And, if you only use multi-room viewing in the exercise room, and don't want to record or watch live there, you could use a regular S2 standalone TiVo there.

I was talking about 3 boxes X $250 = $750. Is the subscription for all three DVR's or $6 / box?

So my setup would be:

1 Tivo HD box + 1 cable box (~$4) so I could also get VOD?

I would need three of the above.

Subscription is per-box. You'd need the cable box for each place you'd want VOD. Again, if you say you need it for PPV and VOD, they'll usually toss it in for free.

TiVo is on it's way out - stream everything!

Reports are that most programming on Discovery HD are upconverts, so don't get too excited.

New first-run content, including new episodes of shows like Mythbuster in are HD. Past episodes and most of the repeat content is zoomed and cropped.

Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, the Science Channel, and TLC are all very similar in that regard. All have very little content in high-definition at this time, and all crop and zoom their SD programming to fill the screen.

Comcast Sportsnet MidAtlantic showed up here in the DC area last night. channel 829.

Also Discovery does not stretch their SD content, they zoom and crop, which IMO is better than stretching, but obviously worse than showing it OAR.

Off Topic, however, what is "OAR"? I've seen it listed in a l few places, however, could never find an explanation.

A google search is useless (used for too many acronyms).

Thanks for anyone's help!!

Well, to be picky, this is an inactive thread, not a forum. If people want to have something to discuss about new HD on Fios, how about the HD VOD files that have been quietly showing up in the states with IMG in the HDTV folder? So far, the HD programming can only be found with a search as it is not accessible from the top level folders. The question is when will Verizon add the HD to the folders and announce HD VOD? Another question is whether Verizon will add HD shows from Sci-Fi and USA to the VOD set to make up for the missing live HD channels?

Oop!! "Dead Thread"!! Hey, wait a minute afiggat, that is picky

But now that you mention it, I (and mrothgeb) made note in the FiOS Programming "thread" that the HD VOD folder was empty. URFloorMatt then stated "According to DSL Reports, the folks with the IMG maintenance update have about 50 HD-VOD" - so this may be some good news about HD VOD.

URFloorMatt & mrothgeb - I hope you don't mind me mentioning and quoting you in this forum...I mean thread!!

For the record, I should've clarified by saying "According to people posting on DSL Reports" rather than DSL Reports itself.
