I couldn't stop laughing at the "The garbage can formed around the piece of paper" joke. I had to rewind that about 5x.

God bless the HD DVR

Loved the beginning then it seemed to drop off for me. Still a great show, just not one of their better episodes.

For me, it dropped off, but then came back. The first part was great though, and the shperical chicken in a vacuum! (I don't get it)

That opening sequence on the evolution of technology is a real test of how bad your local CBS affiliate macroblocks. My local affiliate has three subchannels it looked really, really bad, especially towards the end where the images are changing several times per second.

As far as the content, it dropped off and never came back for me, except for the line about who was controlling the RC car that looked up Penny's skirt.

My wife and I had rewatched all the previous episodes over last weekend to prepare for the show's return, so the start of the season and subsequent episode "arc" was very fresh in our minds. We did very much enjoy the episode, and laughed a lot, but noticed that Penny's characterization is changing/has changed (yes, this will take some getting used to...) Previously, she was a bit more meek, ditzy, whatever you call it, but last night, we obviously saw her as a more "in charge" character. If you'll remember, though, in the last episode, we did very much see many of those same characteristics (in taking care of Koothrapali), so this isn't really a change, just furthering that character arc.

On a technical note, did anyone else notice that CBS shorted us in actual show runtime (~19:27 sans commercials, verses standard 20-21 minute normal runtime). I have to wonder: is this is result of the strike, the advertisers, or what?

Ideas?

The chicken can't lay eggs. The mans only solution involves a shperical chicken in a vacuum (aka, an egg).

I am made about the spherical egg joke. Because I don't get it. I pride myself on my "geekness" and this is the first joke on BBT that I didn't get.

I guess I am missing the nerd factor.

Its not a physics joke itself but a joke on the physicist.

I don't remember the exact wording of the joke but I'll try to explain my initial reaction. Scientific method relies upon minimizing variables in order to more accurately determine the outcome. Among the common physical variables that can be held constant are shape, and environment.

Hence, the physicist determined how to make the chicken lay eggs but it was based on a theoretical spherical chicken that existed in a vacuum.

At least, I think I got the joke.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin

Damn it! Missed setting it up on my HDR yesterday! Anyone know if it will be rebroadcast in HD or do I have to get it in SD from someone else via my ReplayTv & Poopli?

I do not watch comedies. But, when she was cast for this show, I decided to watch. What I did not expect was that the show would be really funny. The nerd in me relates to so many of the in jokes.

Penny has developed as a character more than any of the five. She started out in the pilot being the sterotypical dumb blonde, but she is no where near a dumb blonde anymore. Yes, the geniuses do talk over her head many times, as anyone in her shoes might not understand when they talk technical, but she she is smart and does take charge. Another good job by the writers in making her different than your average sitcom blonde. And, yes, I do love looking at Kaley (Penny), too. She is hot.

THREE SUBCHANNELS? Are the so-called-managers at that station that frakin' stupid!!! Don't they even watch their own station in HD? Oh wait, it is so bad that they go into the control room and watch the 40+Mbps CBS network feed.

It is bad enough with one subchannel and 1080i, let alone three.

My take is she is still the same gal as before... and I never took her as being dumb rather she has always seemed like a fairly good representative of her generation. Far more socially advanced than the guys.

Early on you simply didn't see as much of her personality but she still got in her shots. Now as she gets to know the guys she more or less knows how to interact (differently) with each of them. Last night she treated each of them based on their personality and you could see how she felt about them individually.

To me she was never THAT dumb. However, it seemed like every critic who reviewed the show after seeing the pilot say, ah dumb blonde. Or she is a ditzy, dumb blonde. I do think she was sort of dumber and more innocent in the pilot, and now she has developed into a more mature and independent person. Anyway, I think she is a perfect foil to play opposite the geeks. They bring out the best in each other. I especially love the interaction between Sheldon and Penny. It often leads to some of the funniest lines.

One thing I like about the show is that all the stuff on the white boards is real.

They have an actual Physicist create that stuff (usually Quantum Mechanics) and to verify all the physics on the show is accurate.

Good episode last night. Funny how Sheldon has to make things as real as possible, so much so that he brings in the other guy (Road Trip) to keep the story going!

It was really good, I love how Sheldon "weaved" the web so good, that it could "not" be un-weaved!!! The character of Sheldon, is so great, never a let down

I loved the start when they were discussing the Terminators and referred to the 17 year old female terminator, which was of course a reference to 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' .

DJ Qualls is hilarious. Glad he got an opportunity to guest on the show.

Did anyone else notice that the entire show took place in either the apartment or the hallway? This show must be insanely cheap to produce... too bad they couldn't use the savings on Jericho!

Is the building manager ever going to fix the elevator?
Where have I seen the guest star (the "homeless druggie") before?

Last night's episode was great, and we've got another crossover guest star!! Here's a link to My Name is Earl:

The horrifically skinny actor who played "Cousin Leo" was also the husband of Joy's sister on Earl (The sister that Joy was having the baby for). Later on last night, I just happened to watch an older episode (2005) of Earl last night, and guess who was one of the guys on Earl's karma list.....Leonard from BBT!!

These crossovers are great......

I thought the same thing, but since I don't remember seeing the bedroom before I actually said to my wife hey, they finally got enough money to build another set!
