I was really hoping that they get this resolved.

So was I but when they didn't respond to my email about this a couple weeks ago I figured it just wasn't going to happen.

I just finished watching the remainder of this on DVD last night. Thanks Blockbuster on line. It was interesting how they ended it but still sad to see it go.

It's been a few months since anybody touched this, so I'm going to refresh by asking:

Was the situation ever resolved? They (HDnet) show all of seasons 1 thru 3, but getting to the end of season 4 (final season), HDnet pulled the plug and we never got to see the last 10 or so episodes.

I think the lack of any recent news would be a clue. The real question is now that Sciffy has apparently locked up all the rights, why the hell are they not using the HD masters.

Do we know they actually have HD masters in their possession?
I'd love to see Enterprise in HD....

I know sometimes the HD rights are separate from the SD rights, so I guess it's possible that HDNet could have retained the HD rights. For example, the HD rights to 'Torchwood', which HDNet had, have been reassigned to BBC America, who evidently has an HD channel. (Who knew?) But that's why we won't be seeing any more 'Torchwood' in HD unless our provider carries that channel. Considering I have TWC, that's makes it bloody well unlikely for me.

But by HDNet flushing 'Enterprise' with no warning, my guess is that the HD rights, as well as the SD rights, all passed to Skiffy.

HDNet is great about posting their schedules on this Forum, but unfortunately they never seem to answer any questions like these. So, all we can do is speculate...

The BBC America HD channel has not launched yet. There were reports that it was supposed to start up in late 2008, but that has not happened. If BBC America HD starts up early next year, then the HD channel should be in place for the five Torchwood season 3 episodes, but it might not be on many service providers.

As for Enterprise, HDNet stopped airing it just as we were getting to some of the better 4th season episodes. If only they had stopped it just before the awful series finale episode, so people could pretend that it didn't exist. After this many months, I expect the odds of HDNet resuming the airing of Enterprise is very small. If HDNet still has some tangled exclusive legal rights to Enterprise in HD, maybe Mark Cuban should offer Sci-Fi the HD rights in return for a discount on airing on some single season Sci-Fi series such as the Dresden Files.

PS - Maybe HDNet could get the rights for Charlie Jade which was shot in HD, but aired in upconverted SD on Sci-Fi, mostly in the DVR only 3 AM time slot?

That would be so frakkin' awesome! 'Charlie Jade' is a perfect example of the kind of adult, sophisticated, high-production value sci-fi show we all say we want but never support when we get it. Sci-Fi Network never gave it a chance before exiling it to nowheresville. I have the British DVD set (R-2, stereo, PAL), and the Australian set (non-region, DD5.1, PAL, I think) is coming soon. But the chance to see 'Charlie Jade' in HD would be a real treat. It's a perfect fit for HDNet and they could probably get the rights for a song now that Skiffy is done with it (and they don't really have to worry about too many folks having seen it already ). I know the producers are looking for investors to scare up enough cash to get a second season done, so they're undoubtedly willing to make a deal. Those few of us who were fortunate enough to have seen the first 20-episode season are all hoping they somehow succeed.

They're airing 2 eps a day. Will they do this until they're done with season 4? They'll fill up DVR's pretty fast that that rate.

I know there were nine episodes remaining, but does anyone remember where those were. I've seen all the ones upcoming, but am not sure when I should start paying attention again.

Also, I'd love to see them rerun Torchwood as I didn't understand what the show was until it was almost over. I see that they've also picked up the rights to Jag, which some friends of mine will appreciate.

That sounds about right. If it is, that would mean "United" was the last episode aired on HDNet and "The Aenar" is the one we were waiting on that never got aired when things just stopped.

I'm just counting backwards from the bottom of this page. My memory is not the best, but I'm thinking the last episode I saw was about the Andorians.

And yes, this will fill up a DVR fast. Ridiculous. I guess "Be careful what you wish for" is an accurate saying.

Peace,

DM

This is good news! It looks like the 1/19 2:00pm episode "The Aenar" will pick up where it left off. Then 1:00 & 2:00 each day through sat 1/24 2:00 for the finale. My DVR is gonna fill up, with this and others shows starting back up (24, lost, bsg, smallville, supernatural). I'm not complaining.

Good deal.

Although this series was largely panned by critics it's actually my favorite. Mostly because it's the only HD ST series complimented by great effects as well as a good cast. It's the show I watched the most on HDNet and I'll watch it over & over.

I avoided it on SF especially when they were showing the eps that were coming soon to HDNet.

I didn't think the series finale was bad on a dramatic or writing level but it was just too negative of a way to end it.
