I'd like to thank the Golf Channel for showing the nightly replay in HD as well. I was able to catch some of the 9-12 airing of the first round last night and found it very good.

Notice at hdsportsguide.com that The Golf Channel, starting next week, is no longer listed for weekday true-1080i coverage as it was/is for yesterday and today, only NBC/CBS weekend listings appear. Didn't see anything about more weekday 1080i at TGC site either. Ken's initial post mentions early round HD coverage, though, and a few other published reports mention simulcast weekday HD from TGC. -- John

All the Golf Channel coverage that is from the same site as the NBC/CBS coverage will be in HD.

Well, it's Friday, 1.26.07, and Versus/TGC is broadcasting in very high quality HD whoohoo! I was about to return the KDS-55A2000 for the 50" which looked a bit sharper when I was pleasantly surprised to see HD golf looking amazing now on this channel. Whoohoo!

I just sent an email to D*. The cable option here is Charter so basically no golf channel in HD for me. Will have to wait for weekend play on CBS OTA. Small markets suck.

It was already anounced that D* has commited to carry the channel this year. They just need to get another bird in the air first.

Has anyone heard when Comcast in South Jersey will be adding VS/Golf HD? I sent an email asking and they sent me a "form" letter saying it is a difficult negotiation process to add channels, etc.. The responder didn't even know that Comcast owns the Golf Channel!

the picture looks stunning here in the bay area on comcast. as was noted earlier, every shot including all hand-helds and blimp camera's are HD. the cbs production is outstanding.

i'm going to pebble but it definitely will be DVR'ed.

I am not a golfer and other than watching Tiger not much of a PGA guy. But, I love HD golf. The game makes more sense when you can see the contours of the course.

I see the weekend cov of the Buick is via local channel CBS HD, which never looks that good to me. Can I expect the same super PQ on CBS' HD as with Versus yesterday? God I hope so!

You have not seen the Masters on CBS or there is something wrong with your signal.

Everything I have heard is that it's all the same equipment, so the picture quality should be as good as you were seeing, or better, since the OTA signals are often better than what the secondary providers put out.

I'm watching the FBR Open @ Scotsdale.
Very disappointing to see it isn't all-HD.
Back to mixed cameras. Boo....hiss!
Judging from the announcers, this is NBC's coverage.
Proving, once again, that they are farther down the food chain than CBS.
I sure hope they spring for the new cameras...and soon!

Two would seem to be two too many to me too.
Sarcasm is the sincerest form of flattery.
I bid you a fondue.

Yes, this is a NBC production and I had a bad feeling that NBC wouldn't go full HD like CBS. They have always used a large amount of truck mounted wireless cameras and they obviously have not upgraded to the wireless HD technology like CBS did. With NBC you can assume only that the tower cameras will be wired HD.

I just picked up the channel today, currently on channel 207, the guide lists it as VS. it is currently in SD only and i have yet to see 1080i. Is it supposed to list it as VSGLF? And do they always leave it at 480i when they're not showing HD material?

Versus is what it is.... C R A P! NHL will die a slow death in the USA. Other sports leagues will overtake their 4th place (if they haven't already done so in TV ratings).

1. NFL
2. NASCAR
3. NBA?
4. MLB?
5. Arena Football?
6. MLS?

...
...
...
somewhere here the NHL TV ratings

(I didn't incl. Tennis, Golf and other tournament sports and College Sports)

My Solution:

NHL needs to dumb/buyback the Versus rights and sell them to ESPN.

nuff said for now.

the versus/golf channel was added TODAY in the NH market (at least in Concord), if anyone is curious. not sure what other surrounding areas it affects.

Comcast in Boston has added it as well on channel 848.
Not my cup-of-tea, but the more HD channels we get, the better I suppose.
Now if Comcast would just add the HDNet's I'd be quite satisfied.
For now.

I have not eard or seen any reports of another provider having this channel yet. D* has an agreement to carry it, but I would guess not until the first new bird is in the air this summer.

It's time to give props to WLNS for the HD crawl generator!!!

Now we need WHTV to go HD and Lansing's CW to get a separate transmitter so it isn't a digital sub.

Watching the Hilton Head Tourney, fantastic great picture but awful data loss. On average, about once a minute it freezes and then heavily pixellates for several seconds. This was recorded on the DVR. Anyone else seeing this?

I haven't narrowed it down to live vs.. DVR, HD vs SD, 1 channel only or others, but over the last two days it has been consistent.
