As to Penny, they should bottle that look she had in her last scene, and keep it. She was as hot as she has ever looked in the show.

Wow, those pictures are high quality. You can see a band-aid on her right knee... maybe she needs a kiss to make it all better? If johnny galecki doesn't take her up on it, I'll offer my services.

It really shows how thorough the writers are. If you remember earlier in the show she said she skinned her knee when climbing down the fire escape. That is why she is wearing a band aid on her knee.

Yes, that is what happened, you could actually see the 'boo-boo' in the scene where she comes back to yell at the guys. Exact same spot as the band-aid too.

There's one thing that has always bothered me about this show, and keeps it from being my favorite. (Forgive me if this has been covered much earlier in this thread.. )

Why is Leonard's character so meek and nerdy, with mannerisms that border on feminine? Those damn prop glasses and the way he snivels and is always holding/touching his fingers REALLY creeps me out. The actor that plays him is, imho, totally unbelievable in this character. The other characters are casted perfectly and they are believable. In fact, it's more realistic to me that Penny would fall for one of the other guys than for the caricature of a character that Leonard is.

I can't watch one episode with thinking how fake his character is. It totally ruins it for me. Anyone else?? Just had to get this off my chest

To put it in one word, NO. I love this show. It is the best and funniest sitcoms I have seen in a long time. I think the characters are perfectly cast.

Its a pretty funny show although IMO there are 2 or 3 better written sitcoms on the air right now (The Office for one)

They still need to cast David Hyde Pierce (Niles Crane) as Sheldons father. His run on Broadway is ending soon so he would be available for season 2

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. All the traits you mentioned are stereotypical of the nerd set and this is what this show does. It magnifies those mannerisms to the point of caricature.

If anything Leonard is the most realistic character since he already knows he's a nerd and can't really do much to break out of his personality at this point. Although he's trying.

Last week I think he didn't try very hard. I was hoping he would make a break thru with the collectibles but the moment Penny's "cool friend" showed up he gave up and ran back to the time machine! I don't have any action figures but I'm sure I'm a nerd in many others ways and I was hoping one of us would get the girl.

Season 1 is not the time to "get the girl" for the nerd. It would basically ruin the dynamic of the show. At least in my opinion. I think season 2 will be the proper time for a drunken hookup =P nothing more substantial till season 3 at least =)

Just remember, that at this point in the series, they all (with the exception of Sheldon) have hooked up with chicks so far.

I wasn't talking literally rather figuratively. Even Sheldon has been maturing a bit as shown in the last episode when he actually figured out something was bothering Leonard and perhaps he wanted to talk about it.

I understand they can't get married just yet. I guess it was the 180 he did... from starting to ask Penny out to running back home to his blanket (the time machine) that felt like such a reversal. Obviously that is where the humor comes in but I couldn't help but hope he made it over the hump.

She could have said no, the date could have been a disaster, or any number of other events could have unfolded. Although she actually went to watch the PMS boys in action so she must be interested in Leonard or really wanted to see Sheldon go down!

Yeah but that was a pretty cool time machine! Mine doesn't light up.

He might as well play with it until Penny gets dumped and Leonard gets a makeover.

It is amazing what actors can do if they are allowed to develop their characters. Rajnesh ((actor who portrays him) was amazing in his hand gestures and personality caused by side effects of drugs.
If networks could just be a little more patient we could see more nuanced performances like this one.

As soon as Rajnesh starting walking down the hall I said to my wife I bet he takes one of the flyers! Well he walked right past them and the flyers blew up as if calling out to him. Of course as soon as he was out of sight he came back and took one while checking over his shoulder to see if everyone was looking.

Just goes to show the writers are far more talented than me in writing sitcoms.

I thought it was a great epsiode, too.

I like that they are making it an ensemble cast again in the past two episodes. It is better than just Sheldon being the star, and everyone else supporting him. Good episodes the past two weeks.

the only thing that I didn't like about this episode was the actress who played Sheldon's twin sister's TERRIBLE FAKE SOUTHERN ACCENT.... Good lord.... Good thing she was pretty . But still can't hold a candle to Penny .

Anyone else love the double magic trick? haha, he knew she'd say no the first time, lol.

In the script, she states she and Sheldon grew up in Texas, but she sounds like she's from Georgia (deep Georgia). Sheldon, on the otherhand, doesn't seem to have this accent. (By the way, the actor who play Sheldon is actually from Spring, TX a suburb of Houston.
I can overlook her accent though, considering her other attributes.

Agreed. Sheldon's twin almost ruined the episode for me. At some points she had no accent at all and others she had a strong fake southern accent. She was hot, but Penny still takes the cake. She has that combination of looks and personality that places her at the top of my "TV babe list".

I am also happy that they are starting to show more of the other characters and not just using them to support Sheldon all the time. I can't help but root for Leonard. I liked his line where he asked Penny if she was still dating that Mark-guy (I think it was Mark?) then when she said yes, he asked for Sheldon's sister. If Penny didn't know that Leonard liked her, she sure knows now.

Raj was definitely a player in that episode. Too bad his drugs wore off!!

Nice little article on The Big Bang Theory in Variety :

"The Big Bang Theory": Frosh MVP of a Tortured Season

Maybe you had to be a "Star Trek" geek as a kid, and it probably helps to have grown up with Caltech and JPL being places you visited on school field trips... but even if you didn't mark time by the "star date" calendar or spend your formative years in Pasadena, you've gotta be able to get a giggle out of "The Big Bang Theory."

CBS/Warner Bros. TV comedy, created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, is the frosh MVP of the tortured 2007-08 season, IMHO. Episode by episode, the ensemble is getting tighter and more playful, making the characters richer and, most important, funny. This is not one of those half-hours that is stingy with big, broad laughs, or more concerned with advancing soapy storylines than the pound-for-pound silliness of each episode.

Perhaps the buddy comedy's biggest accomplishment has been making Kaley Cuoco's Penny, the ditsy hot chick who moves in next door to the egghead Caltech-ers (played with aplomb by Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons), more than a one-note punch line.

Producers are promising some extra-special hijinks for "Big Bang's" May 19 season finale.

For a representative sample, spin this recent "Big Bang" seg, "The Bat Jar Conjecture," as pictured here. Hint: As always, keep your eye on the red shirts.
