Did the same here. I know we're not supposed to talk down shows, but I was really surprised how bad CSI Miami was of the 3.

I know everybody jokes, including me, about the Caruso move. I didn't realize his...acting choices?...had gotten so odd (the voice, the body posture, etc). I enjoyed his character on NYPD Blue back in the day. This now seems more like a caricature of a caricature.

I think he thinks he's batman.

Why has Murdoch and Newscorp chosen to do nothing with Mynetwork? Besides airing WWE, reruns of old shows, and the occasional movie they have nothing. That makes no sense to me as I would assume there would be far more value in the network if it was some what competitive. Maybe they should re-brand it to something different or resurrect UPN.

But let's be honest, CSI Miami without Caruso wouldn't be worth remembering. The very things you think are odd are the elements that have given that show it's hook and fame. If he stopped playing up those affectations now it would probably spoil it for the viewers.

The alternative is that he starts acting seriously again and that means Michael Hayes. Anyone remember that?

That's nice to hear. I haven't watched his show much, but his radio show is very entertaining. I am a fan of Clark Howard too. I hope his show is tv show has decent ratings also.

The country would be much better financial condition than it is if more people paid attention to what these guys are saying.

It's remakes of stuff that was OK to begin with (like "V," "Charlie's Angels," "Love Boat," "Fantasy Island," etc.) done to fill a quota or fulfill a producer's contract that are doomed to failure. It's such an easy concept even a caveman can understand it.

Yes, one has to remember that either by design or by fate that CSI:Miami airs right after CBS's top of the charts comedies on Monday nights, it actually flows very well as the show is basically cartoonish in look/style and in the acting. The show has done some interesting things with the photography, probably the primary reason I watch when it's the only thing left in the DVR list, but honestly, without using any hallucinogens does any place on the planet look like their version of Miami?

Make no mistake, this show stopped being a serious drama a long time ago.

Cast:

BJ - Young female lead (thinking somebody from Gossip Girl)

The Bear - Zach Galifianakis

Plot: BJ and The Bear drive cross country in their Prius, bringing an eco-friendly message to the masses. Dogging their trail at every turn is Elroy P. Lobo (played by Kiefer Sutherland), a lobbyist for "Big Oil."

Airing Fall 2011 on Logo.

On the occasions I watch any CSI shows I sometimes have a hard time remembering which one I'm watching, but I always know when it's CSI Miami/LA.

It looks and sounds to me like no other cop show. Part of that is the amazing color saturation thing they have going on and the other is David Caruso's shades. For better or worse it certainly has developed it's own style. I mean how many other CSI shows get spoofed as much as Miami?

Just got caught up with Supernatural the other day and the parody the boys did of Caruso was hilarious, I was laughing out loud.

It should be noted that the Supernatural team have the parody, or tongue-in-cheek "fun" episode down to a science, they hit on all cylinders when they do them, simply outstanding, I always love watching those eps. What's really impressive is they can delve back down into some of the most serious and disturbing drama the next week without breaking stride and it all flows as naturally as water going downstream, incredibly talented team is the crew at Supernatural.

Hello??? Zach Galifianakis of course.

The show only ended up on Logo after negotiations with Lifetime fell through. Besides, Logo needs a ratings winner and this could be it!

Indeed, of the shows I've seen I don't disagree with any of the picks. There's several there I've never seen though, primarily the comedy stuff.

Zach's uncle, Nick Galifianakis is a former US Representative from the North Carolina 5th/4th Congressional District (5th was split in his term and he was moved to the 4th). He served in the US House as a Democrat from 1967-1973. Nick is a retired lawyer who practiced law and still lives in Durham.

The avclub list is interesting.

But to my mind, cable and network shows should never be judged in the same group.

They are entirely different animals, literally built to please different audiences.

To my mind, the Emmys should also recognize this and give out awards in both cable and network categories.

Interesting list.

Although I'd place a few shows in different positions (BSG, Dexter and Veronica Mars would all be ranked much higher), and some of my personal favs are missing (It's Always Sunny, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, South Park to name a few) I have to say, that's a "Best Of" list that's actually pretty damn good.

Except for Tim and Eric. By far one of the absolute worst shows I've ever seen.

TV Notes
Networks prep for Winter
Rookie performers making midseason decisions difficult

By Rick Kissell, Variety, November 13, 2009

As the November sweep nears its conclusion, webheads have turned their attention to midseason sked tweaks.

These decisions could be more difficult this year due to a high number of decent rookie performers and a glut of midseason shows waiting on the bench. This could be a good thing for viewers and the networks’ bottom-line averages, as it likely means fewer repeats the rest of the way.

The last couple of weeks saw a flurry of moves as the nets map out the first few months of 2010.

