Yeah, sad isn't it? I've already posted my [annual] disgust in the HOTP thread. There are three nominations in that list that can't carry BSG's colonial-issue lunch box. The Emmy's are more and more irrelevant if they can't get even that much right.

The somewhat recent exposure this show was given on CBS drew me into this excellent series, now I am considering the DVD presentation. Can someone provide which season was just aired on CBS -- was that the first season? [It featured the ICE TRUCK KILLER as sub theme throughout]
Thanks!

EXCELLENT! And since I watched that throughout, that means the groundwork is all laid for an entire season of entertainment with the upcoming release of Season 2 in August -- SWEET!

Or you could subscribe to Showtime and watch Season 2 of "Dexter" either Sundays at 9PM starting this Sunday, or the entire season On Demand.

The panel will take place Thursday July 24, 2008 -5:45-6:45 Room 6CDEF. (Official Comic-Con site: http://www.comic-con.org/cci )

Julie Benz will be also making an appearance before the panel at the Entertainment Earth booth on the convention floor right before the panel (3-5pm July 24 ). So, if you are going to be there plan to stop by and say Hi'!

Can't make it in person? Post your questions for the actors and producers on the DEXTER Facebook page discussion board and they may get asked during the panel.

Please be sure to include your name and the city where you are from and who the question is for.

^^^ Thanks for the info. Other than Season 2's 'The Dark Avenger' episode and the web comics of the same name I don't know why "Dexter" would be promoted at a comic book convention though. Superhero movies and sci-fi TV shows yes, but "Dexter"? Its a crime procedural/drama/thriller, not a superhero show.

First it was just sci-fi/fantasy tv and movies that got promoted at comic con now its everything. Comic con has become totally mainstreamed.

Dexter has far more in common with a superhero theme show than the typical crime drama.

^^^ Who gives a s***? "Dexter" and Michael C. Hall are nominated, that's what counts (although if Julie Benz had been added to the female all-stars that would have made it better).

O/T, but: do they just go through the list and pick the most recognizable names or what?

O/T 2: I see they continue to ignore the wire. Maybe it wasn't its best season, but they could've dropped house or BL to acknowledge one of the best TV shows ever.

That is precisely what they do. It's why the same actors keep getting nominated and winning year after year after year. Wasn't there a best supporting actress nominee last year or the year before, someone primarily known for making movies, who only had about 15 minutes of screen time? To their credit, some of them just get embarrassed after awhile, and opt out. But that's the problem when the majority of the voters for TV's best shows and performances don't actually watch much TV.

Yeah, it may have been only 15 seconds, actually. But it blatantly exposed what a farce the Emmy's have become for everyone to see.

Strangely, not opening credits or musical theme. Disappointing to me.

Barring an actor's strike shutting production of the show prematurely all we know is 'Fall.' In the next two days the Showtime executives meet with the press at the TCA critic's meeting in CA. They might announce an official date then, or not!

They have been saying October or November on the Sunday night showings on Showtime.

I am hooked on this program now.

Showtime's promos tonight revealed the premiere date for "Dexter's" next season: September 28th.

Minor spoilers for Season 3 of "Dexter" in this "Hot of the Press" thread posting. Viewer discretion is advised!

Summer Comic-Con Notes
Showtime shows 'Dexter' preview
By James Hibberd, The Hollywood Reporter, in the THR LiveFeed blog, July 24, 2008

Comic-Con -- Showtime screened a first-look trailer of the upcoming third season of "Dexter" to a rapturous reception at Comic-Con. The clips suggest Dexter impulsively kills somebody who did not deserve it, violating the code of conduct laid down by his father. Complications ensue.

The issue of Dexter continuing to evolve away from his father’s rules, and gaining bona fide emotions, prompts a question of how long the show can continue while maintaining its current course.

“We talk about how long can we keep doing this, how long should we keep doing this and show long will Dexter keep learning about himself,” said executive producer Clyde Phillips. “If he completely becomes fully human and starts feeling guilty or remorse, then the show’s over. How do we not get there and continue to evolve?”

One fan suggested given Showtime’s corporate parent, the show’s location and the fact that Dexter works as a blood-spatter analyst, that Dexter should do a guest stint on “CSI Miami.”

“Be great if I got called in on a ‘CSI’ episode and all I did was help them solve a crime,” "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall says.

I got turned on to Dexter via CBS. Liked it so much, I bought the S1 DVDs to see it again uncensored. I was hooked. Recently ordered the full Comcast package and just finished S2 in HD On Demand. Wow...this show is a masterpiece. Lila...uummmmm... The acting is so spot on with the main characters...love them all. Took a look over on the main Dexter forum and it seems that the actress and the character of Lila is predominately hated. I don't know why. Not only is she exotically beautiful, Jaime Murray did a fully nuanced role of a fascinating "vampish", needy, manipulative, vindictive and yet sympathetic "love" interest that really twisted the knife. I can't wait til 9/28 for another dash of Dexter.

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.
