Those 2 situations are unrelated. Betty and Don still share children so she is still in the picture. Plus, how many scenes has she been in this year?

Regarding Peggy, just about anyone else who has left SCDP has left the show for all practical purposes.

Ken would be an obvious employee for her to poach. He's not going anywhere at SCDP as long as Pete's a partner.

Sure, but we'v only seen one side of the competition. We haven't watched the competing advertising agencies putting together their pitches, or thinking of strategies to thwart Don & Co. If they start doing that on a regular basis to follow Peggy, they'll have to drop some other story lines if they want to give the stories any depth. That's just a fact. There's only so many pages in a script, and so many minutes in the time slot.

I believe that Peggy's leaving of SCDP will be handled like when Joan and Kenny left.

They will find a way to slowly and naturally weave her back into the plot.

Honestly, I would enjoy less Betty, Megan and circumstantially -Peggy; and more Joan.

The new guys could get more attention..that would be interesting.

What about the Jewish guy? There's no love lost between Don and him. But then again Peggy's not too keen on him either.

Count me in. I was thinking "Oh, no.....oh, no....."

On the subject of Joan....Shouldn't she have been a partner (or equivalent) before now? She was indispensable when SCDP did it's "panic weekend" founding. Multiple persons at the firm noticed the lag when she was gone. Maybe a silent partner, but she deserved some kind of stake in the (then) new company. It's lousy that she had to do what she did (and it seems that she didn't "have to" after all), but it got the job done. In some ways she was more integral to SCDP than Peggy, even if she wasn't "creative".

Agreed. Despite the firm's reprehensible conduct leading up to Joan's promotion to partner, they couldn't have done anything smarter. Joan has more managerial ability than everybody else there put together, it seems to me.

I was thinking from his perspective. That he would be ready to jump if Peggy made him an offer.

After he just made the Jaguar campaign? He's got some chips to cash in. As Don noticed when Joan brought in the one-sheets, he's all over all of their campaigns. SCDP cannot afford to lose him, especially with Peggy gone.

I agree that SCDP can ill afford to lose Michael Ginsberg. Even with Don back on his game, more or less, Ginsberg is the best creative talent the firm has, by far. Having him follow Peggy out the door would be a serious blow.

I don't think Peggy and Don hate Ginsberg --- they just find him so different than what they are used to. They are unsure of what to think or feel about him. The both seem to think he is talented.

Sorry, that was mostly tongue-in-cheek.

Yes, I aggree with you, Joan deserved it for what she did for the company, but it was very rare for it to happen at that time. Women's contributions were often mostly ignored.

Pete, wow... he is a piece of work. Right behind Don. lol

What was up with the second time where Don's at Joan's place? Or was that like a rewind of Joan's point of view?

It was a flashback to illustrate Joan had already been with the Jag guy, even though she didn't let Don know that.

Now that I think about it, it didn't make a lot of sense for her to hide it. As a full partner, Don was going to find out anyway. Maybe she wanted his sympathy.

Was not the Jaguar guy but the head of the Car Dealerships, who would not put any Jag for sale if Joan said no...

Sure it made sense. Joan was being gracious to Don, and it had nothing to do with sympathy. Had she told him at that time, she would have been denying him his moment to take the moral high ground and display how her virtue was more important to him than landing the big account. She allowed him that out of close friendship and respect, and because she recognized it as Don's genuine display of chivalry and honor. Of course she knew he would find out later, but that doesn't mean she has to spoil the moment for him.

It's a subtle, but important bit of graciousness.
