Oh man, that scene at the end when he is having sex and hits the wall/picture, I burst out laughing, pretty funny stuff.

Perhaps if you're willing to dig long and hard for it (no pun intended), but I remember looking for it once a few years back (literally only once; after what happened to my computer I'd never do it again ) just to see if it was out there and every single site was a pay-site. Sometimes, they'd have some kind of a tease out front (maybe that's where the myth of "free" porn comes from), but the "good stuff" was all locked away and required a fee. Somebody puts porn on the web, they're going to want to get paid.

This show illustrates what excellent writing and acting can do for a show without fancy special effects, expensive sets, or...a plot.

I kind of felt the same way about 'John from Cincinnati'.

Yeah but the only thing people are arguing about here is if those breasts were the actresses, a body double's or CGI. That's much better than arguing if the parrot is God and just saved Shaunie, or who the hell is John and why are the Hawaiins there. This show is infinitely better than JFC.

To each his own, but I would fundamentally disagree with your premise. This show, while entertaining and containing a wonderfully large amount of boobage, is nowhere near JfC in terms of the weight of talent brought to bear on the production. Understand that I may be considered an "apologist" for that show, but I thought it was brilliant. Weird, yes; opaque, mostly; confounding, occasionally; but nonetheless brilliant. I was hugely disappointed there won't be a second season. I'm sure there are one or two others who feel likewise.

I think the writing/story and the crappy acting of Shawn of JFC will be the reason it probably wont come back. If we are lucky.

My God! Here we are in the Californication thread STILL arguing about JfC. I am amazed by the strong feelings about JfC, both pro and con, that persist even now, although the show is kaput. If Milch knew, he would be laughing his ass off.

I think that Californication is delightful. David Duchovny is the perfect actor in the perfect part.

The writing is intriguing, but so far the two problems still exist for me:

1. This poor bastard is having hot ass thrown at him in all directions, constantly. It's just impossible for the viewer to feel sorry for his character. Sure he's twisted and tormented over losing the relationship with the mother of his child, but having gorgeous women beg you to bang them certainly takes the edge off

2. This supposed 'great writer' isn't. Go back and listen to what he put as his first blog entry. Absolute terrible cliched crap. It reminds me of the people who used to criticize that the 'skits' we briefly saw on 'Studio 60' weren't that funny and this show is supposed to be a huge hit. Everyone used to say, the show isn't about the 'show within the show' but rather everything else around it. Well I'm sure the same is true about Californication, but if you're going to subject us to his genius, then you'd better make it damn good or the whole premise goes away.

I like this show a lot, but it's hard to know how it's going to develop into something more than titillation. For a comedy series to achieve greatness there has to be meaningful conflict or psychological complexity or angst - gotta be more than yuks and teats. You've got to care about what happens to the main character, which means that you have to make him or her real. If this series doesn't develop any more depth, I'll keep watching for the primo T&A, but I'll lose respect for myself.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Yeah. Definitely looks like some CGI, prosthetics, or special effect trickery was used on Paula's topless scene. I looked at HD footage frame by frame and it indeed looks "off".

Disgusting. Sometimes computers can be the devil.

People stopped watching because it sucked ass. Not because they didnt know the show was on. Now they are no longer watching the shows they liked because you constantly promote other crap.

So, arch, if JfC tanks, will "Deadwood" get any more eps?

Well, I think that was the assumption everybody was going on, but now I hear that Milch has "other projects" in the works including a return to his cop-show roots. Could be that even if he wanted to (not a given with the mercurial Milch), HBO would view starting 'Deadwood' back up as prohibitively expensive, or logistically unfeasible. On the other hand, during the summer press tour, I believe they said it was "doable". So.......uh.......I don't know Butchie instead.

sorry, which one was Paula Marshall? Or, put another way, which ones were Paula's?

I remember Paula Marshall from Out of Practice. I don't remember seeing her in ep 1 or 2 of CAication.

Somehow I am not worried that I dont feel sympathy for the main character. I cant believe that is the intent. The show so far is just very funny!!

In an earlier post I observed that the passion of the responses JfC continues to draw, both pro and con, is a wonder to behold. I rest my case.

I don’t feel much sympathy for him, either. The show’s magic, it seems to me lies in the really funny and creative messes this interesting, charismatic guy’s libido gets him into. His writer’s block and slacker’ attitude make the whole thing even funnier but the guy himself is, to put it gently, not very admirable..

This guy get more ass than a toilet seat. If only I had porn stars throwing their phone number at me while at a stoplight! (not really, the porn star part anyway, but you get my point)

Ladies: Is DD really that attractive?

I like the show so far and the BF (boob factor) is much appreciated.

BTW, I liked JfC also and wish it had been renewed for a second season. THEN we would have gotten some answers! JK.

No CGI needed for Brooke. Although for some reason I think this will be here "peak" as the type of role she'll land in "mainstream" TV/movies. I can only think of one porn star that did a half way decent job in "mainstream" media and that was Traci Lords.

And I second the motion of no more JFC/Milch talk - wrong channel and show.
