Soooo glad this is back.

The highlight of this episode, for me, was Raj and Howard. I can't believe how this show has flipped that Howard and Raj are no more interesting/funny. Love the Air Force part, Raj was hilarious and Howard making fun of him when he as on hold was excellent.

The part I hated was that Penny's brother was wrongly type casted. He just didn't come off as a dude making meth. Plus hated how he acted in the role. To weird for me.

Totally agree on Penny's brother. Had the wrong guy playing the part for so many reasons.

Missed this one!

Oops, I have a new DVR and somehow I forgot to add the shows for this season.

Good start. Hopefully they can keep it up.

I agree about Penny's brother. He was the weak link of the episode.

The best guy for Penny's brother would have been the scientist guy who played the crack addict in one of the previous seasons. That guy was great!

I enjoyed the casting: Keith Carradine (the President in Madame Secretary) as the beer-swilling good ol' boy dad; the versatile Katey Sagal as the overmatched mom; and particularly Jack McBrayer, cast against type as the goofy buf self-aware meth-cooking brother. I can believe a couple that looks like Carradine and Sagal could produce a daughter that looks and acts like Penny.

I can also more readily accept that Leonard truly is a step up for her.

But... never has it been more apparent how badly the show is hurt by its heavy load of commercial interruptions and its exceptionally short actual run-time. The edits and deleted scenes were glaringly obvious. In an hour time-slot this would have been barely 40 minutes, which would have still been too short for the potential of this cast, which was wasted on such a brief episode.

Actually S10E01 at 20:50 without opening or preview was longer than any episode last season. Nine of those didn't even make it to 18:00...

Carradine has appeared once before as Wyatt, and Sagal of course played Cuoco's mother on "8 Simple Rules."

I had no problem with the additional casting of her family... or Leonard's father from the finale... but it seemed like they ended up with WAY more characters than they knew what to do with. Most of them were largely superfluous. It's a show with a big regular cast already now... so that many guests in a single episode is a bit much even if the casting makes sense.

I would rather... for instance... they just bring in Penny's mom for an episode OR perhaps mom and dad... and the brother on his own... Sheldon's mom episodes are usually good... so have Leonard's mom... and they've managed to play those mom characters off each other too... but loading up all of the family is a bit much.

Why do I think the military subplot is part of the build-up to Howard's father somehow?

I've been told, on good authority, that tonight's episode is only ~18:39 in length. Ouch! CBS just plain out-and-out sucks. And that is being polite about it.

Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) is a guest tonight on Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson's show, Star Talk on the NatGeo channel.

Finally watched this one. I like Jack McBrayer in general, but he was really not what I expected her brother to be. A little ho-hum episode, but I'm curious to watch last nights now.

Last night's show was just OK...not great. It seem like it ran about 12 minutes though. Way too short and the short ending before the credits was total filler and not even that funny.

I know people like to blame networks for the short run times... but advertisements are paying for the creation of these shows. Without the ad revenue, the networks would have to ask for more money from us OR just not have some of these shows we like. That's the nature of the business, for good or for ill. We get 18 minutes OR nothing at all, probably.

I did not like the parts with Penny and the girls and the whole pregnancy thing (but I did REALLY like Penny in a suit). The highlight of the episode was the military parts. Really liking that story line. It was laugh out loud funny for me when they got the retinal scanner at the end. That is exactly what I would think those guys would do.

That is who I was thinking of for that part.
