Anyone know if The Tudors on Showtime this Sunday is in HD?

Some articles I read say it is Showtimes shot at having a huge hit like HBO's Rome. Its basically the life of Henry VIII. I hope its good. I need something to fill the gap of Rome/Deadwood.

If you subscribe to Netflix and use Windows you can watch episode I via the internet, but not in HD. I saw it a couple of days ago, very enjoyable but not another Rome.

Yes, it looks like it's in HD. Click here:

You can actually watch episode 1 and 2 right now if you have Showtime On Demand.

I watched episode one last night. It was pretty good. I won't get into the specifics because I know many haven't watched it yet. I will say this though...I saw not one, not two, but three naked women in the first episode.

For the ladies, there are some naked men as well.

Gotta hand it to Showtime. HBO used to make sure that the benefits of their pay cable status were realized on almost all their original series. Now Showtime is doing the same thing. Even Penn & Teller's B*llsh*t episode about Wal-Mart had tons of nudity.

I, too, have high hopes for the quality of this series. However, I don't think anyone would actually label Rome as a "huge hit" for HBO. The second season was wonderful, unfortunately, not a lot of people were watching!

I refuse to watch this. Showtime has been forcing ads for this program down our throats for months. Pop ups before during and after movies. I also saw some on TNT. I hope it fails!

Blockbuster online has/had the disc available of episodes 1 - 3 for rental so I thought I'd give it a try. Haven't watched it yet, but will take a look over the weekend and see if it's something to continue with.

I watched part of episode 1 in HD with Showtime On Demand last night. So far, so good! Beautiful sets.

Watching the Tudors is sort of like flipping through an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog from the 1500s

It's not half the quality of Rome, but is still entertaining.

... And yet the return of "Penn & Teller" flew completely under the radar, which reminds me, I need to see how many new eps I may have missed.

Quality of Rome? Does anyone remember the first season as you could tell they were short on money for quality of sets.....They improved dramatically with season 2 so lets see how Tudors compares to season 1.

Short of money? HBO/BBC invested $100 million to bring us the first season of Rome. In fact, if the sets weren't already paid for, we never would have got a second season out of them.

The first two episodes have been availible in HD On-Demand. Saw them both. Show is okay, but not sure if it's complelling enough for me to view each week. The presence of Sam Neill and Jeremy Northam are incentives, however.

Season 2 was indeed fantastic, but I'll go with Season 1 as my favorite. The plot lines were more intricately woven, and that made for a HUGE punch at the end.

One would think Showtime has much higher expectations than how Rome turned out, cancelled after only two seasons......

Season 1 had the benefit of much better pacing. By Season 2, they knew it was going to be their last season, and they had a limited number of episodes to wrap up everything.

I'll be giving the Tudors a generous sampling. Showtime has had some top notch series' lately (can I say HBO-quality? ) so I'll give it a chance to find its legs.

I also saw the first two episodes. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say it was very good either. The costumes and some of the sets are incredible, but the writing is clearly not up to the standards of Rome. Perhaps it will get better as the season progresses.

I have watched all three episodes... the show isn't bad, nor is it good. Most of the time I found the show to be very very boring.

I liked Rome much much better.

Plot synopsis: King gets to pork any women he wants. King gets to joust, hunt, etc. King gets to pork any women he wants. King gets to declare war on France. King gets to pork any women he wants.....

Ken, I was going to say "You nailed it." But in the context of this show, that could be misconstrued!

This show is the definition of "trying too hard".

I'll be back for another ep or two, but it needs to relax and get better, quickly!

Unlike most shows, I'm hoping this one accelerates the plot a bit. The in-castle drama is going to get old pretty quick (although the pause and slowmo moments will remain plentiful ).

One preview I saw said that they were going to cover 10 years of his life over 10 episodes, so I think it will move fast, but hard to tell how this will impact character development, etc.

10 Years He was King for 38 years I think we will only get 2 wives (or maybe 3).

This is a very badly named series. There are 3 other Tudore monarchs after Henry VIII including Elizabeth I who reigned until 1603 and we are only about 1521 !?!?!?! unless they are going to make Season 2 (1530-1540) and Season 3 (1540-1550) etc.

Yeah, they said they wanted to focus on just 10 years of his life, which they felt was the more important years or something like that. It wasn't clear if it was 1 year per episode or if it would go forward in time after awhile. Maybe someone that saw it already can weigh in on how the time thing works.

Oh and they said it was two of his wives.

I think the Tudors is good, but its no rome. The main charachter is known for divorcing his wife, and sex, while rome was all about the fighting.

This show has potential to be good, but its no rome.
