This is good news. Has anyone heard if the Dr. Who spin-off, Torchwood, will be offered on a US network?

On a different note Fred, congrats on the 2nd thread. Even though I don't post too often, your efforts are very appreciated.

It's going to be on BBC America, but I don't recall when.

Fredfa, just out of curiousity, shouldn't the shows that are "Renewed for 2007-2008" be removed from the "Picked up for 2007" column? As the end of the season nears, it makes it an easier reference to see the shows on the fence... If this has been asked and answered, sorry, but its a lot of posts to search...

May not be too many here who remember, but when this thread first started it was pulled for about a week to straighten out, I believe, some copyright issues. For a short while there it was touch and go as to whether this thread was ever going to exist.

Any word if there will be an 'Amazing Race' (CBS) next season?

And what about Smallville and Supernatural (CW)... I hope they are returning, too.

"Medium" probably stands a better chance than "Crossing Jordan". But both are on the fence.

Medium seems to be a guarantee to return because of the big syndication deal the studio has in place with Lifetime ($1.35M/episode). The deal will only go through if the show hits a certain amount of episodes (100).

That's why there were rumors that if NBC canceled it, CBS would pick it up.

Congrats on the new thread, Fred!

Well, after reading what you posted from TV Guide, I figured Jordan may be a goner, but I am an eternal optimist. I even believe Veronica Mars will survive.

And let me also offer a thanks for all your work on this. It has become my primary source of reliable information.

NEW YORK - April 23, 2007 - SCI FI Channel and BBC Worldwide Americas today announced a major acquisition deal for the U.S. premiere of the third season of Doctor Who. The series will debut on SCI FI in July 2007, kicking off with the Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Runaway Bride, guest-starring award-winning comedy actress Catherine Tate.

Cool, the current season(season 3 or 29 depending on your take) on BBC will end in late June, so this is getting much closer to the real thing.

I've stopped watching any show at 10PM Mondays on principle since Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip went on hiatus.

No more votes, but thanks.

Since this is not a blog but a forum thread HOTP was disqualified.

But we had climbed up to 5th place -- so thank you all for voting!

It seems like just three or four years ago when NBC was the one network too quality to stoop to tons and tons of reality garbage.

God bless NBCU 2.0.

I thought NBC's plan was to put this sort of crap on in the 8-9 pm hr?

I still don't understand why the hell they don't put "Medium" back in it's original 10pm Monday slot....what other show on NBC could be more suited to follow "Heroes"?

Torchwood is an interesting series. Too bad we won't get to see it in HD here (unless you're naughty).

Any news on The Sarah Jane Adventures?

I think "Wedding Crashers" has the potential to move right to the head of the class and challenge programs like "Who's Your Daddy?" as the worst in recent memory.

All things considered I would really like Studio 60 back in that slot. After the Donnellys cancellation (which I thought was okay) it's just turning in to a dumping ground for cheap and lazy shows.

We've already had the "Whose Line ..." rip-off (which was 30 minutes to long and about 5 years too late) and now Punk'd/Candid Camera copying from hit movies. Without the benefit of the stars who actually stopped the film from being another bad teen comedy.

(I've edited a few items out of Maureen's report because they contain spoilers from the ABC May Sweep news release. If you want more info, go to her link, where she posts the entire release.)
Critic's Notebook
No More Men In Trees This Season
From Maureen Ryan's Chicago Tribune blog The Watcher April 23, 2007

It looks as though 'Men in Trees' is MIA for May

ABC released its May sweeps schedule Monday and Men in Trees is not on it, so it doesn't look as though the show, which has already been assured of a second season, is going to air its remaining first-season episodes any time soon. Though the official line from ABC is that no official decision has been made regarding when that final batch of first-season episodes will air, if Men in Trees wasn't mentioned in ABC's sweeps press release, odds are you won't see Men in Trees in May - and possibly not until fall. The awful "October Road" has its season finale April 26, there's a two-hour "Grey's Anatomy" on May 3 and the new series "Traveler" has a preview on May 10.

Sci Fi Channel has picked up the third season of Doctor Who, which stars David Tennant; it'll air in July. The season will kick off with The Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Runaway Bride.

BBC America has given a few more specifics about what will air when in its newly revamped schedule. The most relevant news is that Season 2 of the cult retro-drama Life on Mars won't air until October, and we'll have to wait until December for the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood.

At press time, Stephanie Colburtle, the turtle that Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report is sponsoring, was in first place in the eco-themed Great Turtle Race, which allows Web surfers to follow the progress of leatherback sea turtles migrating from Costa Rica to the Galapagos Islands. Stephanie's blistering pace is not Colbert's only reason to crow: His recent Meta-free-for-all with Sean Penn - in which the two men competed to come up with the most outrageous metaphor and which was moderated by poet Robert Pinsky - has to be one of the funniest things the show has ever done. And that's saying something. The video is here.

Some other highlights of ABC's sweeps schedule: Betty Suarez of Ugly Betty visits Mexico on May 10 and May 17 (the latter date is the show's season finale). Rita Morena will guest star as Betty's aunt, and in the season finale, explosive secrets will be revealed, and everything will be tied together by a beloved Broadway musical. As is so often the case.

Letterman welcomes Philbin back
CBS talkshow host will be first guest Thursday
By Stuart Levine Variety April 23, 2007

David Letterman and Regis Philbin will be having a heart-to-heart chat on Thursday.

After Philbin was the first guest to appear on CBS' "Late Show" after Letterman returned from heart bypass surgery in 2000, Letterman will return the favor when he appears on "Live With Regis and Kelly."

The Thursday broadcast will be Philbin's first after he underwent triple-bypass surgery six weeks ago. The 75-year-old co-host has been recuperating at home since.

Kelly Ripa called Letterman's appearance "very appropriate" when she announced it on the show Monday.

Good grief. I've been watching MiT from the beginning and I even I can't remember who or what happened in the last broadcast episode. If any latecomers to the party remember this show exists when it returns, I'll be amazed. Especially if they care enough to tune in after only seeing 6 or 7 Thursday episodes this year.

Torchwood will be starting in December, as noted by Maureen Ryan just above.
