THANK YOU! I'm glad I'm not the only one who was thinking that was a distinct possibility.

Dexter's numbers are down a little but Californications are up.
Actually these numbers beat the premiere of Californication this year which
was 821,000. It always a good sign when episodes in the middle of a season
actually beat the season premiere.

Californication (10pm, 28 minutes)
- 0.828 million viewers
- 0.5/1 HH
- 0.4/1 A18-49

This last episode was a classic....really funny.

I can't help thinking that Season 3 is going to end with Hank's promiscuous world crashing down on him with some serious consequences. Is the parallel to David Duchovny's real life is more than a coincidence?

As other posters have noted earlier, this week's episode was GREAT, one of the best if not the best of the series. I kept laughing louder and louder as more and more people came into Hank's apartment. That was inspired, albeit incredibly raunchy, stuff! Californication is not for the faint of heart.

That was a publicity stunt. Come on he's doing a show playing a sex addict and then he is one in real life?

Yes and he's STILL married to Tea. If he had gotten a divorce I might have brought it.

Normally when you do rehab, you're told stay away from the source of temptation. Seems like this show would be too much of a reminder.

Or so I hear

Funny part is Runkle had VD and now so does his boss and I bet Rick Springfield and a couple young chics. And as for Hank? What a hypocrite scumbag. He wants back with his wife yet he bangs everything that moves? Becca if she wants to stay in LA or wherever needs to spill the beans to Moms and break them up.

I remember Karen, talking to Hank on Skype from New York a few episodes back, telling him that she'd been screwing around. At any rate, Karen -- based on past events -- could not possibly be surprised, shocked, or even angry to hear that Hank had banged more than one chick while she was gone.

If you dislike Hank's (and Charlie's) behavior so much, might I suggest: Stop watching.

I tend to agree since it's the basic premise of the show.

No, he never cheated on Tea. They said his problem was a porn addiction. They are back together and he seems very happy. He also made mention that doing those scenes in Cali are far from sexy.

Always wondered can you get addicted to porn? Guess you can for some.

Heavy episode last night. Marcy went with Runkle? He put his coat on her and escorted her out. Maybe because what Rick was doing at the time (Picking up whitegirl) was pitiful?
I thought, in Marcy's eyes, Rick > Runkle.

She was living out a teenage fantasy. But looking at Rick talk down to Charlie and see him groveling over the spilled coke brought her to reality. Before she left she said, "It's like looking at a figure skater fall".

My daily thoughts on a number of television shows (spoilers included) along
with detailed awards coverage and predictions.

I'll be out of town for the week of Thanksgiving, but check back daily for
Golden Globe predictions in my absence. I'll be catching up on TV two
episodes at a time starting in December, and regular reviews will resume
then.

Tuesday, November 24, 2009
Golden Globe Musings: Best Actor in a TV Series - Comedy/Musical
Golden Globe nominations for this year will be announced in just a few
weeks, so here's a survey of the contenders and the most likely predictions
at this time. Weigh in with your thoughts, and let me know if I've left off
anyone important. A reminder that last year's nominees mean zilch at the
Globes and that the race is almost entirely unpredictable.

Last year's nominees:
ALEC BALDWIN, 30 ROCK
STEVE CARRELL, THE OFFICE
KEVIN CONNOLLY, ENTOURAGE
DAVID DUCHOVNY, CALIFORNICATION
TONY SHALHOUB, MONK

Ineligible last year:
LARRY DAVID, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM

New contenders:
THOMAS JANE, HUNG
JOEL MCHALE, COMMUNITY
MATTHEW MORRISON, GLEE

Potential first-time nominees:
JEMAINE CLEMENT, FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS
ZACHARY LEVI, CHUCK
JIM PARSONS, THE BIG BANG THEORY

This category shouldn't be transformed too radically. Baldwin, Carrell, and
to a lesser extent Duchovny should be safe. Shalhoub missed out on a
nomination twice in the history of his show, and this is his last chance to
be honored, so he could easily be kept in or dropped. Parsons probably has
the edge over Clement to break into the pack because his show is still
actively going, and none of the new talent are strong enough to make a dent.

Predicted nominees:
ALEC BALDWIN, 30 ROCK
STEVE CARRELL, THE OFFICE
DAVID DUCHOVNY, CALIFORNICATION
JIM PARSONS, THE BIG BANG THEORY
TONY SHALHOUB, MONK

Music Review: Season 3 Music From the Showtime Series Californication

As lead David Duchovny - along with the rest of the cast - settles into a fourth season of the popular Showtime series Californication, Lakeshore Records and Showtime have teamed up to release a selection of soundtrack pieces from the highly viewed third season. And why not? The show has featured music from well-knowns like Rob Zombie and Widespread Panic, cult favorites like G.G. Allin and Jimmy LaFave, and up-and-comers like Black Joe Lewis. This collection of 13 tracks is every bit the soundtrack album that listeners would expect from a show with such eclectic tastes.
And these album producers aren't messing around, opening strongly and assuredly with Rob Zombie's expressive (I guess that's a good word here) track Pussy Liquor. Followed immediately by Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears on the jazzy track Bitch, I Love You, fans of the show will already be feeling the vibe of the show pouring out of their speakers. It's unfortunate that the half-assed cover of Warren Zevon's Werewolves Of London by the otherwise stalwart Widespread Panic is such a disappointment, especially when compared with Danielle Duval's eerily sensual You're The One That I Want and Jimmy LaFave's tender rendition of Bob Dylan's Not Dark Yet, not to mention rocker G.G. Allin's delicate and surprisingly touching version of Zevon's Carmelita. Even the unsigned (and relatively unknown) Spider Problem steps it up with the catchy Cha Cha (Be My New BF), exuding a sense of sexy indifference reminiscent of the best tracks from the electroclash band Le Tigre. Both Lord and Blond Pilot contribute excellently gentle tracks shoring up the emotional aspects of the album, while Stuffy Shmitt manages more rough emotion in the intentionally haphazard Can't Find My Way Home. Nicely wrapping the album up is Damhnait Doyle's deceptively simple cover of the over-covered I Want You To Want Me. Somehow, the Canadian pop singer manages to trot this old horse out in a way that feels both fresh and invigorating.
Overall, this collection of songs has enough familiarity (almost half of it is covers) and freshness (see Spider Problem, Joe Lewis, and Damhnait Doyle) to reel in any music fan who takes a listen. Somehow managing to be both eclectic and cohesive at the same time, this is a soundtrack for those who feel that the soundtrack genre has lost its footing in a world of single-track downloads.
Zach's Rating: A-
Perfect For: Fans of eclectic soundtrack collections
Stay Away if: The idea of a soundtrack is sooooo early 2000s

Dogtown, that's the title of the next episode of Californication airing November 29 and here are some details: Hank takes Charlie out for a night of drinking after the agent loses his job, but their revelry hits a rough-and-tough spot when they wind up in the middle of a convenience-store

The show is a lot better when the ex-wife is not on it. The last episode was kind of a dud.

I have a crush on Natascha McElhone ... I like everything I've seen her do.

However, her character, Karen, has a split personality. Sometimes she seems to be enabling Hank's promiscuity and sometimes she makes him suffer (additionally ) for it. I, of course, prefer the enabler.
