyfriend is the ITK.

WOW! Awesome episode tonight! Guess we pretty well know what situation his foster dad took him out of now. I'm still guessing Dexter and the ITK are brothers. There's just no way the ITK can know so much about Dexter without being family. And the way he hugged him when they first met....yadda yadda yadda.

Speaking of loveable characters, the lieutenant and Sergeant Doakes, prickly and complex though they are, are far more appealing in the series than they were in the books. That's faint praise, I know, but there it is.

I love Sgt. Doakes.....he's hilarious.

Yes. Outstanding!

The humor was great, and the way Dex took care of the boyfriend was unexpected, but fantastic, to me at least.

I'll miss this when it's over.

I'll miss it also. Do you think there will be or could be a second season? (I haven't read the book or books the series is based on.)

The second season is already booked. I'm hoping they find the material for a third season.

The look on Dexter's face when he realized he had acted out of emotional impulse (when he hit paul with the pan) was priceless! "WTF!" lol

I'm recording it again tonight so I can watch it in high def....can't wait.

And yes this one had excellent humor in it, esp the interaction between Dexter and Doakes.

I think I am going to have to go out and buy the books once this season is over so I can get more of Dexter!

Good call...they make for good reading and they are relatively brief so you'll burn through both books quick.

Been a fan since Ep3. Still haven't seen the first 2 ep. They re-run it Saturdays but I'm always working (No tivo or PVR). I watch the clock every Sunday so I can watch Dexter. Can't wait till the DVD is out. And since the series is in HD, possibly a Blu-ray or HD DVD set as well.

BTW, does anyone else find the opening credits very disturbing? I can't stand extreme closeups of meat and people.

No animals were harmed in the creation of this sentence.

Eight....I can send you EP 1 and 2 on a CD if you want. I am in St. Catharines. Or if you have instant messenger we can set up a file transfer.

I fast forward through the opening credits, but love the smirk on Dexters face as he locks his door and walks down the walkway.

Jeez I cant believe nobodies talking about that final scene, that was probably one of the most emotionally disturbing scenes I ever seen, especially when you get into the characters, and I am usually unphased by gore.

Yeah, it takes alot to get to me as well. However, young Dexter screaming sent chills down my spine. And then that final scene (when it became clear how his mother was killed) was .

Indeed! A lot in this episode made my blood run cold. The last scene was very scary and disturbing but the earlier scenes in which the ITK considered murdering Angel with a chisel and the one set in the parking garage where he actually stabbed Angel made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. This episode was really dark and creepy, although it was often funny, too. What a great series! If anything, it is even better that the books.

I loved The way in which Dexter made a mess for himself by clocking the ex-husband with a skillet but then cleverly recovered. That was inspired stuff, which was not dealt with in the books.

OK but how about how he fell in the blood at the beginning of the show. Thats gonna be a classic Dexter moment for me. Well done!

Has anyone else noticed how much the young dexter driving in the car with his bio father looks like Rita's son Cody?

And how much Dexters bio mom looks like Rita?

Where was the social worker when Dex dragged out the ex-husband?
Last I saw she was tucking the kids in. Don't you think she would have been a little interested in finding out what happened to him? They did not even show her again.

'Truth Be Told' was a good episode.
Lt. Maria LaGuerta got pissed off aswell. The previews for next weeks season finale were wild. Sgt. Doakes and Dexter might get into it.

I have a crush on Julie Benz

Great episode tonight, next week looks pretty intense too. Julie Benz is nice, she was great in Angel and Buffy too, Conner's mom.

Yeah, that sums it up pretty well. I hope that they fill in the details. From the previews, I think I saw where the ITK told Dexter's sister that "this has been in the works for a long time" or something close to that. So, does that mean that all of the killings were for Dexter's "benefit?"

Something that has been nagging at me for the last week or so: Who killed Dexter's mother? He said tonight that it was a drug dealer, but is that the whole story? Could be, but could it have been Dexter's bio-dad? We know that he did time in prison, but I don't think they said why. That could explain why Harry took Dexter and adopted him rather than giving him to his father. I'm probably way off base, but I'd be interested to hear if anybody knows the answers.
