"THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES" IS COMING TO FOX!

Lena Heady (the delicious Queen Gogro in 300) is going to be the new Sarah Connor. Looks like a winner!

Between this and 'the Bionic Woman" on NBC, I think television has reached the saturation point for 'bad-ass totally-hot alpha-female' characters....lol...

...keep them coming! :-p

Maybe Fox already cancelled the show!

I am really not sure what they could do with this plot. Is it a freak of the weak show, or do we see a weekly show about her time after the first movie while she hid out and organized the 'underground'?

It's been discussed quite a bit over in the Hot Off the Press thread for the last couple of months since the network fall schedules were announced, but it's being held until midseason, so there probably won't be alot of discussion until closer to then.

Ah, I see. Still, I think it deserves its own thread as its already gotten around 400 reads in less than 24 hours...but I guess we'll see once the show airs if its truly worthy.

I saw the extended pilot episode at Comic-Con last weekend, it was very action packed with terminators. The stars were all there in person for a panel, including actress Summer Glau, "River" is back! Great scene where first they are in 1999 and use a time travel device to all go forward to 2007 and appear minus clothes in the middle of a busy street. A kid in a car immediately takes out his phone to take a picture of Summer's character after appearing without clothes in the time bubble!

I don't disagree at all, I for one am really looking forward to the show, of all the scifi styled shows starting this season (and there are several) I think this one has the potential to be the best. It certainly has that built in audience going for it, although there are many already complaining about continuity issues. Anytime a series or another version of an established franchise is tried, you'll have fans of the franchise who hate it and others who love it.

WHAT?!

Stupid. Oh well, I guess with alternate timelines they can do anything they want. I kind of like what they did with 3 though, if they're not going to stick with that plotline you'd think the fans would lose interest?

What, Painkiller Jane doesn't make the list?

This was widely reported to be the most expensive pilot ever made (more than Aqua Man, I hear). If the production continues to cost that much, the numbers will have to be HUGE to stay on the air more than a couple of episodes. It's not going to get a "Studio 60" grace period.

Studio 60 got a special grace period because of the special circumstances. Because it was an Aaron Sorkin show that was desired by many networks, NBC agreed to a full season pick-up upon signing. That is a very rare situation, only occurring with major TV producers such as Sorkin and it was why they continued to shoot episodes even after the show was pulled from the air. Any other show would have been cancelled outright but Studio 60 continued because the episodes were contractually obligated.

Yes from what I heard at the panel, the series makes the point that the timeline keeps changing from the terminators sent back and the past was changed. The date of the nuclear doomsday moves back and so forth, different from the movie timeline after T2.

Alternate timelines may seem inherently ridiculous, but it's actually a plot elelment of the Terminator storyline, so I guess they can get away with it for "Chronicles."

If it was any other network, I'd at least give it a fighting chance, but this is FOX after all!
What a bad rep FOX has for a quick trigger finger, but with the big $$ they're spending on the pilot... you'd hope they give it more of a chance then they gave DRIVE. From what I've read- FOX loves to be anything but a silent partner on anything they sponsor. Joss Whedon has commented in several interviews how FOX liked to throw their weight around with "suggestions" on how Firefly should be written. Many Dark Angel fans still blame FOX for the series failure by moving the series to a bad time slot for the second season, and we all know that DRIVE wasn't even given a decent chance to survive with the cancellation coming after just a few episodes. Anything "Terminator" related should have a good following if it's well written and produced.
Let's wish for the best for "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and hope FOX has learned from some of it's past mistakes and stays out of the mix...

Fox deserves a lot of blame for canceling great shows, but let's face the facts -

1. Firefly would never have been as good as it was if Fox hadn't interfered. Whedon wanted an ultra dark humorless Malcolm Reynolds, which would've sucked. No other network would've even given firefly a chance.

2. Drive was promoted well, but the concept just didn't work -- everyone expected a fast and the furious type show with flashy cars, and instead people were driving around in dodge caravans ramming each other on the highway...are you kidding me?

3. No network other than Fox even gives these types of shows a chance. ABC is trying to draw female viewers, CBS only does crappy CSI type shows and procedurals, NBC is just plain annoying with its shows.

If anything, I guess we should be happy that these shows make it to the air at all

"Ultra dark & humorless" Kind of reminds me of Admiral Adama on BSG, seems to work well for him.

This show will be going down the tubes in a relatively short time, and probably deservedly so.

However, I would like to nominate the above comment for the category of 'funniest allusion to a completely different thread', when the AVY'S are handed out at year's end.

Have you looked over the upcoming fall schedule? While it's true the networks like to have an "identity," the success of "Lost" and "Heroes" has allowed them to stretch a bit, and there are several high concept, scifi, superhero type shows coming across all the networks. Now whether any of these shows actually turn out to be any good is different story.