Among the changes, ABC axed Wednesday laffer “Hank” and chose not to order any more segs of struggling drama “Eastwick” while picking up five more episodes of Tuesday drama “The Forgotten.” Fox canceled Friday drama “Dollhouse,” and CBS ordered five more episodes of rookie comedy “Accidentally on Purpose”

Here’s a look at what could be in the works at midseason:

ABC

“Ugly Betty,” which is floundering on Fridays, would be a good choice for Wednesday at 10, replacing the struggling “Eastwick” and fitting in well behind the net’s comedy block.

“Lost” could shift to Tuesdays for its final season, perhaps leading into or out of “V,” which could be the net’s best shot at holding an aud opposite “American Idol,” which returns in January. ABC would be foolish, meanwhile, if it doesn’t devote more than one hour of air a week to “Lost,” perhaps making room for a discussion show after each episode.

Quirky drama “Happy Town” seems like a good fit on Sunday with “Desperate Housewives,” giving “Brothers & Sisters” a breather, while young-lawyers drama “The Deep End” could serve a similar role on Thursdays, behind “Grey’s Anatomy” and spelling “Private Practice.”

On the comedy front, new Alyssa Milano laffer “Romantically Challenged” could slide into “Hank’s” 8 p.m. slot on Wednesday, although it would face Fox’s “American Idol.” But the net does have to program something against the behemoth.

CBS

Vet comedy “Rules of Engagement” could slide into the Monday slot occupied by “Accidentally on Purpose,” while new hospital series “Miami Trauma” could go Sundays at 9 behind the adrenaline rush that is “Amazing Race.” “Flashpoint” would seem like a good c ap to Friday, taking over for the declining “Numbers.”

There’s not an obvious spot for reality newbie “Undercover Boss,” which generated good buzz at the net’s upfront last May, but it could slide in to “Survivor’s” Thursday timeslot for a few weeks.

NBC

Despite low ratings, don’t look for the net to abandon its Jay Leno experiment anytime this season.

Its best hope for success is dramedy “Parenthood,” which would make sense Sunday at 8, although limited-run reality show “The Marriage Ref” could also go there. Fridays are also a possibility for “Parenthood,” as the net may put it in the slot where another family hour, “Providence,” worked a decade ago.

“Chuck” likely will return to its old Monday 8 p.m. slot, leading into “Heroes,” and Wednesday could see “Mercy” stay put, as the net probably isn’t keen on putting in something new opposite “American Idol.”

Net has quietly made strides with its Thursday comedy block, where “Community” has gained traction at 8 p.m. and “The Office” is performing well at 9. Look for midseason comedy “100 Questions” to get a March tryout in the 8:30 p.m. “Parks & Rec” slot.

Fox

There aren’t many question marks here, especially with “American Idol” and “24” already locked in for their annual returns in January.

Priority will be giving dramas a shot Tuesday and Wednesday at 9. That rotation will include giving current hit “Glee” more exposure, while also shining the light on the new “Human Target” and “Past Life.”

Lightly watched Friday remains a tough nut to crack, with reality shows including perhaps the recently announced “Our Little Genius” the best bet to take over for the net’s anemic lineup of comedies and “Dollhouse.”

I now have N on my Time Warner non DVR HD box and it is sloooooooooooooow! Besides that the volume control does not work either on the remote or the cable box. It can be mute or at full volume, no way to adjust it. Hopefully when my DVR gets N it will work! I did go to live chat a few minutes ago and they are going to have a tech guy here between 8 - 10 in the morning so I got that going for me!

We shall see if he/she can fix it! Saturday is a day when we use both sets a lot. I love football and my wife does not so they both get a workout on Saturday and Sunday.

More Than Ever, You Can Say That on Television

LOS ANGELES On many nights this fall, it has been possible to tune in to broadcast network television during prime time and hear a character call someone else a douche.

In just the last several weeks, it has happened on CBS's The New Adventures of Old Christine and the CW's The Vampire Diaries, which are broadcast at 8 p.m., during what used to be known as the family hour. It has been heard this fall on Fox's new series The Cleveland Show, which begins at 8:30, and on ABC's Grey's Anatomy. On NBC, its use has spanned the old and the new, blurted out on the freshman comedy Community and the seasoned drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In total, the word has surfaced at least 76 times already this year on 26 prime-time network series, according to research by the Parents Television Council, which compiled the statistics at the request of The New York Times. That is up from 30 uses on 15 shows in all of 2007 and just six instances on four programs in 2005. ...

Besides Smackdown, nothing that aired on MNTV there ever got any ratings. The "network" should've never been created in the first place. It was only created because Murdock was mad that his stations weren't going to be part of the CW network.

Frankly, I am not so sure the CW should have been created, either.

Its programming might have done far better as a cable network, where narrow casting can actually work.
