I think Total Bull S**t is more appropriate. The network has no redeeming qualities.

There isn't any clutter on ABC(yet). As of today, ABC HD is free of clutter. Probably will change soon though.

I'm surprised that no one bitched about Thursday night's CBS clutter during Swingtown. The anaimated piece of crap that came up promoting Eleventh Hour this fall was so frakin' large that it went halfway up the screen.

I have samples of what CBS has done and what NBC did during Fear Itself.

I'll have the images posted to my I Hate Snipes! web page (Google it, it comes up first, since I can't post a link to my own web pages ) sometime Saturday afternoon.

I'm done watching NBC and I'm about to throw in the towel with CBS as well.

Maybe 'cuz no one watched "Swingtown"? I hope that show, along with the animated popups, do not last long. Just another example of how "putting sex in anything makes it sell".

Even though it is not HD, add Nick At Nite to the list of networks with questionable advertising practices. They cut off the end credits of shows that actually have extra content with the credits. The ending of "Fresh Prince" was squeezed to the bottom of the screen to show a preview for Family matters coming to Nick at Nite.

I remember a time when Nick At Nite and TV Land showed bug free, clutter free, snipe free shows and left the studio credits in tact. Guess those days are over in a pathetic attempt to squeeze more advertising into an hour.

Did anyone see the NBC Olympics graphic during L&O tonite? It covered the entire bottom third of the screen. I think this one ranks right up there as one of the worst screen clutter graphics to date. If anyone can capture it to show it here, I think you will agree.

I was right about digital transition related snipes. On Without a Trace on CBS tonight there was a snipe about the DTV transition that took up the bottom 1/4 or more of the screen. 4X3 safe, of course.

How can we say "the digital transition is complete" when thousands of low power stations are still broadcasting in analog?

DTV information crawls are required by the FCC.

I've seen it during ER, and yes, they might as well just cover the entire screen with it as it is that large.

No, that is mild compared to the new one...it covered the entire bottom third of the screen with animation and an olympic runner in the center of the screen. I think there are several variations of this new animated olympics pop up and it's more colorful than the NBC peacock. It's 10 times worse than the circus with the stars pop up.

The DTV transition notice was a snipe, not a crawl. It was a large graphic in the same style as an ad for an upcoming program.

How can we say "the digital transition is complete" when thousands of low power stations are still broadcasting in analog?

During tonight's 9:30PM "Home Improvement", NAN squashed back the picture to advertise some nonsense about reducing the amount of food on your plate. Here's an idea: set an example by reducing the amount of garbage on my screen.

If this SD-only channel does crap like this, I hate to think how HD channels might try to adapt this to fit their screen.

while I was complaining about the moron-bug "new epsiode of My Boys!" on TBS tonight I came across this gem:

Why do you have so many pop-up ads on TBS?

Alerting viewers to upcoming programming through stationary and animated logos at the bottom of the screen is standard throughout the television industry. In this world of 300 or more channel systems, easy identification of channels is important. At TBS, we strive to present such promotional messages in a way that doesn't detract from the programming, such as having the logo become partially transparent after the initial messaging.

"doesn't detract from the programming" ha ha, that's funny. Also funny is that it's also a copy and paste answer to "why do you have a logo?"

Head over to:
http://support.tbs.com/ics/support/ticketnewclassic.asp

And let TBS know how much they don't detract from their programming. Then just like their FAQ, copy and paste your comment in other TBS subject comments.

Make note of that URL as well. Bookmarking their regular contact page will just bounce you around the site once you've used it.

son of a ... they really like to make it difficult. It will work after you make your first complaint and it stores your name.

Otherwise you have to go through:

http://support.tbs.com

Click contact us > High Def > my answer is not here > choose the category from the drop down menu. Doesn't have to be HD related.

Getting the free preview this week, and I'm glad I decided to stop subbing to Showtime. I wouldn't enjoy paying for a premium movie channel and them sticking the stupid SHO bug on it.

I totally agree with you. Because of that and, their self-promoting pop ups during programming, I dropped ShowTime. Now StarzHD has added their network bug. It is a pulsating bright orange bug and appears for 1-2 minutes about 5-6 times each hour. I find that worse than ShowTime's fixed-transparent bug. If StarzHD continues along this path I will drop them too. I pay a premium each month for uninterrupted programming. I won't tolerate this crap. I wish others would do the same.

I quoted the bugs as the reason I was cancelling the premium channels after my 3 free months for signing up with Directv was over.

Althought truthfully, I doubt I would've kept it anyways, but it was one of my deciding factors.

For the future of television programs, look no further than the movie Idiocracy. The small area in the middle is where the program is shown.

BTW, very funny movie!!!

That's actually airing this weekend on Showtime(?) - which is true irony, since they love their little bug and squashing credits.
