Thank you Charlie! I'm a big Monk fan. Does anybody know if the old (2004) episodes are HD?

I'm watching Stargate SG-1 in HD on channel 9432 and noticed it's in the 4:3 format while USA HD Monk is in widescreen HD format...anyone getting this too?

I just switched from the America's 250, HD Locals and all the HD to just the Locals HD and HD w/no SD!! This is a perfect package for me. It is too bad I didn't know about this earlier as I am going to switch back to Directv in June and the MPEG 4 receiver. The PQ on Directv is better and I now will be able to set that dish up w/o an obstruction. 2 months and $40/month saved is worth it since I don't watch SD anymore. Does anyone know if Directv has the same kind of package?

No, they don't.

These 2 channels are great additions, IMO.
I wish E* would add Spike-HD and F/X-HD.

Did this $30 deal end?

I went to the dish website and clicked on Dish Builder, but the only three choices are dishDVR Advantage 100, dishDVR Advantage 200, and dishDVR Advantage 250. There is a choice to add HD to any of these packages, but I can not find the HD standalone deal.

There's real HD Anime (as opposed to the uprezzed stuff on Cartoon Network HD) on Voom's Animania channel, which you get with the $29.99 package.

After three months with the HD Only package, my wife noticed Saturday night that the Sirius and CD music channels were gone. Big fight ensued, "I said ...", "no you didn't ...".

Ended up buying XM satellite radio for the house and her car as a compromise. Not as convenient as having music on every TV in the house, but there's more variety than the Dish music channels, and you can take it with you on the road.

$75 in equipment, $13/month subscription. No way I'm going back to AT250 + HD Ultimate to get music, and raise my monthly bill by $55 bucks.

only Anime i have seen on that channel is samurai 7, me and the kids watch Narato and i watch death note and bleach. i do not think they are on any other channels besides cartoon network.

i do not mind them being uprezzed as long as they are on.

would be nice to get a true Anime network in HD or even sd for that matter !

Battlestar Galactica on Sci-Fi, plus many of their made for TV movies, such as Tinman.

Not sure about USA...are Monk and Psych HD? I'm hoping Burn Notice will be HD this next season.

I just saw an advert on one of the V* channels that said "coming May 1st a new Voom HD movie channel", while they flashed a bunch of trailers...

EDIT: According to Scott G @ Satguys E* will be carrying it... whatever it is. And BTW Chiller HD is coming to E* 4/23.

You are confused. Chiller is said to be coming to E* on Wednesday, but that is NOT (I repeat, NOT) the HD channel.

Damn, you're right! And seems the "new" V* HD Movie Channel is actually just a re-work/re-badge of World Cinema. So it's not even a new channel...

USA actually shows movies in HD. Most are open matte/cropped or native 1.85/1.78. However, none of them are pan and scan stretch-o-vision a la A&E/TBS.

Both USA and SciFi show some HD and neither does stretch-o-vision. As a result, I am quite happy with both. Dish can keep Speed and all the rest of the Fox channels (except Fox Business News) until they get capacity and contract arrangements. I'm hoping for the 24/7 HD channels like Smithsonian instead of upconvert channels like MTV, etc.

I did in fact quite enjoy my BSG in HD the other night. Also, the USA movies do look quite good. (well, Liar Liar was the only one I got a chance to see)

Also... Didn't realize I landed on CNN-HD the other night. Previously unmentioned.

Actually we talked about it earlier...when they added CNN-HD before Scifi there was a mini-debate about it's usefulness. I would rather have Sci-Fi first(for BSG), others were happy CNN-HD was added first, for the primary coverage.

We Sci-fi Folks didn't have to wait very long, making the debate moot. :-)

I'm no expert....so your mileage may vary
