Here on RCN we've had all of season 2 on-demand in HD for about a month, but no sign of the season 3 premiere or the bonus content that was mentioned at the end of the original broadcast of episode 301.

Other than that it was great. I love how slow the show goes. I love how they recall trivial details like people forgetting about their pens before getting on a plane and finding they leaked.

I don't expect "the flawed protagonist to become a better person". My dad never did.

Yes, if the show wasn't so good, I wouldn't bother watching the crappy over-compressed HD on Comcast. Don't know if it's all Comcast's fault or not.

Anyway, excellent episode to open the new season! Sal's little escapade with the bellhop, the 2 "Head of Accounts", a little more insight to Don's beginnings, and Joan's setup of the male "secretary".

I've seen a lot of complaints about over-compression on Comcast, but this is the very first time I've seen any significant degradation since they cleaned up the original set of problems with the tri-muxed channels were resolved. It's not horrible, but it is noticeable.

Everything on AMC-HD is bit starved for me. Noticeable stuttering and sometimes macroblocking. I don't watch the channel except for Mad Men.

Though it's probably still better than the overcompressed soft SD the rest of us have to make do with.

I'll have to look at the SD channel sometime. I'm surprised that some look quite good. Although one does have to wait a bit, but the BDs do look excellent.

The BDs by far are the best way to watch this show; pity that Lionsgate takes most of a year to release them.

Same here, the show looks worse then the SD DVD, and the BD was in another universe all together.

I'm glad you guys are talking about this -- there's something very odd about AMC-HD. It's easily the worst HD channel in my lineup as well. Mad Men probably looks the best of any programming on the channel for me, but even MM shows weird artifacts. I swear I've seen something like pre-echo where there will be noise or slight macroblocking around objects that are *about* to move on the screen.

Other channels like TBS-HD, TNT-HD, Cinemax HD look fantastic, I only see issues on very complex/fast motion scenes.

I'll guess it's on AMC's end. AMC is owned by a subsidiary of Cablevision, which is infamous for being cheap.

I believe that. I haven't seen the SD DVD of Mad Men, but I'm catching up on Breaking Bad and the Season 2 episode I watched from AMC-HD was worse than the SD DVD I just watched of Season 1 (of Breaking Bad).

Right now, Christina Hendricks has to be the most voluptuous, hottest woman on TV.

In Detroit, we have the linear AMC HD, and Mad Men On Demand in HD. Last night's episode is already available.

I haven't seen her on other shows, but I've been wondering if perhaps that is a bit 'enhanced' for the show to give her the Marilyn look. Today's actresses just don't get that large unless they fire their personal trainers!

No, she's completely 100% natural.

Due to obvious reasons, the subject has come up on a regular basis. Her replies have been consistent, and no creditable rumors exist.

She guest-starred on two episodes of 'Firefly', and featured in several episodes of NBC's 'Life'. If she's enhanced, she was just as enhanced in those shows.

Here in Atlanta, the AMC HD feed of Mad Men is just awful. Shot changes that would typically tax a compression algorithm show severe macro blocking, and static scenes are not crisp. No other HD channel exhibits this phenomenon. The On Demand feed is better on the macro blocking, but far from perfect. My money is on AMC being the culprit, not Comcast.

While her top might not be enhanced, her posterior is definitely padded. Peggy is the real hottie, in my opinion.

I'm coming from left field... Christa Flannigan from MADtv, who plays the switchboard operator and Don's short-lived secretary. there's just something about a woman who can play comedy.

Former USSB uplink operator.

No contest. Grace Kelly reborn.
As for Hendricks, she looked nowhere near as voluptuous in Firefly, as a matter of fact, I had a hard time to believe it was the same actress.

Christina Hendricks' ample bottom half was as concealed by her outfits and camera angles in those two episodes of 'Firefly' as much as her ample top half was showcased. Tricks of the cinematographic trade. But she may have indeed added a few pounds since then; hard to tell for sure, actually.

But it's hard to argue she's a tour-de-force in this show as she deals with all the demands and societal expectations of a "career woman" in an age where women were just starting to break out of the boxes of wife & motherhood where they had been stashed for most of recorded history. She effectively sells every scene in which she appears, and never seems out of her depth. While that's true of nearly everyone on this nearly perfectly cast show, Hendricks' performance seems to carry a supreme authenticity. You can't take your eyes off of her, and that has little to do with her...ah... impressive superstructure (which is, BTW, 100% natural as has been noted).
