I have a situation I haven’t been able figure out and not being very literate in this stuff, thought I would see if someone could tell me if what I want to do is possible. The devices involved in my issue are a Comcast STB model RG110, a Magnavox DVDR 513H with tuner, and an old Samsung VCR with tuner. I recently got the new Comcast STB. Shortly afterwards I was unable to record certain programs because of protected programming flags, so I bought a Grex filter to allow me to record those programs to my DVDR. Everything’s good with the DVDR now. But I would still like to have the capability to record protected programs to my VCR. I can’t get another Grex because the STB only has one set of composite jacks out. The VCR has two line-in jack sets and an antenna-in port. So I wondering if there any other device or any other way that would give me the capability to record these programs to my VCR? Thanks in advance.

If you want to record to either the VCR or DVD recorder, I'd just get an AV switch. You can pick them up at Best Buy or online for $10-$20. Just look for one with composite in and out (and red/white analog audio, obviously) and you're golden. You can have the Grex ahead of the switch so both devices get the stripped signal.

If you need to record both at the same time, that's a lot trickier.

Thanks, I appreciate your help and it sounds simple enough that even I can do it...

BTW, it would be the reverse of how those switches are usually used. But it should still work in reverse.
