I don't like the setup when they use the L bar graphics.
That bottom 5 Day Forecast bar is so big you lose 25% of the video during live and taped reports. Plus TWC ads the L3's on top of the Forecast bar making the video window even smaller.
They need to stick with the 16:9 setup they use in the am and during breaking weather coverage with the small bar at the bottom of the screen.

Dcowboy7, do you have FiOS? I do and notice the same problem with TWC HD.
The programming audio is low while the ads and local forecast music are louder.

I also have that audio problem on my area's comcast system.

About the LDL thing i caught an error showing what seems to be the new LDL that will maybe take place of the L-Bar in the future. i thinks it's like 30% in size (the new one) picture attached.

That new HD weather bar looks similar to the current giant local bar that is used on the SD feed when the HD feed has the L bar on screen.

I just read on another site that Bill Keneely was let go earlier this month. He had been with the channel since March, 1982 (two months before the launch). His bio is still up on weather.com, but the website that reported it, confirmed from inside sources that he was no longer with the network.

In case anyone is a fan of Bill's work, he has a facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/twcbillkeneely

The Weather Channel also has hired Steve MacLaughlin, Crystal Egger and Eric Fisher.

I believe many of these old timers don't like the direction the channel has been going in and has probably put them at odds with management.

I was also worried about Jeff Morrow's status with the station, but he said on his Facebook page that he has been working on a project in Pittsburgh for the last six months and should be back soon.

They never get the weekly planner finished.

Theyll get thru days 1 thru 7 precip but then when they start back at day 1 for the temps they only get thru maybe 2 days tops & it happens alot really almost everytime.

Very sloppy.

& whats with Cantore in the seperate room sometimes with that smaller tv monitor.

They show graphics on it but its so small you can barely see it.

Seems stupid especially since they have those 2 big screens in the main room.

Dumb.

Yes but we humans are wierd.

Like we can buy a 2 liter bottle of coke for $0.99 on sale at shop-rite but yet they pay $2.50 for a glass in a restaurant....why ?

Go figure.

The new weather.com launched today. It's currently in Beta, until the station feels that all major bugs have been worked out. The site launched March 31, 1995, long before I was online.

The HD weather sidebar on the left of the screen is back.

The morning & evening shows had gone full 16x9 but its back to 4x3 & the other shows even have the bar on the bottom too.

Comcast here in ATL has better more dedicated "weather info" channels than The Weather Channel, IMHO.....constant radar, etc....they use weather channel info and it's on ALL the time.

Now the 16x9 screen is back with just the forecasts bar on the bottom.

I wish they would just pick a format & go with it.

TWC added this Left Area to accommodate the 16% LDL here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rZF0co0IIw

And the Left Bar With 5 day info is for this LDL (Lower Display Line)

http://twctoday.com/Video/STARS/HDLocal/nlf2.php

There might be new changes when the Intellistar 2 is released in most areas.

But still no local on the 8's in HD in the ATL... when is it ever going to come to TWC's hometown??

I don't see any 'reasons' for the format changes, and I hate the left/lower bars. It's unnecessary clutter. Just give us a 16x9 pic and HD locals, please.

Someone from TWC said to look for the Intellistar 2 to come out towards the end of the year, but i would take that as a grain of salt.

and i agree they shouldn't need to show National Information in HD especially on a left bar just to ruin the 16:9 space.

TWC has now (since Monday) began using the 16% 16x9 Lower Display Line on all shows

Either both of these Left Display Areas were canned during every show or TWC is making a new Lower Display Line 33% for those former LDA/LDL shows.

I think TWC is trying to do a "Fox News" rotating logo kind of thing. I won't be surprised if this appears during all live shows in HD.

I guess you could call me a TWC Guru as well cuz im at the TWCToday forums as Gt1racer.

I noticed someone back in the thread was saying that TWC had Tornado Road in mono. That isnt the case but its how the SD simulcast is. They broadcast the channel in stereo and the Intellistar units can only handle mono sound

However HD has both channels
