She only interacted with part of the group in the original episode. They never showed her interacting with the others because they were not prominent on the show yet so yes, for some of the cast, this was the first time they saw her.

She interacted with Penny, Lenny, Raj and Howard. In other words the main characters.

Bernadette and Amy were the only two that may not have met her. The rest did. But it was Penny and a couple of others that acted as though it was their first time meeting her. The actors should have at least questioned why.

There are some other past characters I would like to see come back such as Sheldon's sister and a less awkward comback for Leslie Winkle.

I've seen every episode and I barely recognized her. Probably wouldn't have if I hadn't seen this thread.

If you were going to a party and bringing your cousin who has visited you once 5 years ago and met a few of your friends, would you just say "Hey guys, this is my cousin, Mary" or would you point out who she met the first time? And would your friends just say "Hi" back or welcome her like an old friend? Especially if her first visit was kind of awkward?

I think she was around for a week or more. It isn't like she came over for dinner and left.

You are most likely right. I don't remember the details of that episode from years ago. However, she did not interact with the whole group everyday for extended amounts of time. Sheldon was the one who spent the most time with her and the other guys saw her occasionally at the university.

That episode was on TBS a couple of weeks ago and I saw it again. She was with Sheldon all the time, work and home. She lived with Sheldon and Leonard the whole time she was working with Leonard. She was the one that wouldn't let Sheldon have any fun because she said he was wasting his mind on silly things like paintball. Leonard and one of the others came in as she was giving Sheldon and pedicure. Sheldon tried to run her off, even asking Leonard to "get rid of her." It wasn't until she asked her name be on Sheldon's paper when he finally flipped and kicked her out. I think that was the same episode when she stormed out that Penny was in the hall and sarcastically to do the pinky shake of friends.

Have you guys seen the trailer for the spinoff show? I was very skeptical but the trailer actually looks like a great show. I'm looking forward to it now.

I saw it yesterday, but didn't laugh from it. :/ I will try its pilot a spin to see if it is even funny.

I just watched the trailer embedded above and didn't laugh either. Unlike you, I have no desire now to watch the pilot. I'll pass.

I watched the trailer,

It has potential, one must always remember it is an introduction to the characters and concept so it will take some time. I think the interplay between sheldon and his twin sister would be unique. After watching 10 seasons of BBT, it would be cool to get a bit of background on the main character. My question is BBT will be on for 2 more seasons, will Young Sheldon be timed to end with BBT? Will some regulars on two-and-a-half men be used as regulars on Young Sheldon?

The two shows I watch is BBT during the reglular season and Orange is the New Black during the summer. I'm sure I can make room for a total of one hour a week of BBT/Young Sheldon if it is half-way decent.

I'm intrigued, but some of the acting was a bit too wooden.

It's one of those shows that doesn't seem to need to exist. Nobody demanded it. They've given Sheldon the relevant backstory as needed on Big Bang... I don't see myself watching this show. No offense to the actors who are taking a paying gig.

You know. They could had made flashbacks in TBBT series instead of a spinoff. I'd like that.

I really like Sheldon's character on TBBT and this young Sheldon was excellent as him in this preview.

Just not sure how to pull this off episode after episode....

I smiled a lot at that trailer, but didn't laugh. The first mitten piece was cute. But the boy actor comes across really bad like he is just speaking his lines because he is required to do it.

I like BBT and Sheldon as much as the next guy, but I'm tired of it. I'm ready for it to be done. I sure as crap don't want another show about Sheldon.

The trailer looked interesting, I'll give it that. But I will most likely just pass on it.

They also will be burdened with the fact that we know what Big Ban Theory Season 1 Sheldon was like... and have lots of historical background on him from the show... so this prequel will have a definite cap as to how much growth they can even give the young Sheldon character.

I just can't think of a compelling reason for this spinoff to exist.

I wonder if they will really strictly follow all the things they have setup with Sheldon and all the things he has said that happened when he was younger.

If it's the same producers and (some of the) writers then I'm sure they'll adhere to the childhood events mentioned in BBT.

Since adult Sheldon is kind of like a child in a man's body, the writers don't really have to show much growth.

I don't expect this new show to last very long. There's just so much Sheldon one can handle.

I wonder what the success rate is for spinoff sitcoms. I would guess Frasier was the most successful.

There were a few spinoffs that did well.

It's a catch-22... IF they don't, then there's even less reason for Big Bang Theory fans to watch it as it would be a show about someone else, and not young Sheldon... but the closer they follow the known backstory, the more it will feel like retread.

I don't think there's a good way for this to go, which is but a part of why I feel like this is going to prove to be a bad idea.

I see young Sheldon being inspired by The Goldbergs with a twist (Sheldon hook). And since it has been on the air for four years and just got renewed for two more if they can do a decent job I don't see why it can't find an audience.

Just to say that I'm not watching this show anymore. Most of the characters are just too normal now, even Sheldon, is kind of too normal now. The only ones that are still kind of weird are Raj And Stuart, but I never really gave much of a damn about either of them. Also it seems that some of the minor characters that were funny, aren't even on anymore, Kripke, Lesley Winkle, that Geologist guy who likes Amy, that's all I can remember now but I'm sure I'm missing some though. Not to mention that it's not even funny anymore.
